Diarrhea is a prevalent gastrointestinal problem associated with fatal *** is a huge public health concern that requires better alternatives to current *** study investigated the mechanisms involved in the antidiarrheal activity of Anacardium occidentale(Ao) stem bark extract,a plant commonly used in the management of diarrhea in *** stem bark extract of the plant was partitioned into three fractions:hexane fraction,ethyl acetate fraction(Ao EF) and methanol *** vitro studies on the effect of these fractions on guinea pig ileum(GPI) strips,as well as the modulatory effect of Ao EF on standard agonists-and antagonists-induced GPI contraction and relaxation,revealed Ao EF as the most active *** vivo studies to assess the effect of Ao EF on the dopaminergic,muscarinic,and serotonergic pathways were carried out using gastric emptying(GE) and gastrointestinal transit(GT) as experimental end *** EF was subjected to GC-MS analysis,while the identified compounds were docked with the muscarinic acetylcholine receptor M3(CHRM3) using Autodock *** indicated that Ao EF inhibited GE and GT via inhibition of *** addition,GC-MS analysis revealed the presence of 24 compounds in Ao EF,while docking indicated that octadecanoic acid 2-(2-hydroxylethoxy)ethyl ester exhibited the highest binding affinity to *** study indicated that the antidiarrheal activity of Ao is through its antimotility effect via the inhibition of the muscarinic *** since none of the identified compounds exhibited higher binding affinity to CHRM3 relative to loperamide,the antimotility activity of these phytoconstituents may be via synergism.

Recent results emphasize the supportive effects of adipose-derived multipotent stem/progenitor cells(ADSPCs)in peripheral nerve *** under hypoxia is considered to enhance the release of the regenerative potential of *** study aimed to examine whether peripheral nerve regeneration in a rat model of autologous sciatic nerve graft benefits from an additional custom-made fibrin conduit seeded with hypoxic pre-conditioned(2%oxygen for 72 hours)autologous ADSPCs(n=9).This treatment mode was compared with three others:fibrin conduit seeded with ADSPCs cultivated under normoxic conditions(n=9);non-cell-carrying conduit(n=9);and nerve autograft only(n=9).A 16-week follow-up included functional testing(sciatic functional index and static sciatic index)as well as postmortem muscle mass analyses and morphometric nerve evaluations(histology,g-ratio,axon density,and diameter).At 8 weeks,the hypoxic pre-conditioned group achieved significantly higher sciatic functional index/static sciatic index scores than the other three groups,indicating faster functional ***,histologic evaluation showed significantly increased axon outgrowth/branching,axon density,remyelination,and a reduced relative connective tissue *** pre-conditioned ADSPCs seeded in fibrin conduits are a promising adjunct to current nerve *** studies are needed to understand the underlying cellular mechanism and to investigate a potential application in clinical practice.

Most satellite digital radio （SDR） systems use orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing （OFDM） transmission, which means that variable envelope signals are distorted by the RF power amplifier （PA）. It is customary to back off the input power to the PA to avoid the PA nonlinear region of operation. In this way, linearity can be achieved at the cost of power efficiency. Another attractive option is to use a linearizer, which compensates for the nonlinear effects of the PA. In this paper, an OFDM transmitter conforming to European Telecommunications Standard Institute SDR Technical Specifications 2007-2008 was designed and implemented on a low-cost field-programmable gate array （FPGA） platform. A weakly nonlinear PA, operating in the L-band SDR frequency, was used for signal transmission. An adaptive linearizer was designed and implemented on the same FPGA device using digital predistortion to correct the undesired effects of the PA on the transmitted signal. Test results show that spectral distortion can be suppressed between 6-9 dB using the designed linearizer when the PA is driven close to its saturation region.

abstract： Contractual savings scheme is specific purpose saving, which was provided in Slovakia since 1993. It is a state-supported saving, the purpose of which is to finance housing needs in the Slovak Republic. Savers can be an individual, association of owners or legal person who enters into a contract with building society or for whom the contract about contractual savings scheme is concluded. State bonuses is contractual savings scheme, a significantly more attractive form of targeted saving. This ensures the supply of investment in the construction sector, which in turn through multiplier effect significantly affects other sectors of the national economy. In this article, the authors deal with the influence of contractual savings scheme to the national economy of the Slovak Republic. The main objective of this study is describing the effectiveness of state bonuses for contractual savings scheme. It is simulated through the impact of contractual savings scheme on employment, on public funds and impact on public finances. This effect is illustrated on a model of state subsidizing of each one Euro spent through the state bonuses for contractual savings scheme and its impact for the national economy with offsetting the significant role of the multiplier effect.

Bio-proxies provide relevant information on ecosystem health and environmental dynamics. In this study, diatom assemblages of two cores collected from the Ugandan side of Lake Victoria at Napoleon Gulf （＂NAPGI＂（GPS, 00°25＇44.5＂ N, 033°14＇10.4＂ E）） and Sango Bay （＂SAGB2＂（GPS, 00°51＇48.0＂ S, 031°42＇47.8＂ E）） provide evidence of long term changes in the Lake Basin from ca 10,500 years to present. Diatom information was supported by phytolith data from the same cores. The period from ca 10,500-8,100 cal·yr·BP experienced moderate precipitation, strong turbulence with reduced forest cover in the lake＇s catchments. During the phase ca 8,100-6,600 cal＇yr＇BP, the lake basin experienced increased precipitation but with reduced mixing of the water column. This period was also characterized by increased forest vegetation cover as reflected by phytolith assemblages. The period from ca 5,900-1,400 cal·yr·BP was characterized by regular changes in precipitation, turbulence and vegetation taxa in the catchment areas. The phase from ca. 1,800 cal·yr·BP to present was characterized by significant increase in Fragilaria and Nitzschia species as well as increase in Nitzschia： Aulacoseira ratio which may be attributed to human involvement in the ecological functioning of Lake Victoria ecosystem.

