Dose modest alcohol consumption(MAC)help the health care?There is a mainstream that MAC may not aggravate or even reduce cardiovascular disease and all-cause mortality(1,2).Light(≤3 drink/week)or moderate(>3 to≤14 drinks/week for men or>3 to≤7 drinks/week for women)alcohol consumption were reducing risk of mortality for all causes and cardiovascular disease(2).In 2018,combined analysis of 599,912 current drinkers in 83 prospective studies of high income countries,showed alcohol consumption was positive and curvilinear association with all-cause mortality and roughly linearly associated with a cardiovascular disease other than myocardial infarction(1).They recommend the threshold for lowest risk of all-cause mortality was 100 g/week.

The removal of As（III） and As（V） from aqueous solution was investigated using waste cast iron, which is a byproduct of the iron casting process in foundries. Two types of waste cast iron were used in the experiment： grind precipitate dust （GPD） and cast iron shot （CIS）. The X-ray diffraction analysis indicated the presence of Fe~ on GPD and CIS. Batch experiments were performed under different concentrations of As（III） and As（V） and at various initial pH levels. Results showed that waste cast iron was effective in the removal of arsenic. The adsorption isotherm study indicated that the Langmuir isotherm was better than the Freundlich isotherm at describing the experimental result. In the adsorption of both As（III） and As（V）, the adsorption capacity of GPD was greater than CIS, mainly due to the fact that GPD had higher surface area and weight percent of Fe than CIS. Results also indicated the removal of As（III） and As（V） by GPD and CIS was influenced by the initial solution pH, generally decreasing with increasing pH from 3.0 to 10.5. In addition, both GPD and CIS were more effective at the removal of As（III） than As（V） under given experimental conditions. This study demonstrates that waste cast iron has potential as a reactive material to treat wastewater and groundwater containing arsenic.

Minimally invasive surgery(MIS)has significantly progressed and emerged as the preferred approach for various gastrointestinal procedures,including gastrectomy,cholecystectomy,and various colorectal surgeries(1).However,the widespread acceptance of robotic surgery in liver resection has encountered obstacles,attributed to factors such as the lack of appropriate surgical instruments,the intricate learning curve,and safety ***,the utilization of MIS in liver resection is linked to decreased blood loss,reduced post-operative pain,shorter hospital stays,and lower morbidity rates compared to both open and laparoscopic liver resection procedures(2).

BACKGROUND Clostridioides difficile(***)colitis is one of the most common infections in hospitalized patients,characterized by fever and *** usually improves after appropriate antibiotic treatment;if not,comorbidities should be ***(CMV)colitis is a possible co-existing diagnosis in patients with *** infection with poor treatment ***,compared with immunocompromised patients,CMV colitis in immunocompetent patients is not well *** SUMMARY We present an unusual case of co-existing CMV colitis in an immunocompetent patient with *** *** 80-year-old female patient was referred to the infectious disease department due to diarrhea,abdominal discomfort,and fever for 1 wk during her hospitalization for *** toxin B polymerase chain reaction on stool samples was *** *** infection was diagnosed,oral vancomycin treatment was *** symptoms including diarrhea,fever and abdominal discomfort improved for ten ***,the symptoms worsened again with bloody diarrhea and ***,a sigmoidoscopy was performed for evaluation,showing a longitudinal ulcer on the sigmoid *** biopsy confirmed CMV colitis,and the clinical symptoms improved after using *** Co-existing CMV colitis should be considered in patients with aggravated *** infection on appropriate treatment,even in immunocompetent hosts.

The contribution of chemical compositions in terms of carbon equivalent value（CEV） on impending crack propagation during weld bead bend tests（WBBTs） was studied with five different high-strength lowalloy steel plates that underwent different rolling processes. The test showed that cracks developed at the weld joint, easily passed through the coarse-grain heat-affected zone（CGHAZ）, and finally were arrested within the heat-affected zone（HAZ）. An apparent decrease in the average crack length, which consequently indicated improvement in crack arrestability, was found with decreasing CEV. In addition,the relatively fine microstructure in the HAZ of low-CEV steel plates helped in preventing the crack from further propagation. Special emphasis was placed on the empirical expectation of critical CEV above which WBBT might fail.

