AIM: To track the short-term neck narrowing changes in Birmingham metal-on-metal hip resurfacing(MOMHR) patients. METHODS: Since 2001, the Center for Hip and Knee Replacement started a registry to prospectively collect data on hip and knee replacement patients. From June 2006 to October 2008, 139 MOMHR were performed at our center by two participate surgeons using Birmingham MOMHR prosthesis(Smith Nephew, United States). It is standard of care for patients to obtain low, anteriorposterior(LAP) pelvis radiographs immediately after MOMHR procedure and then at 3 mo, 1 year and 2 year follow up office visits. Inclusion criteria for the present study included patients who came back for follow up office visit at above mentioned time points and got LAP radiographs. Exclusion criteria include patients who missed more than two follow up time points and those with poor-quality X-rays. Two orthopaedic residency trained research fellows reviewed the X-rays independently at 4 time points, i.e., immediate after surgery, 3 mo, 1 year and 2 year. Neck-to-prosthesis ratio(NPR) was used as main outcome measure. Twenty cases were used as subjects to identify the reliability between two observers. An intraclass correlation coefficient at 0.8 was considered as satisfied. A paired t-test was used to evaluate the significant difference between different time points with P < 0.05 considered to be statistically ***: The mean NPRs were 0.852 ± 0.056, 0.839 ± 0.052, 0.835 ± 0.051, 0.83 ± 0.04 immediately, 3 mo, 1 year and 2 years post-operatively respectively. At 3 mo, NPR was significantly different from immediate postoperative X-ray(P < 0.001). There was no difference between 3 mo and 1 year(P = 0.14) and 2 years(P = 0.53). Femoral neck narrowing(FNN) exceeding 10% of the diameter of the neck was observed in only 4 patients(5.6%) at two years follow up. None of these patients developed a femoral neck fracture(FNF). Aim： To investigate whether the biological process of superparamagnetic iron oxide （SPIO）-labeled human mesenchymal stem cells （hMSCs） may be monitored non-invasively by using in vivo magnetic resonance （MR） imaging with conventional 1.5-T system examinations in corpus cavernosa of rats and rabbits. Methods： The labeling efficiency and viability of SP10-labeled hMSCs were examined with Prussian blue and Tripan blue, respectively. After SPIO-labeled hMSCs were transplanted to the corpus cavernosa of rats and rabbits, serial T2-weighted MR images were taken and histological examinations were carried out over a 4-week period. Results： hMSCs loaded with SPIO compared to unlabeled cells had a similar viability. For SPIO-labeled hMSCs more than lx 105 concentration in vitro, MR images showed a decrease in signal intensity. MR signal intensity at the areas of SPIO-labeled hMSCs in the rat and rabbit corpus cavernosa decreased and was confined locally. After injection of SPIO-labeled hMSCs into the corpus cavernosum, MR imaging demonstrated that hMSCs could be seen for at least 12 weeks after injection. The presence of iron was confirmed with Prussian blue staining in histological sections. Conclusion： SP10-labeled hMSCs in corpus cavernosa of rats and rabbits can be evaluated non-invasively by molecular MR imaging. Our findings suggest that MR imaging has the ability to test the long-term therapeutic potential of hMSCs in animals in the setting of erectile dysfunction.

HANBIT is a magnetic mirror confinement device. Recent physics experimentshave been mainly focused on identifying discharge characteristics and on getting stable plasmaproduction and operation modes, by using a 500 kW slot antenna system at a fixed RF frequency of 3.5MHz and varying discharge conditions such as fueling rate, RF power, and B-field intensity incentral cell. Two distinct operation modes are found to be very sensitive to the RF power as well asthe ratio of the RF frequency to the ion cyclotron frequency. A MHD interchange mode of m = - 1 isclearly observed and the stabilizing mechanism can be explained by the sideband coupling theory.

Objective To investigate the clinical outcomes of an invasive strategy for elderly (aged≥75 years) patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) complicated by cardiogenic shock (CS). Methods Data on 366 of 409 elderly CS patients from a total of 6,132 acute STEMI cases enrolled in the Korea Acute Myocardial Infarction Registry between January 2008 and June 2011, were collected and analyzed. In-hospital deaths and the 1-month and 1-year survival rates free from major adverse cardiac events (MACE;defined as all cause death, myocardial infarction, and target vessel revascularization) were reported for the patients who had undergone invasive (n=310) and conservative (n=56) treatment strategies. Results The baseline clinical characteristics were not significantly different between the two groups. There were fewer in-hospital deaths in the invasive treatment strategy group (23.5%vs. 46.4%, P<0.001). In addition, the 1-year MACE-free survival rate after invasive treatment was significantly lower compared with the conservative treatment (51%vs. 66%, P=0.001). Conclusions In elderly patients with acute STEMI complicated by CS, the outcomes of invasive strategy are similar to those in younger patients at the 1-year follow-up.

