AIM： To investigate the incidence of clinically detected port-site metastasis （PSM） in patients who underwent robotic surgery for biliary malignancies. METHODS： Using a prospective database, the patients undergoing fully robotic surgery for biliary malignan- cies between January 2009 and January 2011 were in- cluded. Records of patients with confirmed malignancy were reviewed for clinicopathological data and informa- tion about PSM. RESULTS： Sixty-four patients with biliary tract cancers underwent robotic surgery, and sixty patients met the inclusion criteria. The median age was 67 year （range： 40-85 year）. During a median 15-mo follow-up period, two female patients were detected solitary PSM after robotic surgery. The incidence of PSM was 3.3%. Pa- tient 1 underwent robotic anatomatic left hemihepa- tectomy and extraction of biliary tumor thrombi for an Klatskin tumor. She had a subcutaneous mass located at the right lateral abdominal wall near a trocar scar. Patient 2 underwent robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy for distal biliary cancer. She had two metachronous subcutaneous mass situated at the right lateral abdomi- nal wall under a same trocar scar at 7 and 26 mo. The pathology of the excised PSM masses confirmed meta- static biliary adenocarcinoma. CONCLUSION： The incidence of PSIVls after robotic surgery for biliary malignancies is relatively low, and biliary cancer can be an indication of robotic surgery.

Identification and evolution-ary implication of four novel box H/ACA snoRNAs from Giardia lamblia

From a specialized cDNA library, four novel box H/ACA snoRNAs, named GLsR22, GLsR23, GLsR24 and GLsR25, were identified from the primitive eukaryote, Giardia lamblia. Bioinformat- ics analyses indicated that all of them can be poten- tially folded into double hairpins, the typical secon- dary structures of box H/ACA snoRNAs. GLsR24 and GLsR25 are predicted to guide the site-specific pseudouridylation at U1753 and U2396 on 23S rRNA, respectively, while GLsR22 and GLsR23 belong to the family of “orphan” snoRNAs. All of the four novel snoRNAs are encoded by single copy genes and located in small intergenic regions. Interestingly, compared with the counterparts previously reported in Archaea and other unicellular protozoan, the box H/ACA snoRNAs identified from G. lamblia have unique structural features, implying that snoRNAs evolved from prokaryotes to eukaryotes in different ways.

Sensing Matrix Optimization for Random Stepped-Frequency Signal Based on Two-Dimensional Ambiguity Function

Compressive sensing technique has been widely applied to achieve range-Doppler reconstruction of high frequency radar by utilizing sparse random stepped-frequency(SRSF) signal, which can suppress the complex electromagnetic interference and greatly reduce the coherent processing interval. An important way to improve the performance of sparse signal reconstruction is to optimize the sensing matrix(SM). However, the existing research on the SM optimization needs to design a measurement matrix with superior performance, which needs a large amount of computation and does not consider the influence of the waveform parameters design. In order to improve the superior reconstruction performance, a novel SM optimization approach for SRSF signal is proposed by using two-dimensional ambiguity function(TDAF) in this paper. Firstly, based on the two-dimensional sparse reconstruction model of the SRSFs, the internal relationship between the waveform parameters and the SM was derived. Secondly, the SM optimization problem was directly transformed into the waveform design of SRSFs. Furthermore, on the basis of analyzing the relationship between the mutual coherence matrix of SM and the TDAF matrix of SRSFs, the purpose of optimizing the SM can be achieved by designing the TDAF of the SRSFs. Based on this analysis, a sparse waveform optimization method with joint constraints of maximum and mean sidelobes of the TDAF by using the genetic algorithm was derived. Compared with the traditional SM optimization method, our method not only avoids generating a new measurement matrix, but also further reduces the complexity of the waveform optimization. Simulation experiments verified the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Despite notable progress in thermoelectric(TE)materials and devices,developing TE aerogels with high-temperature resistance,superior TE performance and excellent elasticity to enable self-powered high-temperature monitoring/warning in industrial and wearable applications remains a great ***,a highly elastic,flame-retardant and high-temperature-resistant TE aerogel,made of poly(3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate)/single-walled carbon nanotube(PEDOT:PSS/SWCNT)composites,has been fabricated,displaying attractive compression-induced power factor *** as-fabricated sensors with the aerogel can achieve accurately pressure stimuli detection and wide temperature range ***,a flexible TE generator is assembled,consisting of 25 aerogels connected in series,capable of delivering a maximum output power of 400μW when subjected to a temperature difference of 300 *** demonstrates its outstanding high-temperature heat harvesting capability and promising application prospects for real-time temperature monitoring on industrial high-temperature ***,the designed self-powered wearable sensing glove can realize precise wide-range temperature detection,high-temperature warning and accurate recognition of human hand *** aerogel-based intelligent wearable sensing system developed for firefighters demonstrates the desired self-powered and highly sensitive high-temperature fire warning *** from these desirable properties,the elastic and high-temperature-resistant aerogels present various promising applications including self-powered high-temperature monitoring,industrial overheat warning,waste heat energy recycling and even wearable healthcare.

