Structure and properties of SEBS/PP/OMMT nanocomposites

Nanocomposites based on styrene-b-(ethylene-co-butylenes)-b-styrene triblock copolymer(SEBS), polypropylene (PP) and organomontmorillonite (OMMT) were prepared using melt intercalation by a twin mill. The nanostructure of SEBS/PP/OMMT hybrids was characterized by X-ray diffractometry(XRD) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM). The d001 space of OMMT and SEBS/PP/OMMT hybrid increases from 1.30 nm to 3.52 nm and 4.06 nm, respectively which indicate, that the C16 and SEBS/PP could intercalate in the silicate layers and expand the basal spacing. The formation of intercalated structure was also confirmed by TEM. The results show that the individual silicates are well dispersed in the elastomer matrix. The glass transition temperature (tg) of PS block of SEBS was investigated by dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). It is shown that there are remarkable enhancements in tg of PS block containing a small mass fraction of OMMT. tg of PS in SEBS of the nanocomposites has been increased about 39℃when containing 4% OMMT. The influence of OMMT on the dynamic storage moduli is temperature dependent. Below 50℃the SEBS/PP/OMMT composites with higher OMMT contents show higher dynamic storage moduli. OMMT has the function of reinforcing SEBS/PP elastomers. However, the influence of OMMT on the mechanical properties of the nanocomposites is not significant according to the tensile test and tear test.

A novel piezoelectricity based nano energy conversion device using vertically aligned ZnO nanowires/PVVH matrix as the working unit is proposed. Thermal energy is converted to electricity via the interaction of the PVVH polymer and ZnO nanowires. The thermal properties of PVVH ave studied using Raman spectroscopy under different temperatures. The results show that the structure of PVVH is sensitive to fluctuations of the environmental temperatures. With the increasing temperature, PVVH tends to be crystallized and stress can be developed inside the polymer. The stress is responsible for the deformation and voltage generation of the ZnO nanowires.

Hierarchical FeP nanoarray films composed of FeP nanopetals were successfully synthesized via a bio-inspired hydrothermal route followed by phosphorization. Glycerol as a crystal growth modifier, plays a significant role in controlling the morphology and structure of the FeO（OH） precursor during the biomineralization process, while the following transfer and pseudomorphic transformation of the FeO（OH） film successfully give rise to the FeP array film. The as-prepared FeP film electrodes exhibit excellent hydrogen evolution reaction （heR） performance over a wide pH range. Theoretical calculations reveal that the mixed P/Fe termination in the FeP film is responsible for the high catalytic activity of the nanostructured electrodes. This new insight will promote further explorations of efficient metal phosphoride-based catalysts for the heR. More importantly, this study bridges the gap between biological and inorganic self-assembling nanosystems and may open up a new avenue for the preparation of functional nanostructures with application in energy devices.

A cross-sectional survey on the prevalence of anxiety symptoms in Chinese patients with premature ventricular contractions without structural heart disease

Background Anxiety appears to be more common in patients with coronary artery disease （CHD） than in the general population, and anxiety symptoms may precede onset of CHD and play an important role in development of CHD. Little is known about the prevalence of anxiety symptoms in Chinese patients with premature ventricular contractions （PVCs）. Our objective was to study anxiety symptoms and potential risk factors in a Chinese population with PVCs but without structural heart disease. Methods The Zung self-rating anxiety scale （ZSAS） was used to assess anxiety symptoms. Correlation between anxiety symptoms and socio-demographics and medical factors were analyzed by Logistic regression. Results Of 1144 patients with PVCs （487 males and 657 females）, age （53＋23） years old, disease duration 1 month to 24 years, a total of 381 （33.3%） patients were categorized as having anxiety symptoms. Anxiety symptoms increased with age, low income, low education level, nationality, PVC count/24 hours, bad social support, village settlement type （P 〈0.05）. Multivariate Logistic regression indicated that six variablesmeducation level, ethnic minorities, dwelling place, age, PVC count/24 hours, and social support--significantly and independently related with anxiety symptoms （P 〈0.05）. Conclusions In the Chinese population, anxiety symptoms in subjects with PVCs were frequent. Education level, ethnic minorities, dwelling place, age, PVC count/24 hours, and social support were independent risk factors for anxiety symptoms. Further research on the relationship between PVCs and anxiety symptoms in China is necessary.

