Stars with initial masses in the range of 8-25 solar masses are thought to end their lives as hydrogen-rich supernovae(SNeⅡ).Based on the pre-explosion images of Hubble space telescope(HST)and Spitzer space telescope,we place tight constraints on the progenitor candidate of type IIP SN 2023ixf in Messier 101.Fitting of the spectral energy distribution(SED)of its progenitor with dusty stellar spectral models results in an estimation of the effective temperature as 3091+422-258K.The luminosity is estimated as lg(L/L⊙)~4.83,consistent with a red supergiant(RSG)star with an initial mass of 12-1+2M⊙.The derived mass loss rate(6×10^(-6)-9×10^(-6)M⊙yr^(-1))is much lower than that inferred from the flash spectroscopy of the SN,suggesting that the progenitor experienced a sudden increase in mass loss when approaching the final explosion.In the infrared bands,significant deviation from the range of regular RSGs in the color-magnitude diagram and period-luminosity space of the progenitor star indicates enhanced mass loss and dust formation.Combined with new evidence of polarization at the early phases of SN 2023ixf,such a violent mass loss is likely a result of binary interaction.

Large low-field reversible magnetocaloric effect in K_(3)Gd(PO_(4))_(2) at sub-Kelvin temperature

We synthesized a potassium gadolinium phosphate K3Gd(PO_(4))_(2)with monoclinic structure(P2_(1/m))by the high-temperature solid-state reaction method.Its lattice constants obtained by Rietveld refinements of XRD curve are a=0.7411 nm,b=0.5624 nm,and c=0.9433 nm.Magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of K_(3)Gd(PO_(4))_(2)were investigated in detail.The magnetic phase transition temperature of K3Gd(PO_(4))2 was determined by ultra-low temperature testing to be 0.58 K.K_(3)Gd(PO_(4))2 exhibits large magnetic entropy changes(-ΔSM).The maximum-ΔSM are 20.2 and 29.4 J/(kg·K)in the magnetic field variation(ΔH)of 1 and 2 T,respectively,which are larger than that of the commercial Gd_(3)Ga_(5)O_(12)(GGG).The maximum adiabatic temperature change(ΔT_(ad))reaches 5.91 K under a magnetic field change(ΔH)of 1 T.K_(3)Gd(PO_(4))_(2)is a potential magnetic refrigeration material for obtaining sub-Kelvin temperatures.

Transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 involved in the analgesic effects of total flavonoids extracted from Longxuejie(Resina Dracaenae Cochinchinensis)

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the analgesic effects of total flavonoids of Longxuejie(Resina Dracaenae Cochinchinensis)(TFDB) and explore the possible analgesic mechanism associated with transient receptor potential vanilloid 1(TRPV1).METHODS: Whole-cell patch clamp technique was used to observe the effects of TFDB on capsaicin-induced TRPV1 currents. Rat experiments in vivo were used to observe the analgesic effects of TFDB. Western blot and immunofluorescence experiments were used to test the change of TRPV1 expression in DRG neurons induced by TFDB.RESULTS: Results showed that TFDB inhibited capsaicin-induced TRPV1 receptor currents in acutely isolated dorsal root ganglion(DRG) neurons of rats and the half inhibitory concentration was(16.7 ± 1.6) mg/L.TFDB(2-20 mg/kg) showed analgesic activity in the phase Ⅱ of formalin test and(0.02-2 mg per paw)reduced capsaicin-induced licking times of rats. TFDB(20 mg/kg) was fully efficacious on complete Freund's adjuvant(CFA)-induced inflammatory thermal hyperalgesia and capsaicin could weaken the analgesic effects. The level of TRPV1 expressions of DRG neurons was also decreased in TFDB-treated CFA-inflammatory pain rats.CONCLUSION: All these results indicated that the analgesic effect of TFDB may contribute to their modulations on both function and expression of TRPV1 channels in DRG neurons.

Sampled Value Attack Detection for Busbar Differential Protection Based on a Negative Selection Immune System

Considering a variety of sampled value(SV)attacks on busbar differential protection(BDP)which poses challenges to conventional learning algorithms,an algorithm to detect SV attacks based on the immune system of negative selection is developed in this paper.The healthy SV data of BDP are defined as self-data composed of spheres of the same size,whereas the SV attack data,i.e.,the nonself data,are preserved in the nonself space covered by spherical detectors of different sizes.To avoid the confusion between busbar faults and SV attacks,a self-shape optimization algorithm is introduced,and the improved self-data are verified through a power-frequency fault-component-based differential protection criterion to avoid false negatives.Based on the difficulty of boundary coverage in traditional negative selection algorithms,a self-data-driven detector generation algorithm is proposed to enhance the detector coverage.A testbed of differential protection for a 110 kV double busbar system is then established.Typical SV attacks of BDP such as amplitude and current phase tampering,fault replays,and the disconnection of the secondary circuits of current transformers are considered,and the delays of differential relay operation caused by detection algorithms are investigated.

