Soil degradation, including rocky desertification,of the karst regions in China is severe. Karst landscapes are especially sensitive to soil degradation as carbonate rocks are nutrient-poor and easily eroded. Understanding the balance betw.en soil formation and soil erosion is critical for long-term soil sustainability, yet little is know. about the initial soil forming processes on karst terrain. Herein w. examine the initial w.athering processes of several types of carbonate bedrock containing varying amounts of non-carbonate minerals in the SPECTRA Critical Zone Observatory, Guizhou Province, Southw.st China. w. compared the w.athering mechanisms of the bedrock to the mass transfer of mineral nutrients in a soil profile developed on these rocks and found that soil formation and nutrient contents are strongly dependent upon the w.athering of interbedded layers of more silicate-rich bedrock(marls). Atmospheric inputs from dust w.re also detected.

Since the preparation of labeled datafor training semantic segmentation netw.rks of pointclouds is a time-consuming process, w.akly supervisedapproaches have been introduced to learn fromonly a small fraction of data. These methods aretypically based on learning w.th contrastive losses w.ileautomatically deriving per-point pseudo-labels from asparse set of user-annotated labels. In this paper, ourkey observation is that the selection of w.ich samplesto annotate is as important as how.these samplesare used for training. Thus, w. introduce a methodfor w.akly supervised segmentation of 3D scenes thatcombines self-training w.th active learning. Activelearning selects points for annotation that are likelyto result in improvements to the trained model, w.ileself-training makes efficient use of the user-providedlabels for learning the model. w. demonstrate thatour approach leads to an effective method that providesimprovements in scene segmentation over previousw.rk and baselines, w.ile requiring only a few.userannotations.

Comparison Betw.en Reconstructions of Global Anthropogenic Land Cover Change over Past Tw. Millennia

Three global datasets, the History Database of the Global Environment （HYDE）, Kaplan and Krurnhardt （KK） and Pongratz of reconstructed anthropogenic land cover change （ALCC） w.re introduced and compared in this paper. The HYDE dataset w.s recon- structed by Goldew.jk and his colleagues at the National institute of Public ttealth and the Environment in Netherland, covering the past 12 000 years. The KK dataset w.s reconstructed by Kaplan and his colleagues, the Soil-Vegetation-Atmosphere Research Group at the Institute of Environmental Engineering in Sw.tzerland, covering the past 8000 years. The Pongratz dataset w.s reconstructed by Pon- gratz and her colleagues at the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology in Germany, coveting AD 800-1992. The results show.that the reconstructed datasets are quite different from each other due to the different methods used. The three datasets all allocated the historical ALCC according to human population density. The main reason causing the differences among the three datasets lies on the different relationships betw.en population density and land use used in each reconstructed dataset. The KK dataset is better than the other tw. datasets for tw. important reasons. First, it used the nonlinear relationship betw.en population density and land use, w.ile the other tw. used the linear relationship. Second, Kaplan and his colleagues adopted the technological development and intensification parameters and considered the w.od harvesting and the long-term fallow.area resulted from shifting cultivation, w.ich w.re neglected in the recon- structions of the other tw. datasets. Therefore, the KK dataset is more suitable as one of the anthropogenic forcing fields for climate simulation over the past tw. millennia that is recently concerned by tw. projects, the National Basic Research Program and the Strategic and Special Frontier Project of Science and Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The Fe–Sn-based kagome compounds attract intensive attention due to its attractive topological transport and rich magnetic *** experimental data,first-principles calculations,and Calphad assessment,thermodynamic and topological transport properties of the Fe–Sn system w.re *** functional theory(DFT)calculations w.re performed to evaluate the intermetallics’finite-temperature heat capacity(C_(p)).A consistent thermodynamic assessment of the Fe–Sn phase diagram w.s achieved by using the experimental and DFT results,together w.th all available data from previous ***,w. report that the metastable phase Fe_(3)Sn w.s introduced into the current metastable phase diagram,and corrected phase locations of Fe_(5)Sn_(3)and Fe_(3)Sn_(2)under the new.y measured corrected temperature ***,the anomalous Hall conductivity and anomalous Nernst conductivity of Fe_(3)Sn w.re calculated,w.th magnetization directions and doping considered as perturbations to tune such transport *** w.s observed that the enhanced anomalous Hall and Nernst conductivities originate from the combination of nodal lines and small gap areas that can be tuned by doping Mn at Fe sites and varying magnetization direction.

A prediction based bandw.dth allocation scheme for transporting MPEG VBR traffic is proposed by using the FARIMA (p,d,q) (fractional autoregressive integrated moving average) *** (p,d,q) model is capable of capturing both the long range and short range dependence in the video traffic.A method is suggested to simplify the FARIMA model fitting procedure and hence to reduce the time of traffic modeling and *** simulation experiments show.that this scheme can significantly reduce the requirement of buffer size and the frame loss rate.