Fluorescence imaging in the second near-infrared window(NIR-II,900–1880 nm)with less scattering background in biological tissues has been combined with the confocal microscopic system for achieving deep in vivo imaging with high spatial ***,the traditional NIR-IIfluorescence confocal microscope with separate excitation focus and detection pinhole makes it possess low confocal e±ciency,as well as di±cultly to *** types of upgraded NIR-IIfluorescence confocal microscopes,sharing the same pinhole by excitation and emission focus,leading to higher confocal e±ciency,are built in this *** type is-ber-pinhole-based confocal microscope applicable to CW laser *** is constructed forfluorescence intensity imaging with large depth,high stabilization and low cost,which could replace multiphotonfluorescence microscopy in some applications(e.g.,cerebrovascular and hepatocellular imaging).The other type is air-pinhole-based confocal microscope applicable to femtosecond(fs)laser *** can be employed not only for NIR-IIfluorescence intensity imaging,but also for multi-channelfluorescence lifetime imaging to recognize different structures with similarfluorescence ***,it can be facilely combined with multiphotonfluorescence microscopy.A single fs pulsed laser is utilized to achieve up-conversion(visible multiphotonfluorescence)and down-conversion(NIR-II one-photonfluorescence)excitation simultaneously,extending imaging spectral channels,and thus facilitates multi-structure and multi-functional observation.

Throughout tumorigenesis, the co-evolution of tumor cells and their surrounding microenvironment leads to the development of malignant phenotypes. Cellular communication within the tumor microenvironment(TME) plays a critical role in influencing various aspects of tumor progression, including invasion and metastasis. The release of exosomes, a type of extracellular vesicle, by most cell types in the body, is an essential mediator of intercellular communication. A growing body of research indicates that tumor-derived exosomes(TDEs) significantly expedite tumor progression through multiple mechanisms, inducing epithelial-mesenchymal transition and macrophage polarization, enhancing angiogenesis, and aiding in the immune evasion of tumor cells. Herein, we describe the formation and characteristics of the TME, and summarize the contents of TDEs and their diverse functions in modulating tumor development. Furthermore, we explore potential applications of TDEs in tumor diagnosis and treatment.

Efficient generation of spin polarization is very important for spintronics and quantum computation. In chiral materials without magnetic order nor spin-orbit coupling, we find a new spin selectivity effect—chiral phonon activated spin Seebeck(CPASS)effect. Starting with the nonequilibrium distribution of chiral phonons under a temperature gradient, the CPASS coefficients are computed based on the Boltzmann transport theory. With both the phonon-drag and band transport contributions, the spin accumulations generated by the CPASS effect exhibit quadratic dependence on the temperature gradient. The strength of the CPASS effect and the relative magnitude of both contributions are tunable by the chemical potential modulation. The CPASS effect, which gives a promising explanation on the traditional chiral-induced spin selectivity effect, provides opportunities for the exploration of advanced spintronic devices based on chiral materials even in the absence of any magnetic order and spin-orbit coupling.

The distribution of inclusions at the bottom of a Ce-treated heavy steel ingot was detected and *** three-dimensional morphology and spatial distribution of CeAlOs clusters were characterized using the electrolytic extraction and Micro-CT detection.A model of inclusion collision to predict the aggregation of CeAlO_(3) inclusions in the ingot was established and validated by measured *** were mainly CeAlO_(3) and a small amount of Ce_(2)O_(2)S in the tundish after cerium *** collision and aggregation of inclusions led to the formation of large clusters in the ingot during the solidification *** slag entrainment inclusions,large CeAO_(3) clusters and small CeAlO_(3) particles were observed from the center to the edge of the ingot *** inclusions were mainly concentrated at the *** number density of inclusions larger than 200μm was 0.21 mm^(-3).The maximum diameter of CeA1O_(3) clusters was 1340μ*** the edge to the radial center and from the bottom to the top,the average diameter of inclusions gradually increased due to the longer solidification time of the ingot.