The Mediterranean diet has long been recognized as one of the most effective ways to prevent and improve cardiovascular disease.Extra virgin olive oil(EVOO)is the typical sources of fat in the Mediterranean diet which have been shown to have noteworthy nutritional value and positive impact on human health.It is worth noting that EVOO owes its superior nutritional value to its bioactive composition.The main component of EVOO is monounsaturated fatty acids(MUFAs)in the form of oleic acid.Oleic acid accounts for up to 70%-80%of EVOO.Secondly,EVOO contains approximately more than 30 phenolic compounds,of which HT is essential for the protection against cardiovascular diseases.In this review,we focused on the potential mechanisms of oleic acid and polyphenols combat cardiovascular diseases risk in terms of oxidative stress,inflammation,blood pressure,endothelial function and cholesterol.This review might provide a reference for the studies on cardiovascular protective effects of EVOO.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)is a malignant epithelial tumor,characterized by squamous cell differentiation,it is the sixth leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally.The increased mortality rate of ESCC patients is predominantly due to the advanced stage of the disease when discovered,coupled with higher risk of metastasis,which is an exceedingly malignant charac-teristic of cancer,frequently leading to a high mortality rate.Unfortunately,there is currently no specific and effective marker to predict and treat metastasis in ESCC.MicroRNAs(miRNAs)are a class of small non-coding RNA molecules,approximately 22 nucleotides in length.miRNAs are vital in modulating gene expression and serve pivotal regulatory roles in the occurrence,progression,and prognosis of cancer.Here,we have examined the literature to highlight the intimate correlations between miRNAs and ESCC metastasis,and show that ESCC metastasis is predominantly regulated or regulated by genetic and epigenetic factors.This review proposes a potential role for miRNAs as diagnostic and therapeutic biomarkers for metastasis in ESCC metastasis,with the ultimate aim of reducing the mortality rate among patients with ESCC.

We previously demonstrated that normal high-density lipoprotein(nHDL)can promote angiogenesis,whereas HDL from patients with coronary artery disease(d HDL)is dysfunctional and impairs angiogenesis.Autophagy plays a critical role in angiogenesis,and HDL regulates autophagy.However,it is unclear whether n HDL and d HDL regulate angiogenesis by affecting autophagy.Endothelial cells(ECs)were treated with n HDL and d HDL with or without an autophagy inhibitor.Autophagy,endothelial nitric oxide synthase(e NOS)expression,miRNA expression,nitric oxide(NO)production,superoxide anion(O2^(·-))generation,EC migration,and tube formation were evaluated.n HDL suppressed the expression of miR-181a-5p,which promotes autophagy and the expression of e NOS,resulting in NO production and the inhibition of O2^(·-)generation,and ultimately increasing in EC migration and tube formation.d HDL showed opposite effects compared to n HDL and ultimately inhibited EC migration and tube formation.We found that autophagy-related protein 5(ATG5)was a direct target of miR-181a-5p.ATG5 silencing or miR-181a-5p mimic inhibited n HDL-induced autophagy,e NOS expression,NO production,EC migration,tube formation,and enhanced O2^(·-)generation,whereas overexpression of ATG5 or miR-181a-5p inhibitor reversed the above effects of d HDL.ATG5 expression and angiogenesis were decreased in the ischemic lower limbs of hypercholesterolemic low-density lipoprotein receptor null(LDLr^(-/-))mice when compared to C57BL/6 mice.ATG5 overexpression improved angiogenesis in ischemic hypercholesterolemic LDLr^(-/-)mice.Taken together,nHDL was able to stimulate autophagy by suppressing miR-181a-5p,subsequently increasing e NOS expression,which generated NO and promoted angiogenesis.In contrast,d HDL inhibited angiogenesis,at least partially,by increasing miR-181a-5p expression,which decreased autophagy and e NOS expression,resulting in a decrease in NO production and an increase in O2^(·-)generation.Our findings reveal a novel mechanism by which HDL affects angiogenesis b

