Heat wave mitigation of ecosystems in mountain areas-a case study of the Upper Yangtze River basin

Background:Natural ecosystems,such as forests and grasslands,can mitigate heat waves,but research on heat wave mitigation in mountain ecosystems is lacking.Considering the upper reaches of the Yangtze River basin(URYB)as the study area,we first divided the URYB into mountainous and non-mountainous areas based on a digital elevation model(DEM).Then,we used temperature to identify heat waves and used the temperature and humidity index to identify suitable days.Finally,the differences between mountainous and non-mountainous areas were compared,and regional development strategies are proposed.Result:(1)The frequency and duration of heat waves increased by 0.433/y(P<0.1),0.07/y(P<0.05),while the number of suitable days in June,July,and August gradually decreased slightly by 0.0096/y(P<0.1),0.0125/y(P<0.1),0.004/y(P<0.1),respectively from 1986 to 2015.(2)The average monthly number of suitable days was the highest in mountainous areas during the summer from 1986 to 2015.Mountainous areas have an advantage in mitigating heat waves owing to landform-based changes in the local climate.(3)In addition to the landform,altitude was the main factor responsible for mitigating heat waves in mountainous areas.Conclusion:Parts of the plateau and whole mountain areas were found to be best for avoiding extremely high temperatures based on the number of suitable summer days from 1986 to 2015.We suggest formulating tourism promotion strategies,and strengthening tourism infrastructure,considering landscape protection and creation to promote sustainable regional development.

The environmental stability of infectious viruses in the laboratory setting is crucial to the transmission potential of human respiratory viruses.Different experimental techniques or conditions used in studies over the past decades have led to diverse understandings and predictions for the stability of viral infectivity in the atmospheric environment.In this paper,we review the current knowledge on the effect of simulated atmospheric conditions on the infectivity of respiratory viruses,mainly focusing on influenza viruses and coronaviruses,including severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus.First,we summarize the impact of the experimental conditions on viral stability;these involve the methods of viral aerosol generation,storage during aging and collection,the virus types and strains,the suspension matrixes,the initial inoculum volumes and concentrations,and the drying process.Second,we summarize and discuss the detection methods of viral infectivity and their disadvantages.Finally,we integrate the results from the reviewed studies to obtain an overall understanding of the effects of atmospheric environmental conditions on the decay of infectious viruses,especially aerosolized viruses.Overall,this review highlights the knowledge gaps in predicting the ability of viruses to maintain infectivity during airborne transmission.

农业科技服务对增强农业创新实力和促进农业可持续发展具有至关重要的作用,地方农业科研单位作为解决区域农业科技难题的核心力量,在推动科技服务地方方面扮演着重要角色。文章以河北省农林科学院植物保护研究所为例,从科技服务队伍建设与管理水平不高、制约因素过多、成果转化应用不足、考评机制缺乏等方面分析了地方农业科研院所在科技服务工作中凸显的问题,并针对问题从加强科技服务队伍建设、克服科技服务中的不利因素、促进科技成果转化应用、完善考评机制等方面提出了加强科技服务工作的对策。

Activation of the local renin-angiotensin system(RAS)promotes cardiomyocyte apoptosis and cardiac remodeling after acute myocardial infarction(AMI).As an anti-RAS drug,the effect of Valsartan in the early stage of acute MI is limited by its low drug concentration in the heart and low dosage.Here,by exploiting the inherent nature of neutrophils migrating to the injured myocardium and the local low-pH microenvironment caused by ischemia and hypoxia after myocardial infarction,we designed nanocarrier(NSLP)-hybridized neutrophil membranes and pH-sensitive liposomes(SLPs)for the delivery of Valsartan(NSLPVal).These functional nanocarriers could mimic neutrophils and are homed to the injured heart;they were also found to respond to a low-pH microenvironment.In the mouse model of MI,we found that NSLP-Val could target the infarct marginal zone and release Valsartan locally in the low-pH microenvironment without affecting hemodynamic stability.Further,locally released angiotensin receptor inhibitors reduced the infarct size and inflammatory response by inhibiting cardiomyocytes.Ultimately,NSLP-Val improved cardiac function and inhibited cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis.

