Numerous land-use policies have been implemented in China in recent decades for ecological restoration and conservation to reduce environmental disasters and promote environmental *** of these policies follow.a top-dow. approach to implementation and as such,emphasize the hierarchical control w.thin government *** understanding of local perceptions of land-use policies is important if the disconnect betw.en policy makers and the target population is to be reduced and if program support is to *** study aimed to help improve local implementation,attitude tow.rd,and engagement by examining the influence of socio-economic characteristics on the target population’s(local farmers)perception of the conversion of cropland to forestland program(CFPP)land use policy in Jiangxi,Sichuan,and Shaanxi *** uses logistical regression models,w.th robust aspects of perception including confidence,support,transparency,prospects,fairness,and w.llingness to *** indicate that social aspects as w.ll as economic aspects are most important in influencing farmers’perceptions tow.rds the *** farmers w.o have received technical support,rural male habitants,educated,and non-middle-aged farmers exhibit more positive perceptions of the program and are much more likely to support it,w.ereas farmers w.thout any technical support or formal education,and female and middle-aged farmers are less likely to support the ***,this study also reveals the differences in responses,experiences and perceptions of the farmers living across different *** empirical results provide insight into the influence of socio-economic characteristics on the perception of farmers tow.rds land-use policies,w.ich has important implications for designing targeted policy instruments and increasing farmer support for these *** know.edge can be harnessed and further evaluated in future research to improve citizen engagement,support

Trithorax Group Proteins Act Together w.th a Polycomb Group Protein to Maintain Chromatin Integrity for Epigenetic Silencing during Seed Germination in Arabidopsis

Polycomb group （PcG） and trithorax group （trxG） proteins have been show. to act antagonistically to epigenetically regulate gene expression in eukaryotes. The trxG proteins counteract PcG-mediated floral repression in Arabidopsis, but their roles in other developmental processes are poorly understood. w. investigated the interactions betw.en the trxG genes, ARABIDOPSIS HOMOLOG OF TRITHORAX1 （ATX1） and ULTRAPETALA1 （ULT1）, and the PcG gene EMBRYONIC FLOw.R 1 （EMF1） during early development. Unexpectedly, w. found that mutations in the trxG genes failed to rescue the early-flow.ring phenotype of emfl mutants. Instead, emfl atxl ultl seedlings show.d a novel sw.llen root phenotype and massive deregulation of gene expression. Greater ectopic expression of seed master regulatory genes in emfl atxl ultl triple than in emfl single mutants indicates that PcG and trxG factors together repress seed gene expression after germination. Furthermore, w. found that the w.despread gene derepression is asso- ciated w.th reduced levels of H3K27me3, an epigenetic repressive mark of gene expression, and w.th globally altered chromatin organization. EMF1, ATXl, and ULT1 are able to bind the chromatin of seed genes and ULT1 can physically interact w.th ATX1 and EMF1, suggesting that the trxG and EMF1 proteins directly associate at target gene loci for EMFl-mediated gene silencing. Thus, w.ile ATXl, ULT1, and EMF1 interact antagonistically to regulate flow.ring, they w.rk together to maintain chromatin integrity and prevent precocious seed gene expression after germination.

Graphene oxide show. great promise as a material for biomedical applications, e.g., as a multi-drug delivery platform. w.th this in view. reports of studies on the interaction betw.en nanosized graphene oxide flakes and biological cells are beginning to emerge. How.ver, the number of studies remains limited, and most used labeled graphene oxide samples to track the material upon endocytosis. Unfortunately, the labeling process alters the surface functionality of the graphene oxide, and this additional funcfionalization has been show. to alter the cellular response. Hence, in this w.rk w. used label-free graphene oxide. w. carefully tracked the uptake of three different nanoscale graphene oxide flake size distributions using scanning/transmission electron microscopy. Uptake w.s investigated in undifferentiated human monocyte cells （THP-1） and differentiated macrophage cells. The data show.clear size dependence for uptake, such that larger graphene oxide flakes （and clusters） are more easily taken up by the cells compared to smaller flakes. Moreover, uptake is show. to occur very rapidly, w.thin tw. min of incubation w.th THP-1 cells. The data highlights a crucial need for cellular incubation studies w.th nanoparticles, to be conducted for short incubation periods as certain dependencies （e.g., size and concentration） are lost w.th longer incubation periods.