Background:The Undergraduate Research Mentorship Program(URMP)at the University of Pittsburgh(UPitt),School of Nursing(SoN)was envisioned and implemented in the 2008 e2009 academic year to expose undergraduate students to research early in their college educational ***,the URMP is a method to retain current students and attract new high school applicants to the ***:This article presents(1)the program's conceptualization,objectives,implementation,and outcomes using descriptive statistics and(2)the strengths of the URMP as well as the opportunities gained and lessons learned through conducting the ***:The program has shown success in attracting students to get involved in *** date,63.3%e75.7%of participating students reported gaining various research skills from the ***,URMP students have reported participating in conferences and creating close relationships with their mentors;indeed,97%of these students are interested in pursuing a graduate ***,the majority of URMP student participants(85.7%)have reported that not only the research experience met or exceeded their expectations,but also they were very satisfied with the research ***:Through the URMP,unlike a traditional didactic class,students can benefit from experiential learning,incentives to participate,and a mentoring relationship without the added pressure of obtaining grades at the end of the term.

The aesthetic quality of most of the universities’ campus environment in Nigeria deserves attention considering the inadequate, misused and mismanagement of the campuses’ open spaces. This has exerted a major strain on the welfare and productivity of people (staff and students) in the universities. This study identifies the evolving positive roles of landscape in campus space management with a particular reference to the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria. Random sampling method was adopted to collect data and information from the students, staff and heads of Planning and Horticulture Units of the institution. The results show that, challenges facing landscape planning in the university include inadequate finance, inadequate facilities, management problem and attitudinal problem of landscape users. The study recommends proper use and management of open space, landscape elements, outdoor rooms with various spatial qualities, and provision of enough funds to Planning and Horticulture units for landscape planning and environmental improvements.

Potential of Fermentation in Detoxifying Toxic Cassava Root Tubers

Quantitative determination of hydrogen cyanide （HCN） content in a toxic local cassava variety ＂Rutuga＂ with an initial total HCN of 16.65%, free HCN of 9.19% and bound HCN （cyanoglycosides） of 7.46% in the fresh peeled root tubers was done to assess the effectiveness of aquatic and terrestrial （heap） fermentation in detoxifying cassava root tubers for obtaining dried product used in making flour. This was indirectly done by getting the difference in HCN content that remained after processing the root tubers using some traditional processing techniques. The findings indicated that aquatic fermentation in water from river Rwizi for 4 days only removed 1.23% of total HCN, 0.05% of free HCN and 2.68% of Cyanoglycosides （bound HCN） while terrestrial （heap） fermentation for 4 days removed 50.33% of total HCN, 20.84% of free HCN and 86.66% of Cyanoglycosides （bound HCN）. Therefore, terrestrial （heap） fermentation has a higher potential in removing total HCN, free HCN and cyanoglycosides （bound HCN） than aquatic fermentation, especially in water from river Rwizi.

AIM To evaluate risk factors for primary sclerosing cholangitis(PSC) recurrence(rPSC) after orthotopic liver transplantation(OLT) in patients with well-preserved colons. METHODS We retrospectively evaluated the medical records of all patients transplanted for PSC in our center between July 1994 and May 2015 and selected 47 with followup of at least 60 mo for further analysis based on strict inclusion and exclusion criteria. rPSC was confirmed by magnetic resonance or endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography and liver biopsy. All patients were evaluated by protocolary pre-OLT colonoscopy with randomized mucosal biopsies. Colonoscopy was repeated annually after OLT. Both organ donors and recipients were human leukocyte antigen(HLA) typed by serological and/or DNA methods. All input data were thoroughly analyzed employing relevant statistical *** Altogether, 31 men and 16 women with a median(range) age of 36(15-68) years at the time of OLT and a median follow-up of 122(60-249) mo were included. rPSC was confirmed in 21/47(44.7%) of patients, a median 63(12-180) mo after transplantation. De novo colitis [rPSC in 11/12, P ≤ 0.05, hazard ratio(HR): 4.02, 95% confidence interval(CI): 1.58-10.98] and history of acute cellular rejection(rPSC in 14/25, P ≤ 0.05; HR: 2.66, 95%CI: 1.03-7.86) showed strong positive associations with rPSC. According to the univariate analysis, overlapping features of autoimmune hepatitis(r PSC in 5/5, P ≤ 0.05) and HLA-DRB1*07 in the donor(r PSC in 10/15, P ≤ 0.05) represent other potential risk factors for rPSC, while the HLA-DRB1*04(rPSC in 0/6, P ≤ 0.05), HLA-DQB1*03(rPSC in 1/11, P ≤ 0.05), and HLA-DQB1*07(rPSC in 0/7, P ≤ 0.05) recipient alleles may have protective *** De novo colitis and acute cellular rejection are clinical conditions significantly predisposed towards recurrence of PSC after liver transplantation.
