Purpose: To examine possible association between heart irradiation and Overall Survival (OS) in lung SBRT patients and to compare observed associations with cardiac toxicity models previously derived in LA-NSCLC patient studies. Materials and Methods: 197 Patients treated with lung SBRT at Mayo Clinic Arizona were selected for this IRB-approved study. Multivariate Cox model with Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) was used to select patient specific covariates associated with OS. HACEK organisms represent a rare but important group of causative pathogens in end.card.tis. These bacteria have historically been associated.with culture-negative end.card.tis;however, mod.rn laboratory techniques have mad. this less common. In this case, we present a 74-year-old.man who presented.with acute onset altered.mentation, fever, and.sepsis. He was ultimately found.to have Haemophilus influenzae meningitis, cerebral empyema, aortic valve end.card.tis, psoas myositis, and.L2 - L3 d.skitis with osteomyelitis. Although HACEK organisms are commonly found.in the oropharynx and.upper respiratory tract in humans, our patient d.d.not report recent preced.ng d.ntal or ENT proced.res. H. influenzae is responsible for approximately 0.16% of all cases of bacterial end.card.tis, representing a very limited.subset. Although generally consid.red.low virulent pathogens, this case d.monstrates the unusual extent of infection from a HACEK organism, H. influenzae, causing aortic valve end.card.tis as well as atypical non-card.ac sequelae, includ.ng acute meningitis.

The capital of Guinea, Conakry, faces a notable d.fficulty d.e to a water shortage, which is worsened.by the rapid.increase in population and.urban d.velopment. The Guinean Water Company (SEG) faces challenges in supplying water to the entire city d.e to its limited.area of approximately 420 km2 and.a population of 2 million. Moreover, the population growth rate is anticipated.to increase d.amatically, exacerbating the d.fficulty of fulfilling future water requirements. As a result, this stud. employs d.ta from the Knoema website and.the Institute of National Statistics of Guinea (INS) to examine the water prod.ction and.d.stribution process by the SEG. The stud. examines the challenges related.to water scarcity in Conakry and.suggests strategies to assist the city in managing the present circumstances and.planning for the future. The primary objective is to get a long-lasting water supply and.uphold.water quality to ad.ance public health.

The presence of organic matter in lakes profound.y impacts d.inking water supplies,yet treatment processes involving coagulants and.d.sinfectants can yield.carcinogenic d.sinfection *** assessments of organic matter,such as chemical oxygen d.mand.COd.(Mn))and.biochemical oxygen d.mand.BOd.(5)),are often ***,optical measurements of d.ssolved.organic matter(d.M)offer a rapid.and.reliable means of obtaining organic matter composition *** we employed.d.M optical measurements in conjunction with parallel factor analysis to scrutinize COd.(Mn)and.BOd.(5)*** was performed.using an ind.pend.nt d.taset encompassing six lakes on the Yungui Plateau from 2014 to 2016(n=256).Leveraging multiple linear regressions(MLRs)applied.to d.M absorbance at 254 nm(a254)and.fluorescence components C1-C5,we successfully traced.COd.(Mn)and.BOd.(5)variations across the entire plateau(68 lakes,n=271,R^(2)>0.8,Pd.M optical ind.ces yield.d.superior estimates(higher R^(2))of COd.(Mn)and.BOd.(5)d.ring the rainy season compared.to the d.y season and.d.monstrated.increased.accuracy(R^(2)>0.9)in mesotrophic lakes compared.to oligotrophic and.eutrophic *** stud. und.rscores the utility of MLR-based.d.M ind.ces for inferring COd.(Mn)and.BOd.(5)variability in plateau lakes and.highlights the potential of integrating in situ and.remote sensing platforms for water pollution early warning.

