Given extensive and rapid urbanization globally,assessing regional urban thermal effects(UTE)in both canopy and boundary layers under extreme weather/climate conditions is of significant *** population and economic growth in the Yangtze River Delta(YRD)have made it one of the largest city clusters in ***,we explore the three-dimensional(3D)UTE in the YRD using multi-source observations from high-resolution automatic weather stations,radiosondes,and eddy covariance sensors during the record-setting heat wave(HW)of July-August *** is found that the regional canopy layer UTE is up to 0.6-1.2℃,and the nocturnal UTE(0.7-1.6℃)is larger than daytime UTE(0.2-0.5℃)during the *** regional canopy layer UTE is enhanced and expanded northwards,with some rural sites contaminated by the urban influences,especially at *** the boundary layer,the strengthened regional UTE extends vertically to at least 925 hPa(~750 m)during this *** strengthened 3D UTE in the YRD is associated with an enlarged Bowen ratio difference between urban and non-urban *** findings about the 3D UTE are beneficial for better understanding of the thermal environment of large city clusters under HW and for more appropriate adaption and mitigation strategies.

Objective To assess the test-retest reliability and criterion validity of the Simplified Chinese-character version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire Long form （IPAC）.-L） in urban community-dwelling adults in Hanghzou, China. Methods A total of 158 eligible participants aged 25-59 years from 6 neighbourhoods in two central districts of Hangzhou completed the IPAQ-L questionnaire twice within a 7-day interval. Half of the subjects wore pedometers during the first 7 days. Test-retest reliability was examined by comparing the first （Day 1） and the second （Day 9） survey of IPAQ-L Criterion validity was assessed by comparing IPAO,-L with pedometer data. Results Modest to good test-retest reliability was found with intraclass correlation coefficients of 0.67 for total PA, 0.37 to 0.73 for specific dimensions, and 0.56 to 0.71 for different intensities of PA. Total PA measured by IPAO.-L was moderately correlated with exercise levels （partial r = 0.27, P = 0.020） and walking distance （partial r = 0.31, P = 0.007）, which were measured by a pedometer, after adjusting for gender, age, educational attainment and employment status. Conclusion Our results indicate that the IPAO.-L is a reliable and validated measure for assessing physica activity levels in this population and possibly the adult population in other mainland Chinese cities.

High-efficiency tea shoot detection method via a compressed deep learning model

Achieving high-efficiency and accurate detection of tea shoots in fields are essential for tea robotic plucking. A real-time tea shoot detection method using the channel and layer pruned YOLOv3-SPP deep learning algorithm was proposed in this study. First, tea shoot images were collected and data augmentation was performed to increase sample diversity, and then a spatial pyramid pooling module was added to the YOLOv3 model to detect tea shoots. To simplify the tea shoot detection model and improve the detection speed, the channel pruning algorithm and layer pruning algorithm were used to compress the model. Finally, the model was fine-tuned to restore its accuracy, and achieve the fast and accurate detection of tea shoots. The test results demonstrated that the number of parameters, model size, and inference time of the tea shoot detection model after compression reduced by 96.82%, 96.81%, and 59.62%, respectively, whereas the mean average precision of the model was only 0.40% lower than that of the original model. In the field test, the compressed model was deployed on a Jetson Xavier NX to conduct the detection of tea shoots. The experimental results demonstrated that the detection speed of the compressed model was 15.9 fps, which was 3.18 times that of the original model. All the results indicate that the proposed method could be deployed on tea harvesting robots with low computing power to achieve high efficiency and accurate detection.

Wing polymorphism is an evolutionary trait that is widely present in various insects and provides a model system for studying the evolutionary significance of insect *** brown planthopper(BPH,Nilaparvata lugens)can alter its wing morphs un-der biotic and abiotic ***,whether differential signaling pathways are induced by the 2 types of stress remain largely ***,we screened a number of candidate genes through weighted gene co-expression network analysis(WGCNA)and found that ornithine decarboxylase(NIODC),a key enzyme in the synthesis of polyamines,was as-sociated with wing differentiation in BPH and mainly responded to abiotic stress *** analyzed the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes enrichment pathways of dif-ferentially expressed genes under the 2 stresses by transcriptomic comparison,and found that biotic stress mainly influenced insulin-related signaling pathways while abiotic stress mainly influenced hormone-related ***,we found that insulin receptor 1(NllnRI)may regulate wing differentiation of BPH by responding to both biotic and abiotic stress,but NllnR2 only responded to biotic ***,the juvenile hormone epoxide hydrolase associated with juvenile hormone degradation and NIODC may regu-late wing differentiation mainly through abiotic stress.A model based on the genes and stresses to modulate the wing dimorphism of BPH was *** findings present a comprehensive molecular mechanism for wing polymorphism in BPH induced by biotic and abiotic stress.
