Data-driven short circuit resistance estimation in battery safety issues

Developing precise and fast methods for short circuit detection is crucial for preventing or mitigating the risk of safety issues of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).In this paper,we developed a Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN)based model that can quickly and precisely predict the short circuit resistance of LIB cells during various working conditions.Cycling tests of cells with an external short circuit(ESC)are produced to obtain the database and generate the training/testing samples.The samples are sequences of voltage,current,charging capacity,charging energy,total charging capacity,total charging energy with a length of 120 s and frequency of 1 Hz,and their corresponding short circuit resistances.A big database with~6×10^(5)samples are generated,covering various short circuit resistances(47~470Ω),current loading modes(Constant current-constant voltage(CC-CV)and drive cycle),and electrochemical states(cycle numbers from 1 to 300).Results show that the average relative absolute error of five random sample splits is 6.75%±2.8%.Further parametric analysis indicates the accuracy estimation benefits from the appropriate model setups:the optimized input sequence length(~120 s),feature selection(at least one total capacity-related variable),and rational model design,using multiple layers with different kernel sizes.This work highlights the capabilities of machine learning algorithms and data-driven methodologies in real-time safety risk prediction for batteries.

Gastric cancer(GC)is one of the most common malignant tumors worldwide.Its incidence ranks the 5th among all malignant tumors globally,and it is the 3rd leading cause of death among patients with cancer.Surgical treatment is the first choice in clinical practice.However,targeted therapy,immunotherapy,and other treatment methods have also become research hotspots at home and abroad with the development of individualized precision therapy in recent years,besides traditional radiotherapy and chemotherapy.At present,targeted therapy and immunotherapy are methods used for treating GC,and they have important clinical application value and prospects.This study aimed to review the research progress of targeted therapy and immunotherapy for GC,focusing on its mechanism of action and related important clinical trials,hoping to provide references for the clinical treatment of GC.

Organoids:approaches and utility in cancer research

Organoids are three-dimensional cellular structures with self-organizing and self-differentiation capacities.They faithfully recapitulate structures and functions of in vivo organs as represented by functionality and microstructural definitions.Heterogeneity in in vitro disease modeling is one of the main reasons for anti-cancer therapy failures.Establishing a powerful model to represent tumor heterogeneity is crucial for elucidating tumor biology and developing effective therapeutic strategies.Tumor organoids can retain the original tumor heterogeneity and are commonly used to mimic the cancer microenvironment when co-cultured with fibroblasts and immune cells;therefore,considerable effort has been made recently to promote the use of this new technology from basic research to clinical studies in tumors.In combination with gene editing technology and microfluidic chip systems,engineered tumor organoids show promising abilities to recapitulate tumorigenesis and metastasis.In many studies,the responses of tumor organoids to various drugs have shown a positive correlation with patient responses.Owing to these consistent responses and personalized characteristics with patient data,tumor organoids show excellent potential for preclinical research.Here,we summarize the properties of different tumor models and review their current state and progress in tumor organoids.We further discuss the substantial challenges and prospects in the rapidly developing tumor organoid field.

Recent advances in solid-state NMR of zeolite catalysts

Zeolites are important inorganic crystalline microporous materials with a broad range of applications in the areas of catalysis, ion exchange, and adsorption/separations. Solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) spectroscopy has proven to be a powerful tool in the study of zeolites and relevant catalytic reactions because of its advantage in providing atomic-level insights into molecular structure and dynamic behavior. In this review, we provide a brief discussion on the recent progress in exploring framework structures, catalytically active sites and intermolecular interactions in zeolites and metal-containing ones by using various solid-state NMR methods. Advances in the mechanistic understanding of zeolite-catalysed reactions including methanol and ethanol conversions are presented as selected examples. Finally, we discuss the prospect of the solid-state NMR technique for its application in zeolites.