A double sideband combined tracking method for Galileo E5 AltBOC signals

The Galileo navigation satellite system(Galileo)E5 Alternative Binary Offset Carrier(AltBOC)signal brings various challenges due to its complex modulation,wide bandwidth,and multi-peaked auto-correlation function.While wideband tracking needs to solve the ambiguity problem and design dedicated baseband channels,the single-sideband cannot have the outstanding performance of the AltBOC signal.We propose a new tracking method called“Double Sideband Combined Tracking”(DSCT),which can fully exploit the AltBOC signal’s code tracking accuracy without ambiguity and ensure compatibility with Binary Phase Shift Keying(BPSK)processing channels,easily implemented in hardware.The DSCT employs one phase locked loop and one delay locked loop to track the carrier and code,respectively.The double-sideband correlation results used by the two loops are recovered by coherently combining the singlesideband correlation results of the two BPSK channels.Meanwhile,the combined model,the loop discriminator,and the ambiguity detection of the DSCT are discussed.Furthermore,the code tracking error caused by thermal noise is modeled and analyzed.The test results based on real Galileo E5 signals show that the DSCT exhibits better or comparable code tracking accuracy to the AltBOC wideband tracking method.When the loop falsely locks onto a sidepeak,the DSCT can quickly detect and re-lock on the main peak.

Skeletal muscle has a robust regeneration ability that is impaired by severe injury,disease,and aging.resulting in a decline in skeletal muscle function.Therefore,improving skeletal muscle regeneration is a key challenge in treating skeletal muscle-related disorders.Owing to their significant role in tissue regeneration,implantation of M2 macrophages(M2MФ)has great potential for improving skeletal muscle regeneration.Here,we present a short-wave infrared(SWIR)fluorescence imaging technique to obtain more in vivo information for an in-depth evaluation of the skeletal muscle regeneration effect after M2MФtransplantation.SWIR fluorescence imaging was employed to track implanted M2MФin the injured skeletal muscle of mouse models.It is found that the implanted M2MФaccumulated at the injury site for two weeks.Then,SWIR fluorescence imaging of blood vessels showed that M2MФimplantation could improve the relative perfusion ratio on day 5(1.09±0.09 vs 0.85±0.05;p=0.01)and day 9(1.38±0.16 vs 0.95±0.03;p=0.01)post-injury,as well as augment the degree of skeletal muscle regencration on day 13 post-injury.Finally,multiple linear regression analyses determined that post-injury time and relative perfusion ratio could be used as predictive indicators to evaluate skeletal muscle regeneration.These results provide more in vivo details about M2MФin skeletal muscle regeneration and confirm that M2MФcould promote angiogenesis and improve the degree of skeletal muscle repair,which will guide the research and development of M2MФimplantation to improve skeletal muscle regeneration.

molecular characterization and structure basis of a malonyltransferase with both substrate promiscuity and catalytic regiospecificity from Cistanche tubulosa

Enzymatic malonylation of natural glycosides provides a promising alternative method for drug-like malonylated glycosides supply.However,the catalytic potential and structural basis of plant malonyltransferase are far from being fully elucidated.This work identified a new malonyltransferase CtMaT1 from Cistanche tubulosa.It displayed unprecedented mono-and/or di-malonylation activity toward diverse glucosides with different aglycons.A“one-pot”system by CtMaT1 and a malonyl-CoA synthetase was established to biosynthesize nine new malonylated glucosides.Structural investigations revealed that CtMaT1 possesses an adequately spacious acyl-acceptor pocket capable of accommodating diverse glucosides.Additionally,it recognizes malonyl-CoA through strong electrotactic and hydrogen interactions.QM/MM calculation revealed the H167-mediated SN2 reaction mechanism of CtMaT1,while dynamic simulations detected the formation of stable hydrogen bonds between the glucose-6-OH group and H167,resulting in its high malonylation regiospecificity.Calculated energy profiles of two isomeric glycosides highlighted lower reaction energy barriers towards glucoside substrates,emphasizing CtMaT1's preference for glucosides.Furthermore,a mutant CtMaT1H36A with notably increased di-malonylation activity was obtained.The underlying molecular mechanism was illuminated through MM/GBSA binding free energy calculation.This study significantly advances the understanding of plant acyltransferases from both functional and protein structural perspectives,while also providing a versatile tool for enzymatic malonylation applications in pharmacology.
