High-mobility group box 1 was first discovered in the calf thymus as a DNA-binding nuclear protein and has been widely studied in diverse fields,including neurology and ***-mobility group box 1 in the extracellular space functions as a pro-inflammatory damage-associated molecular pattern,which has been proven to play an important role in a wide variety of central nervous system disorders such as ischemic stroke,Alzheimer’s disease,frontotemporal dementia,Parkinson’s disease,multiple sclerosis,epilepsy,and traumatic brain *** drugs that inhibit high-mobility group box 1 as a damage-associated molecular pattern,such as glycyrrhizin,ethyl pyruvate,and neutralizing anti-high-mobility group box 1 antibodies,are commonly used to target high-mobility group box 1 activity in central nervous system *** it is commonly known for its detrimental inflammatory effect,high-mobility group box 1 has also been shown to have beneficial pro-regenerative roles in central nervous system *** this narrative review,we provide a brief summary of the history of high-mobility group box 1 research and its characterization as a damage-associated molecular pattern,its downstream receptors,and intracellular signaling pathways,how high-mobility group box 1 exerts the repair-favoring roles in general and in the central nervous system,and clues on how to differentiate the pro-regenerative from the pro-inflammatory *** targeting high-mobility group box 1 in the central nervous system may benefit from differentiating between the two functions rather than overall suppression of high-mobility group box 1.

17-4 precipitation-hardened(PH)stainless steel(SS)exhibits high strength and good corrosion resistance via Cu-precipitation *** conventional wrought 17-4PH SS,Cu segregation andε-Cu pre-cipitates are observed in additively manufactured(AM)17-4PH SS owing to the repeated rapid cooling after heating,which characterizes the AM *** this study,solution treatment was conducted under various temperatures(1,000,1,050,1,100,and 1,200℃)and durations(1,2,4,and 8 h)to minimize the negative effects of Cu segregation andε-Cu precipitates on precipitation *** mechanical prop-erties and microstructures of each condition for the Cu precipitation behavior were *** theε-Cu precipitates did not disappear after solution treatment,the average diameter of theε-Cu precipi-tates tended to decrease with increasing solution treatment temperature and ***,solution treatment at a temperature of 1,200℃ for 8 h was the best,resulting in improved strength compared to the conventional solution treatment at 1,050℃.Solution treatment on at least 1,100℃ is effective in AM.

Fingerprint security technology has attracted a great deal of attention in recent years because of its unique biometric information that does not change over an individual’s lifetime and is a highly reliable and secure way to identify a certain ***(Automated Fingerprint Identification System)is a system used by Korean police for identifying a specific person by *** AFIS system,however,only selects a list of possible candidates through fingerprints,the exact individual must be found by fingerprint *** this paper,we designed a deep learning system using deep convolution network to categorize fingerprints as coming from either the left or right *** this paper,we applied the Classic CNN(Convolutional Neural Network),AlexNet,Resnet50(Residual Network),VGG-16,and YOLO(You Only Look Once)networks to this problem,these are deep learning architectures that have been widely used in image analysis *** used total 9,080 fingerprint images for training and 1,000 fingerprint to test the performance of the proposed *** a result of our tests,we found the ResNet50 network performed the best at determining if an input fingerprint image came from the left or right hand with an accuracy of 96.80%.

In this study,comprehensive evaluation of the technologies on waste heat recovery technologies for maritime applications has been carried *** have focused our research on exhaust gas turbine system(EGT),thermodynamic organic rankine cycle(RC),Kalina cycle(KC)and thermoelectric generators(TG),which are the most appropriate and most up-to-date techniques for recovering power from marine *** technology has its own advantages and disadvantages,so the comprehensive evaluation of these technologies is essential to accurately determine which technology will be applied to which *** belongs to the multi-criteria decision(MCDM)*** combined assessment methodology,consisting of gray correlation and analysis hierarchy processes,has been applied to evaluate four waste heat recovery techniques in terms of technical,economic,social and environmental *** to the comparison results,the exhaust gas turbine system has been evaluated as the most promising technology among the various WHR technologies that can be applied to marine *** analysis suggests that if investment cost of TG falls to about the same level as the one of EGT,TG could be the best method among these *** of investment cost of TG technology could be realized by development of low cost thermoelectric *** have analyzed the correlation between each cost through DOE analysis and investigate the effect of individual costs on the total *** work helps in identifying the most suitable heat recovery technologies for marine engine.