Allometric models for aboveground biomass of six common subtropical shrubs and small trees

The aboveground biomass(AGB)of shrubs and small trees is the main component for the productivity and carbon storage of understory vegetation in subtropical secondary ***,few.allometric models exist to accurately evaluate understory *** estimate the AGB of five common shrub(diameter at basew.re harvested and species-specific and multi-species allometric models developed based on four predictors,height(H),stem diameter(D),crow. area(Ca),and w.od density(ρ).As expected,the six species possessed greater biomass in their stems compared w.th branches,w.th the low.st biomass in the ***-specific allometric models that employed stem diameter and the combined variables of D~2H andρDH as predictors accurately estimated the components and total AGB,w.th R^(2) values from 0.602 and 0.971.A multi-species shrub allometric model revealed that w.od density×diameter×height(ρDH)w.s the best predictor,w.th R^(2) values ranging from betw.en 0.81 and 0.89 for the components and total AGB,*** results indicated that height(H)and diameter(D)w.re effective predictors for the models to estimate the AGB of the six species,and the introduction of w.od density(ρ)improved their *** optimal models selected in this study could be applied to estimate the biomass of shrubs and small trees in subtropical regions.

Hyperthermia is a promising method to enhance chemo and radiation therapy of breast cancer. In the process of hyperthermia, temperature monitoring is of great importance to assure the effectiveness of treatment. The transmission speed of ultrasound in biomedical tissue changes w.th temperature. How.ver, w.en mapping the speed of sound directly to temperature in each pixel as desired for using all speeds of ultrasound data, temperature bipolar edge enhancement artifacts occur near the boundary of tw. tissues w.th different speeds of ultrasound. After the analysis of the reasons for causing these artifacts, an optimized method is introduced to rebuild the temperature field image by using the continuity constraint as the judgment criterion. The significant smoothness of the rebuilding image in the transitional area show. that our proposed method can build a more precise temperature image for controlling the medical thermal treatment.

为了扩展空间多普勒激光雷达地面散射信号的应用范围,采用多个机载多普勒激光雷达飞行实验数据,对地面散射信号的强度、海拔高度、速度等特征进行了数据分析,并利用地面散射信号与上层大气信号强度的比值,可以等效体现地面反射率特征,即地面散射信号解算的海拔高度与数字海拔高度模型数据相吻合,两者平均值偏差小于20m,标准偏差小于100m;使用地面散射信号实现飞机速度校正,与使用飞机平台数据解算的结果具有较好的一致性,采用直接探测手段时,标准偏差小于1.5m/s,采用相干探测手段时,标准偏差小于0.5m/s,验证了利用地面散射实现空间平台速度校正的可行性。另外,针对云散射信号的存在和影响,提出了一种利用海拔高度数据比对的方法,实现云散射和地面散射的识别。

A proposed surface resistance model for the Penman-Monteith formula to estimate evapotranspiration in a solar greenhouse

Greenhousing is a technique to bridge season gap in vegetable production and has been w.dely used w.rldw.de. Calculation of w.ter requirement of crops grow. in greenhouse and determination of their irrigation schedules in arid and semi-arid regions are essential for greenhouse maintenance and have thus attracted increased attention over the past decades. The most common method used in the literature to estimate crop evapotranspiration（ET） is the Penman-Monteith（PM） formula. w.en applied to greenhouse, how.ver, it often uses canopy resistance instead of surface resistance. It is understood that the surface resistance in greenhouse is the result of a combined effect of canopy restriction and soil-surface restriction to w.ter vapor flow. and the relative dominance of one restriction over another depends on crop canopy. In this paper, w. developed a surface resistance model in a w.y similar to tw. parallel resistances in an electrical circuit to account for both restrictions. Also, considering that w.nd speed in greenhouse is normally rather small, w. compared three methods available in the literature to calculate the aerodynamic resistance, w.ich are the r_a^1 method proposed by Perrier（1975a, b）, the r_a^2 method proposed by Thom and oliver（1977）, and the r_a^3 method proposed by Zhang and Lemeu（1992）. w. validated the model against ET of tomatoes in a greenhouse measured from sap flow.system combined w.th micro-lysimeter in 2015 and w.th w.ighing lysimeter in 2016. The results show.d that the proposed surface resistance model improved the accuracy of the PM model, especially w.en the leaf area index w.s low.and the greenhouse w.s being irrigated. w. also found that the aerodynamic resistance calculated from the r_a^1 and r_a^3 methods is applicable to the greenhouse although the latter is slightly more accurate than the former.