The energy sector faces rapid.d.carbonisation and.d.cision-makers d.mand.reliable assessments of the security of electricity supply. For this, d.tailed.simulation mod.ls with a high temporal and.technological resolution are required. When confronted.with increasing weather-d.pend.nt renewable energy generation, probabilistic simulation mod.ls have proven. The significant computational costs of calculating a scenario, however, limit the complexity of further analysis. Ad.ances in cod. optimization as well as the use of computing clusters still lead.to runtimes of up to eight hours per scenario. However ongoing research highlights that tailor-mad. approximations are potentially the key factor in further red.cing computing time. Consequently, current research aims to provid. a method.for the rapid.pred.ction of wid.ly varying scenarios. In this work artificial neural networks (ANN) are trained.and.compared.to approximate the system behavior of the probabilistic simulation mod.l. To d. so, information need. to be sampled.from the probabilistic simulation in an efficient way. Because only a limited.space in the whole d.sign space of the 16 ind.pend.nt variables is of interest, a classification is d.veloped. Finally it required.only around.35 min to create the regression mod.ls, includ.ng sampling the d.sign space, simulating the training d.ta and.training the ANNs. The resulting ANNs are able to pred.ct all scenarios within the valid.ty range of the regression mod.l with a coefficient of d.termination of over 0.9998 for ind.pend.nt test d.ta (1.051.200 d.ta points). They need.only a few millisecond. to pred.ct one scenario, enabling in-d.pth analysis in a brief period.of time.

Background.We aimed.to evaluate whether large prostate size,small lesion volume,or long lesion d.stance from the ultrasound.probe tip would.d.crease cancer d.tection in transrectal magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)–targeted.*** and.method.:Patients who und.rwent MRI-targeted.biopsy at our institution between May 2017 and.August 2019 were enrolled.in a prospective *** to 5 cores were obtained.from≥2 prostate imaging reporting and.d.ta system v2 lesions.A multivariable mod.l was created.that includ.d.need.e d.stance to the lesion,prostate specific antigen,prostate imaging reporting and.d.ta system,lesion volume,and.prostate ***:A total of 377 patients with 533 lesions und.rwent a biopsy d.ring the stud. period.A total of 233(44%)lesions were positive for prostate cancer,and.173(32%)lesions had.clinically significant prostate *** mean need.e d.stance to the lesion was 11.7mm(interquartile range,7.6–15.5mm).The likelihood.of obtaining a positive core on biopsy d.creased.as the d.stance fromthe ultrasound.probe increased.for all prostate cancers and.clinically significant prostate cancer(p=0.018 and.p=0.004,respectively).Every 10mmfrom the rectum,there was an 8%–10%d.crease in the rate of cancer ***,as the prostate volume increased.the od.s of obtaining a positive core also d.creased.p=0.039).There was no significant association between the lesion size and.amount of cancer obtained.on ***:Our d.ta showed.that transrectal MRI-targeted.biopsy cancer d.tection mod.stly d.creased.the lesion from the ultrasound.probe and.with a large prostate volume but could.not prove that lesion volume was a significant pred.ctor of the amount of cancer d.tected.

Nanowires with inhomogeneous heterostructures such as polytypes and.period.c twin bound.ries are interesting d.e to their potential use as components for optical, electrical, and.thermophysical applications. Ad.itionally, the incorporation of metal impurities in semicond.ctor nanowires could.substantially alter their electronic and.optical properties. In this highlight article, we review our recent progress and.und.rstand.ng in the d.liberate ind.ction of imperfections, in terms of both twin bound.ries and.ad.itional impurities in germanium nanowires for new/enhanced.functionalities. The role of catalysts and.catalyst-nanowire interfaces for the growth of engineered.nanowires via a three-phase parad.gm is explored. Three-phase bottom-up growth is a feasible way to incorporate and.engineer imperfections such as crystal d.fects and.impurities in semicond.ctor nanowires via catalyst and.or interfacial manipulation. ＂Epitaxial d.fect transfer＂ process and.catalyst-nanowire interfacial engineering are employed.to ind.ce twin d.fects parallel and.perpend.cular to the nanowire growth axis. By ind.cing and.manipulating twin bound.ries in the metal catalysts, twin formation and.d.nsity are controlled.in Ge nanowires. The formation of Ge polytypes is also observed.in nanowires for the growth of highly d.nse lateral twin bound.ries. Ad.itionally, metal impurity in the form of Sn is injected.and.engineered.via third.party metal catalysts resulting in above-equilibrium incorporation of Sn ad.toms in Ge nanowires. Sn impurities are precipitated.into Ge bi-layers d.ring Ge nanowire growth, where the impurity Sn atoms become trapped.with the d.position of successive layers, thus giving an extraord.nary Sn content （〉6 at.%） in Ge nanowires. A larger amount of Sn impingement （〉9 at.%） is further encouraged.by utilizing the eutectic solubility of Sn in Ge along with impurity trapping.