AIM： To explore the regularity of multi-meridians controlling a same viscus （MMCSV）. METHODS： The rabbit gastric ulcer model was established by ethanol intragastric instillation. Fifty-six rabbits were randomly divided into normal group, model group （MG）, model plus acupuncture at Foot yangming Meridian group （YMG）, model plus acupuncture at Foot Taiyin Meridian group （TYG）, model plus acupuncture at Foot Shaoyang Meridian group （SYG）, model plus acupuncture at Foot Jueyin Meridian group （JYG）, model plus acupuncture at Foot Taiyang Meridian group （TYMG）, with eight rabbits in each group. Gastric mucosal nitric oxide （NO） and nitric oxide synthase （NOS） were assayed by the nitric acid reductase method, and prostaglandin E2 （PGE2） and epidermal growth factor （EGF） were measured by radioimmunoassay. The comprehensive effects were analyzed by weighing method. RESULTS： Compared to MG, SYG, JYG and TYMG, the rabbits gastric mucosal injury index （GMII） reduced very significantly in YMG （P〈0.01）. Compared to MG, the GMII also reduced significantly in TYG （P〈0.05）. NO, NOS, PGE2 and EGF increased very significantly in YMG （P〈0.01）. The EGF in YMG also increased significantly than that in TYG compared to those in MG, SYG, JYG and TYMG （P〈0.05）. The PGE2 and EGF also increased very significantly in TYG than those in MG, JYG and TYMG （P〈0.01）. While compared to SYG, the NOS increased significantly in TYG （P〈0.05）. NOS was the highest in YMG （P〈0.01）, and was higher in TYG than in MG （P〈0.01）. CONCLUSION： MMCSV is common. The Foot yangming Meridian is most closely related to the stomach, followed by Foot Taiyin Meridian, Foot Shaoyang Meridian and Foot Jueyin Meridian. Foot Taiyang Meridian has no correlation with the stomach.

Shear-thinning hydrogels have emerged for endoscopic submucosal dissection,while wound intervention after surgery has rarely been ***,a catechol-modified chitosa n hydrogel with shear-thinning property was developed for simultaneously facilitating endoscopic submucosal dissection and postoperative wound *** from the shear-thinning and self-healing characteristics,the asprepared hydrogel showed easily endoscopic *** also performed very well as submucosal cushion,which could remain above 70%after injection for 120 min in ex vivo porcine large intestine *** fact,the cushion height of normal saline dramatically decreased to 46%of the initial height at 30 *** nanoparticles encapsulated into the network endowed the hydrogel with almost reached 100%antibacterial effect against *** and *** hemolysis ratio of the hydrogel was calculated to be as low as 0.8%.Combined with good hemocompatibility and cytocompatibility,the as-prepared hydrogel displayed much higher in vivo wound closu re and healing efficacy than normal *** results demonstrated the superiority of the shear-thinning chitosan hydrogel in facilitating clinical endoscopic submucosal dissection surgery.

Oxidation Resistance of In Situ Reaction/Hot Pressing Synthesized Ti_(2)AlC-20%TiB_(2) Composite at 600-900℃in Air

The oxidation behavior and kinetics of Ti_(2)AlC-20vol.%TiB_(2) composite at 600-900℃ in air were *** results showed that the oxidation kinetics of the composite followed a logarithmic law within the given temperature range,which indicated that the composites had excellent oxidation *** selective oxidation of Al in Ti_(2)AlC was greatly enhanced,which facilitated the formation of a continuous and dense protective layer of Al_(2)O_(3).Meanwhile,the existence of molten B_(2)O_(3) inhibited the outward diffusion of Ti and inward diffusion of oxygen,which prevented the growth of anatase TiO_(2) at 600℃ and rutile TiO_(2) at 700-900℃.Therefore,the incorporation of TiB_(2) completely inhibited the abnormally rapid oxidation of bulk Ti_(2)AlC at 600℃ and improved its oxidation resistance at 700-900℃.