为测试循环废气对燃油耗率、NOx和碳烟排放的影响,在一台8缸4冲程直喷式水冷船用柴油机上对不同的负荷和转速进行了试验。不管试验工况如何,试验中燃油喷射正时固定为上止点前38℃A。进气氧气浓度通过进气空气流量和废气再循环中的氧气浓度测定,废气氧气浓度在排气歧管上测定。由进气氧气与燃油耗率的比值计算的平均当量比,被用来分析评价废气再循环率（EGR）对NOx和碳烟排放的影响。结果发现比油耗受废气再循环率的影响较小,由于进气和排气氧气浓度下降以及当废气再循环率增大时当量比增大,NOx排放明显降低,而在某一给定负荷和转速下,特别是较高负荷时,碳烟排放随着EGR率的增大而加剧。基于NOx和碳烟排放这种关联关系,在不增加比油耗的条件下,在韩国重载柴油机排放标准范围内,不同的柴油机工况的最佳EGR率可以粗略估计。

Improved geometrical accuracy and better surface finish of worms are required, especially in automobile industry. To meet this requirement, whirling process has been used in the manufacture of worm. Whirling process is a cutting process in which a series of cutting edges on the whirling ring remove material by turning over the rotating workpiece. In this study, cutting characteristics of the worm in whirling process has been analyzed. The undeformed chip models of front and side cutting edges were established. Using the undeformed chip models and DEFORM software, cutting force analyses are carried out. The calculated cutting force imposed on the tool is nearly the same as the sum of the forces calculated which are separately imposed on the front and side cutting edges.

研究目的：本次研究旨在比较加工方法及组成不同的双磷酸钙（biphasic calcium phosphates,BCP）的骨引导的能力和骨愈合的模式。材料和方法：10只雄性新西兰白兔，每只兔子颅顶有4个8mm环形缺损．每个缺损代表一个组别：对照组．实验组：BCP1．70％HA（羟基磷灰石）．30％β-TCP（β-三磷酸钙）：BCP2，30％HA，70％p-TCP；BCP3，20％HA．80％D-TCP。兔子在第2周（n=5）或第8周（n=5）在处死后进行组织学及组织计量学分析。结果：在双磷酸钙（BCP）组的骨增量远大于对照组（P〈005）。第2周或第8周新骨形成量无明显差异。在第2周，BCP3组的双磷酸钙的吸收作用远大于BCP1和BCP2组．然而在第8周．BCP2和BCP3的这种差别变得不明显。BCP组问新骨形成的模式和材料的吸收有明显差异。在BCP1组中．新骨在剩余颗粒中呈线性排列，在BCP2组中，可观察到丝状伪足状新骨形成;在BCP3组中．可见分散在剩余颗粒中的胶原蛋白片段及颗粒表面的裂隙状不规则新骨形成。结论：在本研究中．特定的HA、β-TCP比例对新骨形成和空间的保持无明显影响。而组间观察到的骨愈合模式的差别可归因于加工方法不同所导致的双磷酸钙（BCPs）的物理化学属性的差异。

Demand for ammonia continues to increase to sustain the growing global *** direct electrochemical N2 reduction reaction(NRR)powered by renewable electricity offers a promising carbon-neutral and sustainable strategy for manufacturing NH3,yet achieving this remains a grand ***,we report a synergistic strategy to promote ambient NRR for ammonia production by tuning the Te vacancies(VTe)and surface hydrophobicity of two-dimensional TaTe_(2)*** NH3 faradic efficiency of up to 32.2%is attained at a mild overpotential,which is largely maintained even after 100 h of consecutive *** labeling validates that the N atoms of formed NH4+originate from *** situ X-ray diffraction indicates preservation of the crystalline structure of TaTe_(2)during *** density functional theory calculations reveal that the potential-determining step(PDS)is*NH_(2)+(H^(+)+e^(-))/NH3 on VTe-TaTe_(2)compared with that of*+N2+(H^(+)+e^(-))/*N-NH on TaTe_(2).We identify that the edge plane of TaTe_(2)and VTe serve as the main active sites for *** free energy change at PDS on VTe-TaTe_(2)is comparable with the values at the top of the NRR volcano plots on various transition metal surfaces.

Background Danshen （Radix Salvia miltiorrhizae） has been used as a traditional medicine in Asia for treatment of various microcirculatory disturbance related diseases. Tanshinones are mainly hydrophobic active components, which have been isolated from Danshen and show various biological functions. In this study, we observed the neuroprotective effect of tanshinone I （Tsl） against ischemic damage in the gerbil hippocampal CA1 region （CA1） after transient cerebral ischemia and examined its neuroprotective mechanism. Methods The gerbils were divided into vehicle-treated-sham-group, vehicle-treated-ischemia-group, Tsl-treated-sham- group, and Tsl-treated-ischemia-group. Tsl was administrated intraperitoneally three times （once a day for three days） before ischemia-reperfusion. The neuroprotective affect of Tsl was examined using H＆E staining, neuronal nuclei （NeuN） immunohistochemistry and Fluoro-Jade B staining. To investigate the neuroprotective mechanism of Tsl after ischemia- reperfusion, immunohistochemical （IHC） and Western blotting analyses for Cu, Zn-superoxide dismutase （SOD1）, Mn- superoxide dismutase （SOD2）, brain-derived neurotrophic factor （BDNF） and insulin-like growth factor-I （IGF-I） were *** Treatment with Tsl protected pyramidal neurons from ischemia-induced neuronal death in the CA1 after ischemia-reperfusion. In addition, treatment with Tsl maintained the levels of SOD1 and SOD2 as determined by IHC and Western blotting in the CA1 after ischemia- reperfusion compared with the vehicle-ischemia-group. In addition, treatment with Tsl increased the levels of BDNF and IGF-I determined by IHC and Westem blotting in the Tsl-treated-sham-group compared with the vehicle-treated- sham-group, and their levels were maintained in the stratum pyramidale of the ischemic CA1 in the Tsl-treated- ischemia-group.