Bayesian Inference of Nucleus Resonance and Neutron Skin

In this proceeding,some highlight results on the constraints of the nuclear matter equation of state(EOS)from the data of nucleus resonance and neutron-skin thickness using the Bayesian approach based on the Skyrme-Hartree-Fock model and its extension have been presented.Typically,the anti-correlation and positive correlations between the slope parameter and the value of the symmetry energy at the saturation density under the constraint of the neutron-skin thickness and the isovector giant dipole resonance have been discussed respectively.It’s shown that the Bayesian analysis can help to find a compromise for the“PREXII puzzle”and the“soft Tin puzzle”.The possible modifications on the constraints of lower-order EOS parameters as well as the relevant correlation when higher-order EOS parameters are incorporated as independent variables have been further illustrated.For a given model and parameter space,the Bayesian approach serves as a good analysis tool suitable for multi-messengers versus multi-variables,and is helpful for constraining quantitatively the model parameters as well as their correlations.

For decades,chiral nanomaterials have been extensively studied because of their extraordinary properties.Chiral nanostructures have attracted a lot of interest because of their potential applications including biosensing,asymmetric catalysis,optical devices,and negative index materials.Circularly polarized light(CPL)is the most attractive source for chirality owing to its high availability,and now it has been used as a chiral source for the preparation of chiral matter.In this review,the recent progress in the field of CPL-enabled chiral nanomaterials is summarized.Firstly,the recent advancements in the fabrication of chiral materials using circularly polarized light are described,focusing on the unique strategies.Secondly,an overview of the potential applications of chiral nanomaterials driven by CPL is provided,with a particular emphasis on biosensing,catalysis,and phototherapy.Finally,a perspective on the challenges in the field of CPL-enabled chiral nanomaterials is given.

An electrochemically promoted decarboxylative borylation reaction is reported. The reaction proceeds under mild conditions in an undivided cell without use of transition metal-or photo-catalysts. The key feature of the reaction is the compatibility of diboron reagents with the electrochemical conditions. This reaction exhibits broad substrate scope, good functional group tolerability, and easy scalability.

With the development of new experimental techniques(e.g.,single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq),light sheet microscopy,and clustered regularly interspaced palindromic repeats(CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 9(Cas9),emerging studies have begun to uncover the interactions between the nervous system and the immune system,both in health and diseases.For example,in mucosal tissues such as the lung and the intestine,neurotransmitters including acetylcholine[1]and adrenaline[2]can directly regulate the immune cell functions thus affect the results of allergy,asthma,and anti-pathogen host defense[3].

Impacts of species depletion on the food web structure of a marine ecosystem based on topological network analysis

Single-species management ignores the interactions between species,and ecosystem-based fisheries management(EBFM)has become a main method to fisheries management.Understanding food web structures and species interactions is essential for the implementation of EBFM and maintenance of ecosystem functions.Overfishing is one of the main reasons behind the depletion,which could even lead to the depletion of some target species in local areas.So understanding the impacts of species depletion on food web structures is important for the implementation of EBFM.The impacts of species depletion can be transmitted through the food web and cause the local extinction of both target and non-target species.In this study,topological network analysis was applied to examine the impacts of species depletion on the food web structure of Haizhou Bay.Results showed that fine crayfish Leptochela gracilis,squid Loligo sp.,and Japanese snapping shrimp Alpheus japonicus have the highest numbers of outgoing links(48,32 and 31 respectively);thus,these species may be considered key prey species.Whitespotted conger Conger myriaster,fat greenling Hexagrammos otakii,and bluefin gurnard Chelidonichthys kumu were key predators with the highest number of incoming links(37,36 and 35 respectively).The competition graphs derived from the Haizhou Bay food web were highly connected(more than 40%predators sharing over 10 common prey species),and showed close trophic interaction between high trophic level fishes.Simulation analysis showed that the food web structure has small changes to the depletion of species in a highly complex food web.The most-connected target species did not necessarily indicate high structural importance;however,some species with low connectivity may demonstrate stronger trophic interactions and play important ecological roles in the food web.But most species were more sensitive to the depletion of the most-connected target species than other target species(for instance,for zooplankton,closeness centrality 13.876 in D6,but closenes