BACKGROUND Neuropathy is a common chronic complication in type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Statin and metformin are commonly used medications in T2DM patients,and some studies showed statin-or metformin-induced *** To evaluate the incidence of neuropathy among patients with T2DM associated with statin and metformin *** Korean Health Insurance Review and Assessment national patient sample data from 2016 and 2017 were *** with T2DM and no complications were divided into statin/metformin/statin+metformin users and *** incidence was defined by International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems,10th revision codes and concomitant prescriptions for anticonvulsants or *** regression analyses were conducted to examine the associations between statin/metformin/statin+metformin therapies and the incidence of *** score(PS)matching was performed on the basis of age,sex and *** Overall,34964 and 35887 patients with T2DM and no complications were included in the Korean Health Insurance Review and Assessment national patient sample datasets from 2016 and 2017,*** therapy was associated with increased risks of neuropathy in 2016 and 2017[PS-matched odds ratio(OR)=1.22,95%confidence interval(CI):1.08-1.38;PS-matched OR=1.17,95%CI:1.03-1.33,respectively].Metformin therapy was associated with reduced risks of neuropathy in 2016 and 2017(PS-matched OR=0.30,95%CI:0.21-0.42;PSmatched OR=0.44,95%CI:0.32-0.60,respectively).Combined statin+metformin therapy was not significantly associated with neuropathy in 2016 or 2017(PSmatched OR=0.85,95%CI:0.61-1.19;PS-matched OR=0.95,95%CI:0.66-1.38,respectively).CONCLUSION Statin therapy was associated with enhanced risk of new-onset neuropathy in patients with T2DM,but metformin therapy showed the opposite association.

Swarm robot systems are an important application of autonomous unmanned surface vehicles on water *** monitoring natural environments and conducting security activities within a certain range using a surface vehicle,the swarm robot system is more efficient than the operation of a single object as the former can reduce cost and save *** is necessary to detect adjacent surface obstacles robustly to operate a cluster of unmanned surface *** this purpose,a LiDAR(light detection and ranging)sensor is used as it can simultaneously obtain 3D information for all directions,relatively robustly and accurately,irrespective of the surrounding environmental *** the GPS(global-positioning-system)error range exists,obtaining measurements of the surface-vessel position can still ensure stability during platoon *** this study,a three-layer convolutional neural network is applied to classify types of surface *** aim of this approach is to redefine the sparse 3D point cloud data as 2D image data with a connotative meaning and subsequently utilize this transformed data for object classification ***,we have proposed a descriptor that converts the 3D point cloud data into 2D image *** use this descriptor effectively,it is necessary to perform a clustering operation that separates the point clouds for each *** developed voxel-based clustering for the point cloud ***,using the descriptor,3D point cloud data can be converted into a 2D feature image,and the converted 2D image is provided as an input value to the *** intend to verify the validity of the proposed 3D point cloud feature descriptor by using experimental data in the ***,we explore the feasibility of real-time object classification within this framework.

Effect of intraperitoneal local anesthetic on pain characteristics after laparoscopic cholecystectomy

AIM : To systematically evaluate the effect of intraperitoneal local anesthetic on pain characteristics after laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC).METHODS: We searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library. Randomized controlled trials in English that compared the effect of intraperitoneal administration of local anesthetics on pain with that of placebo or nothing after elective LC under general anesthesia were included. The primary outcome variables analyzed were the combined scores of abdominal, visceral, parietal, and shoulder pain after LC at multiple time points. We also extracted pain scores at resting and dynamic ***: We included 39 studies of 3045 patients in total. The administration of intraperitoneal local anesthetic reduced pain intensity in a resting state after laparoscopic cholecystectomy: abdominal [standardized mean difference(SMD) =-0.741; 95%CI:-1.001 to-0.48, P < 0.001]; visceral(SMD =-0.249; 95%CI:-0.493 to-0.006, P = 0.774); and shoulder(SMD =-0.273; 95%CI:-0.464 to-0.082, P = 0.097). Application of intraperitoneal local anesthetic significantly reduced the incidence of shoulder pain(RR = 0.437; 95%CI: 0.299 to 0.639, P < 0.001). There was no favorable effect on resting parietal or dynamic abdominal ***: Intraperitoneal local anesthetic as an analgesic adjuvant in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy exhibited beneficial effects on postoperative abdominal, visceral, and shoulder pain in a resting state.

Online Approach for Spatio-Temporal Trajectory Data Reduction for Portable Devices

As location data are widely available to portable devices, trajectory tracking of moving objects has become an essential technology for most location-based services. To maintain such streaming data of location updates from mobile clients, conventional approaches such as time-based regular location updating and distance-based location updating have been used. However, these methods suffer from the large amount of data, redundant location updates, and large trajectory estimation errors due to the varying speed of moving objects. In this paper, we propose a simple but efficient online trajectory data reduction method for portable devices. To solve the problems of redundancy and large estimation errors, the proposed algorithm computes trajectory errors and finds a recent location update that should be sent to the server to satisfy the user requirements. We evaluate the proposed algorithm with real GPS trajectory data consisting of 17 201 trajectories. The intensive simulation results prove that the proposed algorithm always meets the given user requirements and exhibits a data reduction ratio of greater than 87% when the acceptable trajectory error is greater than or equal to 10 meters.
