AIM: To evaluate the prevalence of autoantibodies in chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV)-infected children focusing on thyroid autoimmunity. METHODS: We investigated the prevalence of auto- antibodies in 123 chronic HCV-infected children before, during and after monotherapy with interferon-alpha (IFN-α) or combined treatment with interferon-α or peginterferon-α and ribavirin. Besides antibodies against smooth muscle (SMA), nuclei (ANA), and liver/kidney microsomes (LKM), the incidence of anti- thyroid peroxidase antibodies as well as thyroid function parameters (TSH, FT3 and FT4) were determined. RESULTS: We found that 8% of children had autoantibodies before treatment. During treatment, 18% of children were found positive for at least one autoantibody; 15.5% of children developed pathologic thyroid values during IFN-α treatment compared to only one child before therapy. Six children had to be substituted while developing laboratory signs of hypothyroidism. CONCLUSION: Our data indicate a strong correlation between interferon-α treatment and autoimmune phenomena, notably the emergence of thyroid antibodies. The fact that some children required hormone replacement underlines the need of close monitoring in particularly those who respond to therapy and have to be treated for more than 6 mo.

白蚁是亚热带和热带地区最重要的死木质残体分解者之一,其种群的繁衍与死木质残体的数量相关。然而,森林经营者会定期在森林抚育的过程中将枯折、病腐、濒死等影响其他正常树木生长的粗死木质残体移除,留下较小的细木质残体。为探究粗死木质残体的数量与生物量是否会影响白蚁对细木质残体的分解作用,本论文以"中国亚热带森林生物多样性与生态系统功能实验研究"项目（简称BEF-China）的大型森林人工控制实验样地为研究平台,选取136个面积为1亩的森林群落样方,放置了7种不同树种的细木质残体（直径1-3cm）,调查白蚁在1年及2年后是否出现在细木质残体中（Presence/Absence,PA）,细木质残体质量损失率（Decomposition Rate,DEC）,以及因白蚁取食而引起的细木质残体体积损失率（Termite Foraging Intensity,TFI）。我们基于此前样地每木调查中树木是否断裂（0/1）数据,估算样地内已有及潜在的粗死木质残体的单位面积数量（Quantity of Coarse Woody Debris,QWD）。采用广义线性回归模型（分析白蚁出没PA）、零一膨胀beta模型（分析体积损失率）以及线性混合效应模型（分析质量损失率）进行相关分析,结果显示,（1）除了1年后杉木中白蚁出没情况PA明显少于其他物种,其他物种之间以及2年后7个物种之间细木质残体中白蚁的出没情况PA并没有明显差异;（2）粗死木质残体数量QWD在1年及2年后均促进白蚁在细木质残体中的出没情况PA;（3）粗死木质残体数量QWD在2年后促进体积损失率TFI;（4）1年及2年后因白蚁取食引起的体积损失率TFI均显著促进质量损失率DEC。上述结果表明,森林中粗细木质残体较高的数量能促进白蚁更多地造访细木质残体,通过白蚁的取食提升细木质残体的分解速率。基于此研究,建议森林经营者维持粗死木质残体存蓄,以促进细木质残体的分解速率,加快营养元素的循环。

Background:The utility of neoadjuvant treatment for resectable pancreas cancer is yet to be determined,but has commonly included *** evaluated outcomes in patients with radiographically resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy without ***:A retrospective review of patients in our institutional pancreatic cancer registry was performed,which identified 36 patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy alone for resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma between 2012 and ***:Median age at diagnosis was 66.3 *** regimens included gemcitabine(n=17),gemcitabine/nab-paclitaxel(n=8),or 5-FU/leucovorin/irinotecan/oxaliplatin(FOLFIRINOX)(n=11).Surgical resection was performed in 69%of patients(n=25),with an R0 resection rate of 92%(n=23 patients).During chemotherapy,distant disease became apparent in 19%of patients(n=7),while no patients had evidence of local *** rates were similar between chemotherapy regimens(single agent=59%,multiple agent=79%).Median overall survival for all patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy was 30.3 and 34.4 months for those who underwent surgical *** was no difference in median survival for patients treated with gemcitabine(31.3 months)or multi-agent chemotherapy(29.7 months).Conclusions:A short course of neoadjuvant chemotherapy without chemoradiation may improve patient selection prior to surgical resection for pancreas ***,local disease progression did not limit surgical resection in this small series.
