Analysis of the spanwise vortex of open channel flows based on the Omega-Liutex vortex identification method

In this paper, a particle imaging velocimetry (PIV) system of high-temporal-spatial resolution is used to investigate the spanwise vortex distribution of fully developed turbulent flows in an open channel and its relationship with the turbulence. The distributions of the time-averaged velocity, the turbulence intensity and the Reynolds stress are obtained in the longitudinal profile. The third-generation vortex identification method (based on the Omega-Liutex vector) is applied to accurately identify and analyze the vortex in the spanwise direction. The results suggest that the vortex density increases with the Reynolds number at a given aspect ratio (B / H) of the flow. The distribution trend of the spanwise vortex density in the vertical direction remains unchanged for different discharges. Specifically, the vortex density increases along the vertical direction and reaches the peak at y / H = 0.15, then decreases and reaches the bottoms at the flow surface.

Na1＋xV3O8 nanoribbon thin film was successfully fabricated by annealing the V2O5 xerogel film on sodium sili-cate glass substrate at 450℃. It has been identified that the amount of sodium ions diffused into the V2O5 xerogel film increases with the high temperature of annealing treatment. The sodium glass substrate serves as a limited sodium source to induce the transformation from V2O5 to Na1＋xV3O8.

Using a low power microwave generator(W_(max)=100W) and a Surfatron discharge device, Plasma-polymerized copper phthalocyanine (PPCuPc) film was synthesised from monomer copper phthalocyanine(CuPc) by microwave plasma chemical vaporization deposition(MPCVD) with Ar as incorporation gas. The film was characterized by FTIR and ESCA. The role of dissociation of chemical bond in the polymerization process and the influence of substrate temperature and material on deposition were investigated in some detail.

AIM: To elucidate the expression of the apoptosis-associatedmolecules in human primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)cells, and prepare the monoclonal antibodies (mAb) againstthe apoptosis-associated antigens of HCC ***: Human HCC cell line HCC-9204 cells wereinduced apoptosis with 60 mL.L-1 ethanol for 6 h and theirmorphological changes were observed by transmissionelectron microscope. The cell DNA fragmentations weredetected by Terminal Deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediateddUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) assay, and the cell DNAcontents by flow cytometry. Ten mice were immunized withethanol-induced apoptotic HCC-9204 cells with the methodof subtractive immunization, while the other 10 mice usedas the control were immunized by the routine *** tail blood of all the mice were prepared after the lastimmunization, and the produced antibodies were determinedby the immunocytochemical ABC staining. The splenic cellsof the mice whose tail blood sera-HCC-9204 cells serumreactions were most different between the apoptotic andthe non-apoptotic were prepared and fused with the mousemyeloma cell line SP2/0 cells. The positive antibodies wereselected by ELISA assay. The fusion rates of hybridoma cellsand the producing rates of antibodies were calculated. Thefused cells that secreted candidate objective antibody werecloned continually with the of limited dilution method, andthen selected and analyzed further by theimmunocytochemical ABC staining. The chromosomes of thecloned hybridoma cells that secreted objective mAb and themAb immunoglobulin (Ig) subtype of the prepared mAb werealso determined. The molecular mass of the mAb associatedantigen was analyzed by Western blot ***: HCC-9204 cells treated with 60 mL.L-1 ethanolfor 6 h, manifested obvious apoptotic morphological changes,the majority of the cells were TUNEL-positive, and the sub-G1 apoptotic peak was evident. Fatman： Building Reliable Archival Storage Based on Low-Cost Volunteer Resources

We present Fatman, an enterprise-scale archival storage based on volunteer contribution resources from underutilized web servers, usually deployed on thousands of nodes with spare storage capacity. Fatman is specifically designed for enhancing the utilization of existing storage resources and cutting down the hardware purchase cost. Two major concerned issues of the system design are maximizing the resource utilization of volunteer nodes without violating service level objectives （SLOs） and minimizing the cost without reducing the availability of archival system. Fatman has been widely deployed on tens of thousands of server nodes across several datacenters, providing more than 100 PB storage capacity and serving dozens of internal mass-data applications. The system realizes an efficient storage quota consolidation by strong isolation and budget limitation, to maximally support resource contribution without any degradation on host-level SLOs. It novelly improves data reliability by applying disk failure prediction to minish failure recovery cost, named fault-aware data management, dramatically reduces the mean time to repair （MTTR） by 76.3% and decreases file crash ratio by 35% on real-life product workload.