Despite the advances made over the past decades, the known loci for coronary artery disease(CAD) still only explain<20% of the genetic variation in risk[1,2]. The known loci with the strongest effects usually confer a 20%–37% increased CAD risk and the most loci modulate risk by ≤10% [1]. While most of the current data are from European populations, the use of trans-ethnic analyses could be helpful to identify additional loci. Genetic inheritance may impose a high burden on early-onset coronary artery disease(EOCAD).

The aim of this study was to observe the changes in glucose metabolism after antipsychotic(APS)therapy,to note the influencing factors,as well as to discuss the relationship between the occurrence of glucose metabolism disorders of APS origin and abnormal glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c)levels.One hundred and fifty-two patients with schizophrenia,whose fasting plasma glucose(FPG)and 2-h plasma glucose(2hPG)in the oral glucose tolerance test(2HPG)were normal,were grouped according to the HbA1c levels,one normal and the other abnormal,and were randomly enrolled into risperidone,clozapine and chlorpromazine treatment for six weeks.The FPG and 2hPG were measured at the baseline and at the end of the study.In the group with abnormal HbA1c and clozapine therapy,2HPG was higher after the study[(9.5±1.8)mmol/L]than that before the study[(7.2±1.4)mmol/L]and the difference was statistically significant(P0.05).HbA1c levels and drugs contributing to 2HPG at the end of study had statistical cross-action(P0.05).2HPG before[(7.1±1.6)mmol/L]and after the study[(8.1±1.9)mmol/L]was higher in the abnormal HbA1c group than in the normal HbA1c group[(6.2±1.4)mmol/L vs(6.5±1.4)mmol/L]with the difference being statistically significant(P<0.01 vs P<0.001).As compared with normal HbA1c group,the relative risk(RR)of glucose metabolism disease occurrence was 4.7 in the abnormal HbA1c group with the difference being statistically significant(P<0.001).Patients with abnormal HbA1c are more likely to have a higher risk of having glucose metabolism disorders

microRNA-210(miR-210)has generally been reported to be associated with cell survival under hypoxia.However,there are few data regarding the role of miR-210 in the survival of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)under oxidative stress conditions.Thus,we sought to investigate whether miR-210 over-expression could protect MSCs against oxidative stress injury and what the primary mechanisms involved are.The results showed that over-expression of miR-210 significantly reduced the apoptosis of MSCs under oxidative stress,accompanied by obvious increases in cell viability and superoxide dismutase activity and remarkable decreases in malonaldehyde content and reactive oxygen species production,resulting in a noticeable reduction of apoptotic indices when compared with the control.Moreover,the above beneficial effects of miR-210 could be significantly reduced by c-Met pathway repression.Collectively,these results showed that miR-210 over-expression improved MSC survival under oxidative stress through antioxidation and c-Met pathway activation,indicating the potential development of a novel approach to enhance the efficacy of MSC-based therapy for injured myocardium.

Dear Editor, First discovered during 1947 in Uganda from febrile rhesus macaques, Zika virus （ZIKV） is a mosquito-borne, reemerging flavivirus historically known to be present in much of Africa and Asia, occasionally causing outbreaks amongst the local populace （Haddow et al., 2012）. ZIKV infections in humans are mostly asymptomatic, but a small percentage of patients may show clinical symptoms such as a fever and rash, which resolve within a week or less.

以国家级创新型企业为研究对象,结合创新型企业价值评估理论基础,构建了包含企业创新能力指标的企业价值评估体系,并运用熵权模糊物元综合评价方法和PB/PE估值法评估创新型企业价值。结果显示,创新能力指标在创新型企业价值评估中的权重高于其他指标,显示了创新能力对创新型企业价值评估的重要性;PE估值法能够降低创新型企业的行业/企业间差异,避免企业创新驱动下的增长不确定性引起的市场价值偏离,其估值结果更接近于创新型企业的实际价值。