The insistent demand for space-controllable delivery,which reduces the side effects of non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs(NSAIDs),has led to the development of a new theranostics-based approach for anti-inflammatory *** current anti-inflammatory treatments can be improved by designing a drug delivery system responsive to the inflammatory site biomarker,hydrogen polysulfide(H_(2)S_(n)).Here,we report a noveltheranostic agent 1(TA1),consisting of three parts:H_(2)S_(n)-mediated triggering part,a two-photon fluorophore bearing mitochondria targeting unit(Rhodol-TPP),and anti-inflammatory COX inhibitor(indomethacin).In vitro experiments showed that TA1 selectively reacts with H_(2)S_(n)to concomitantly release both Rhodol-TPP and ***-microscopy imaging of inflammation-inducedlive cells suggested that TA1 is localized in the mitochondria where the H_(2)S_(n)is *** TA1 reacted with H_(2)S_(n)in the endogenous and exogenous H_(2)S_(n)environments and in lipopolysaccharide treated inflammatory ***,TA1 suppressed COX-2 level in the inflammatory-induced cells and prostaglandin E 2(PGE2)level in blood serum from inflammation-induced mouse *** vivo experiments with inflammation-induced mouse models suggested that TA1 exhibits inflammation-site-elective drug release followed by significant therapeutic e ects,showing its function as a theranostic agent,capable of both anti-inflammatory therapy and precise *** behavior of TA1 is highly applicable in vivo model therapeutics for the inflammatory disease.

BACKGROUND Several vaccines against the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 have been approved and widely distributed,raising public concerns regarding the side effects of immunization,as the incidence of *** many adverse events following the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)vaccine have been reported,neurological complications are relatively ***,we report a rare case of multiple cranial palsies following COVID-19 vaccination in an adolescent *** SUMMARY A previously healthy,14-year-old Asian girl with facial palsy presented to the emergency department with inability to close the right eye or wrinkle right side of the forehead,and pain in the right *** had received second dose of the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine(Pfizer-BioNTech)18 days before onset of *** was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy and prescribed a steroid(1 mg/kg/day methylprednisolone)based on symptoms and magnetic resonance imaging ***,the next day,all sense of taste was lost with inability to swallow solid food;the gag reflex was *** diplopia was also *** to worsening of her condition,she was given high-dose steroids(1g/day methylprednisolone)for 3 days and then discharged with oral *** in the symptoms was noted 4 days post steroid treatment *** the most recent follow-up,her general condition was good with no symptoms except diplopia;ocular motility disturbances were ***,prism glasses were prescribed for diplopia *** Small-angle exotropia was observed in the facial,trigeminal,and glossopharyngeal nerve palsies,in our *** etiology of this adverse effect following vaccination was thought to be immunological.

Microstructure and texture of Ti-Nb-Si based alloys, prepared by water quenching from β-phase field, cold rolling and recrystallization heat treatment followed by water quenching, were investigated in terms of optical microstructure and analysis of X-ray pole figure result. In as-quenched sample, relatively random distribution of pole figure was detected without showing a specific texture component. In as-cold rolled sample, however, it is found well-developed several texture components consisting of rotated cube, α-fiber and γ-fiber texture components which are frequently observed in bcc-structured metals and alloys were found. Therefore, texture components developed in the present alloys are closely related to the deformation of β-phase even though small amount of α″ phase co-exist in the microstructure. In recrystallized sample, α-fiber texture component is weakly detected while the other texture components, rotated cube and γ-fiber components, appears to be relatively unchanged. No additional texture components were detected besides those texture components observed in the cold rolled samples.