AIM： To analyze the microbiota shift in the dista esophagus of Sprague-Dawley rats fed a high-fat diet. METHODS： Twenty Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into high-fat diet and normal control groups of 10 rats each. The composition of microbiota in the mucosa from the distal esophagus was analyzed based on se- lective culture. A variety of Lactobacillus species were identified by molecular biological techniques. Bacterial DNA from Lactobacillus colonies was extracted, and 165 rDNA was amplified by PCR using bacterial uni- versal primers. The amplified 16S rDNA products were separated by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis （DGGE）. Every single band was purified from the gel and sent to be sequenced. RESULTS： Based on mucosal bacterial culturing in the distal esophagus, Staphylococcus aureus was absent, and total anaerobes and Lactobacillus species were de- creased significantly in the high-fat diet group compared with the normal control group （P 〈 0.01）. Detailed DGGE analysis on the composition of Lactobacillus species in the distal esophagus revealed that Lactobacillus crispa- tus, Lactobacillus gasseri （L. gasser/] and Lactobacillus reuteri （L. reuterl] comprised the Lactobacillus species in the high-fat diet group, while the composition of Lactobacillus species in the normal control group consisted of L. gasseri, Lactobacillus jensenii and L. reuteri. CONCLUSION： High-fat diet led to a mucosal micro- flora shift in the distal esophagus in rats, especially the composition of Lactobacillus species.

Nomograms for predicting the risk of prostate cancer developed using other populations may introduce sizable bias when applied to a Chinese cohort. In the present study, we sought to develop a nomogram for predicting the probability of a positive initial prostate biopsy in a Chinese population. A total of 535 Chinese men who underwent a prostatic biopsy for the detection of prostate cancer in the past decade with complete biopsy data were included. Stepwise logistic regression was used to determine the independent predictors of a positive initial biopsy. Age, prostate-specific antigen （PSA）, prostate volume （PV）, digital rectal examination （DRE） status, % free PSA and transrectal ultrasound （TRUS） findings were included in the analysis. A nomogram model was developed that was based on these independent predictors to calculate the probability of a positive initial prostate biopsy. A receiver-operating characteristic curve was used to assess the accuracy of using the nomogram and PSA levels alone for predicting positive prostate biopsy. The rate for positive initial prostate biopsy was 41.7% （223/535）. The independent variables used to predict a positive initial prostate biopsy were age, PSA, PV and DRE status. The areas under the receiver-operating characteristic curve for a positive initial prostate biopsy for PSA alone and the nomogram were 79.7% and 84.8%, respectively. Our results indicate that the risk of a positive initial prostate biopsy can be predicted to a satisfactory level in a Chinese population using our nomogram. The nomogram can be used to identify and counsel patients who should consider a prostate biopsy, ultimately enhancing accuracy in diagnosing prostate cancer.

The phenomenon of induced transparency,characterized by a high quality(Q)factor,holds significant importance in the fields of high-precision sensing,energy storage and wave *** transparency systems are often constrained by the limited experimentally accessible parameter space and the lack of independent control over intrinsic parameters,thereby hindering advanced research on high-Q *** we propose a virtualized coupled-oscillator system that enables reconfigurable induced transparency in the reflection *** virtually incorporating a pair of coupled oscillators into an individual acoustic meta-atom,we achieve the manipulation of induced transparency in a decoupled,wide-ranging,and elaborate *** the diverse evolutions across the intrinsic parameter space,we show experimentally a counter-intuitive increase in the Q-factor of the transparency window,which is attributed to the enhanced dissipation of the bright ***,a constant group delay at the center frequency is observed accompanying this *** work demonstrates an intriguing platform as well as a novel strategy to engineer high-Q induced transparency phenomenon,and paves the way towards applications in programmable acoustic sensors,filters and slow-wave devices.
