Porosity is a challenging issue in additive manufacturing and is detrimental to the quality of the additively manufactured *** this study,a real-time porosity reduction technique was developed by incorporating a pulse laser into a laser metal powder directed energy deposition(DED)*** incorporated pulse laser can accelerate fluid flow within the melt pool and facilitate the escape of pores before complete *** achieves this real-time porosity reduction by inducing accelerated and turbulent Marangoni flow,ultrasonic waves,and shock waves into the melt *** uniqueness and advantages of the proposed technique include the following:(1)For a laser metal powder DED process,this study proposed a noncontact,nondestructive,and real-time porosity reduction technique at the melt pool level.(2)It was experimentally and numerically validated that the developed technique did not alter the geometry and the grain structure of the manufactured Ti-6Al-4V samples.(3)Because the porosity reduction is accomplished at the melt pool level,its application is not limited by the size,shape,or complexity of the printing target.(4)The developed technique can be readily incorporated into the existing DED systems without any modification of the original tool-path *** experimental results showed that the pore volume fraction decreased from 0.132%to 0.005%,no pores larger than 6×10^(4)μm^(3) were observed,and a 91%reduction in the total pore number was achieved when the pulse laser energy reached 11.5 mJ.

Gallbladder lymphangioma:A case report and review of the literature

Lymphangiomas are rare, benign tumors of the lymphatic system, usually present in children aged 5 years and younger. Because they are asymptomatic until the mass enlarges to cause symptoms, most lymphangiomas are diagnosed at adulthood incidentally. We experienced a case of a 60-year-old man diagnosed with a cystic lymphangioma of the gallbladder, which was successfully resected without any complication. Magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography were very helpful for the diagnosis of the cystic lesion around the gallbladder as were ultrasonography and computed tomography scan. These showed a multi-lobulated cystic mass with intact cystic duct and bile duct in the gallbladder fossa. The patient underwent an open cholecystectomy and the histological findings were consistent with a cystic lymphangioma of the gallbladder. We here report the case of cystic lymphangioma of the gallbladder with a review of the literature.

AIM: To assess the clinical significance of incidental focal colorectal 18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose ( 18 F-FDG) uptake on 18 F-FDG-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT). METHODS: The records of all the cases which had undergone colonoscopy after PET/CT within a two weeks interval were reviewed. Adenomas were considered advanced when they were villous, ≥ 10 mm in size, or had high-grade dysplasia. Colorectal cancers and advanced adenomas are collectively referred to as advanced colorectal neoplasms. Receiver-operating characteristic curve analysis was used to determine thesignificant predictive maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) cutoff value for advanced colorectal neoplasms and cancer. RESULTS: Ninety-five colorectal lesions matched the site of incidental focal colorectal 18 F-FDG uptake on PET/CT and 146 did not. Colonoscopy showed advanced colorectal neoplasms corresponding to the site of 18 F-FDG uptake in 49 of the 95 (51.5%) lesions with incidental uptake. Of the lesions without incidental uptake, only 6 of 146 (4.1%) had advanced colorectal neoplasms on colonoscopy, indicating a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P < 0.001). The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), and accuracy of incidental focal 18 F-FDG uptake in identifying advanced colorectal neoplasms were 89.1%, 75.3%, 51.6%, 95.9%, and 78.4%, respectively. In detecting only CRC, these values were 89.2%, 69.6%, 34.7%, 97.3%, and 72.6%, respectively. The significant SUVmax cutoff value for advanced colorectal neoplasms (area under the curve 0.755, P < 0.001) was 4.35, with a sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV, and accuracy of 75.5%, 65.2%, 69.8%, 71.4% and 70.5%, respectively. For CRC, 5.05 was the significant SUVmax cutoff value (area under the curve 0.817, P < 0.001), with a sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV, and accuracy of 84.8%, 71.0%, 80.9%, 89.8%, and 75.8%, respectively. Two-dimensional metal dichalcogenides have been evidenced as potential electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER);however,their application is limited by a poor oxygen evolution reaction(OER)activity due to insufficient number/types of multi-integrated active *** this study,we report a novel bifunctional catalyst developed by simultaneous engineering of single nickel atoms(Ni_(SA)) and nickel phosphate clusters(Ni_(Pi)) to synergistically trigger surface-functionalized MoS_(2) nanosheets(NSs)resulting in high reactivities for both HER and *** Ni_(SA)-Ni_(Pi)/MoS_(2)NSs material exhibits a fairly Pt-like HER behavior with an overpotential of 94.0 mV and a small OER overpotential of 314.0 mV to reach 10 mA cm^(-2) in freshwater containing 1.0 M *** results of the catalyst are well supported by theoretical study,which reveals the significant modulation of electronic structure and enrichment of electroactive site number/types with their reasonably adjusted free adsorption *** evaluating practicability,the Ni_(SA)-Ni_(Pi)/MoS_(2)NSs-based electrolyzer delivers effective operation voltage of 1.62,1.52,and 1.66 V at 10 mA cm^(-2) and superior long-term stability as compared to Pt/C//RuO_(2) system in freshwater,mimic seawater,and natural seawater,*** present study indicates that the catalyst is a promising candidate for the practical production of green hydrogen via water electrolysis.

The electrical characteristics of graphene Schottky contacts formed on undoped GaN semiconductors were investigated. Excellent rectifying behavior with a rectification ratio of -10^7 at ±2 V and a low reverse leakage current of 1.0 × 10^-8 A/cm^2 at -5 V were observed. The Schottky barrier heights, as determined by the thermionic emission model Richardson plots, and barrier inhomogeneity model, were 0.90, 0.72, and 1.24 ± 0.13 eV, respectively. Despite the predicted low barrier height of -0.4 eV at the graphene-GaN interface, the formation of excellent rectifying characteristics with much larger barrier heights is attributed to the presence of a large number of surface states （1.2 x 1013 states/cm2/eV） and the internal spontaneous polarization field of GaN, resulted in a significant upward surface band bending or a bare surface barrier height as high as of 2.9 eV. Using the S parameter of 0.48 （measured from the work function dependence of Schottky barrier height） and the mean barrier height of 1.24 eV, the work function of graphene in the Au/graphene/GaN stack could be approximately estimated to be as low as 3.5 eV. The obtained results indicate that graphene is a promising candidate for use as a Schottky rectifier in GaN semiconductors with n-type conductivity.

In patients with chronic liver diseases,identification of significant liver fibrosis and cirrhosis is essential for determining treatment strategies,assessing therapeutic response,and stratifying long-term *** liver biopsy remains the reference standard for evaluating the extent of liver fibrosis in patients with chronic liver diseases,several non-invasive methods have been developed as alternatives to liver *** of these non-invasive methods have demonstrated clinical accuracy for diagnosing significant fibrosis or cirrhosis in many cross-sectional studies with the histological fibrosis stage as a reference ***,non-invasive methods cannot be fully validated through cross-sectional studies since liver biopsy is not a perfect surrogate endpoint ***,recent studies have focused on assessing the performance of non-invasive methods through longterm,longitudinal,follow-up studies with solid clinical endpoints related to advanced stages of liver fibrosis and *** a result,current view is that these alternative methods can independently predict future cirrhosis-related complications,such as hepatic decompensation,liver failure,hepatocellular carcinoma,or liver-related *** clinical role of non-invasive models seems to be shifting from a simple tool for predicting the extent of fibrosis to a surveillance tool for predicting future liver-related *** this article,we will summarize recent longitudinal studies of non-invasive methods for predicting forthcoming complications related to liver cirrhosis and discuss the clinical value of currently available non-invasive methods based on evidence from the literature.
