This paper describes the ef.ect of.the composition of.the oxide f.lms on the properties of.electrodes Ti/MxTiySnzO2 (M = Ir or Ru) prepared by the polymeric precursor method. XRD studies showed that the anodes are f.rmed by solid solutions. The electrodes containing IrO2 exhibit lower activity f.r the oxygen evolution reaction. The doping of.the electrode surf.ce with SnO2 improves the catalytic properties of.the anodes. However, it should be held in appropriate compositions, because the change in the atomic ratio of.this element shows a marked ef.ect on the stability of.the oxides. Electrode Ti/Ir0.2Ti0.3Sn0.5O2 has lower lif.time, i.e. 6 hours. The 20% decrease in the stoichiometric amount of.SnO2 increases the time to a value above 70 hours, as observed f.r Ti/Ir0.3Ti0.4Sn0.3O2. Electrode Ti/Ru0.3Ti0.4Sn0.3O2 shows lif.time of.11 hours;theref.re IrO2 is more stable than RuO2 under the conditions investigated. These results suggest that electrode Ti/Ir0.3Ti0.4Sn0.3O2 is promising f.r dif.erent applications, such as water electrolysis, capacitors and organic electrosynthesis.

Arachis retusa Krapov. et W. C. Gregory et Valls is endemic in the West-central region of.Brazil, occurring In areas endangered by human actions. The establishment of.in vitro preservation methods f.r wild species of.Arachis is an alternative to seed banks f.r germplasm storage, multiplication and distribution. The risk of.genetic changes Induced by tissue culture and the monitoring of.the genetic stability of.the biological material bef.re, during and af.er storage must be considered In the context of.conservation. Random amplif.ed polymorphlc ONA （RAPO） and amplif.ed f.agment length polymorphism （Af.P） f.ngerprinting were used to evaluate the genetic stability of.in vitro plants originated f.om cotyledons and embryo axes of.A. retusa. Cotyledons originated shoots through direct organogenesls and embryo axes displayed muItishoot f.rmation Induced by 110 mmol/L and 8.8 mmol/L BAP, respectively. Ninety genomlc regions （loci） generated f.om RAPO and 372 f.om Af.P analyses were evaluated. All amplif.ed f.agments detected by both techniques in plants derived f.om the two explant types were monomorphic. The results Indicate that the recovered shoots are genetically stable at the assessed genomic regions.

Brain injuries in sports drew more and more public attentions in recent years. Brain injuries vary by name, type, and severity in the athletic setting. It should be noted, however, that these injuries are not isolated to only the athletic arena, as non-athletic mechanisms （e.g., motor vehicle accidents） are more common causes of.traumatic brain injuries （TBI） among teenagers. Notwithstanding, as many as 1.6 to 3.8 million TBI result f.om sports and recreation each year in the United States alone. These injuries are extremely costly to the global health care system, and make TBI among the most expensive conditions to treat in children. This article serves to def.ne common brain injuries in sport; describe their prevalence, what happens to the brain f.llowing injury, how to recognize and manage these injuries, and what you can expect as the athlete recovers. Some return-to-activity considerations f.r the brain-injured athlete will also be discussed.

Modelling Animal Activity as Curves: An Approach Using Wavelet-Based f.nctional Data Analysis

Temporal activity patterns in animals emerge f.om complex interactions between choices made by organisms as responses to biotic interactions and challenges posed by external f.ctors. Temporal activity pattern is an inherently continuous process, even being recorded as a time series. The discreteness of.the data set is clearly due to data-acquisition limitations rather than a true underlying discrete nature of.the phenomenon itself. Theref.re, curves are a natural representation f.r high-f.equency data. Here, we f.lly model temporal activity data as curves integrating wavelets and f.nctional data analysis, allowing f.r testing hypotheses based on curves rather than on scalar and vector-valued data. Temporal activity data were obtained experimentally f.r males and f.males of.a small-bodied marsupial and modelled as wavelets with independent and identically distributed errors and dependent errors. The null hypothesis of.no dif.erence in temporal activity pattern between male and f.male curves was tested with f.nctional analysis of.variance (f.NOVA). The null hypothesis was rejected by f.NOVA and we discussed the dif.erences in temporal activity pattern curves between males and f.males in terms of.ecological and lif.-history attributes of.the ref.rence species. We also perf.rmed numerical analysis that shed light on the regularity properties of.the wavelet bases used and the thresholding parameters.

Inf.uence of.Agitation and Aeration on Single Cell Oil Production by Rhodotorula glutinis f.om Glycerol

In the present study, the yeast Rhodotorula glutinis has been assessed with the aim of.producing microbial lipids f.om glycerol under dif.erent aeration conditions. f.r such a purpose, experiments were carried out in shake f.asks, under dif.erent conditions of.agitation (150 to 250 rpm) and aeration (2.5 to 5.0 of.f.ask volume-to-medium volume ratio). f.rthermore, their inf.uence on f.rmentative parameters (lipid and cell concentration, biomass yield;lipid yield;and lipid volumetric productivity) has been investigated using a 22 f.ll f.ctorial design. The statistical analysis has revealed a strong inf.uence of.both variables on substrate consumption, lipid accumulation, cell growth and lipid productivity. As a whole, results suggest that higher aeration levels provide greater cell and lipid concentrations, and lipid volumetric productivity. The best results (4.5 g/L of.lipids and QP = 0.95 g/L⋅day) were achieved at the highest aeration (5.0 f.ask volume-to-medium volume ratio) and agitation (250 rpm) levels. Their f.tty acid prof.le showed that oleic acid was produced in greater quantity (53.5%), f.llowed by linoleic acid (18.7%), palmitic acid (6.8%) and stearic acid (9.9%). The microbial oil presented viscosity of.39.3 cP at 50°C and f.ee f.tty acid content of.1.93% ± 0.08%. These are signif.cant results and contribute to establishing operational conditions that maximize single-cell oil production f.om glycerol by Rhodotorula glutinis, i.e. an alternative source as renewable raw material f.r lipid-based bioref.neries.
