Neoarchean and Rhyacian TTG-Sanukitoid suites in the southern S?o francisco Paleocontinent,Brazil:Evidence for diachronous change towards modern tectonics

The southern portion of the Sao francisco Palaeocontinent in Brazil is denoted by Archean nuclei and Paleoproterozoic magmatic arcs that were amalgamated during Siderian to Orosirian orogenic processes(ca.2.4-2.1 Ga).New isotopic U-Pb in zircon and Sm-Nd whole rock combined with major and trace element composition analyses constrain the crystallization history of the Neoarchean Piedade block(at ca.2.6 Ga)and the Paleoproterozoic Mantiqueira Complex(ca.2.1-1.9 Ga).These therefore display quite different magmatic histories prior to their amalgamation at ca.2.05 ***-Nd and Rb-Sr isotopes imply a mixed mantle-crustal origin for the samples in both units.A complete Palaeoproterozoic orogenic cycle,from subduction to collision and collapse,is recorded in the Piedade Block and the Mantiqueira *** to Orosirian subduction processes(ca.2.2-2.1 Ga)led to the generation of coeval(ca.2.16 Ga)TTG suites and sanukitoids,followed by late(2.10-2.02 Ga)high-K granitoids that mark the collisional *** collisional accretion of the Mantiqueira Complex against the Piedade Block at 2.08-2.04 Ga is also recorded by granulite facies metamorphism in the latter terrane,along the Ponte Nova suture *** collisional stage was closely followed by the emplacement of within-plate tholeiites at ca.2.04 Ga and by alkaline rocks(syenites and enriched basic rocks)at ca.1.98 Ga,marking the transition to an extensional tectonic *** discovery of two episodes of TTG and sanukitoid magmatism,one during the Neoarchean in the Piedade Complex and another during the Rhyacian in the Mantiqueira Complex,indicates that the onset of subduction-related melting of metasomatized mantle was not restricted to Neoarchean times,as generally believed,but persisted much later into the Paleoproterozoic.

An Overview of the Amazonian Craton Evolution: Insights for Paleocontinental Reconstruction

The Amazonian craton major accretionary and collisional processes may be correlated to supercontinent assemblies developed at several times in the Earth history. Based on geologic, structural and paleomagnetic evidence paleocontinent reconstructions have been proposed for Archean to younger times. The oldest continent (Ur) was formed probably by five Achaean cratonic areas (Kaapvaal, Western Dhawar, Bhandara, Singhhum and Pilbara cratons). Geologic evidences suggest the participation of the Archaean rocks of the Carajás region in the Ur landmass. Supercontinental 2.45 Ga Kenorland amalgamation is indicated by paleomagnetic data including Laurentia, Baltica, Australia, and Kalahari and Kaapvaal cratons. There is no evidence indicating that Amazonian craton was part of the Kenorland supercontinent. From 1.83 Ga to 1.25 Ga Columbia and Hudsonland supercontinents including Amazonian craton were proposed based on NE portion of the Amazonian craton (Maroni/Itacaiunas province) connection with West Africa and Kalahari cratons. Rodinia supercontinent reconstructions show Amazonia joined to Laurentia-Baltica as result of 1.1 Ga to 1.0 Ga fusion based on the Sunsas-Aguapei belts and Greenville and Sveconorwegian belts, respectivelly. The large Late Mesoproterozoic landmass included also Siberia, East Antartica, West Nile, Kalahari, Congo/Sao francisco and Greenland. The 750 - 520 Ma Gondwana assembly includes most of the continental fragments rifted apart during the break-up of Rodinia followed by diachronic collisions (Araguaia, Paraguay and Tucavaca belts). The supercontinent Pangea is comprised of Gondwana and Laurentia formed at about 300 - 180 Ma ago. The Amazonian craton margins probably were not envolved in the collisional processes during Pangea because it was embebed in Neoproterozoic materials. As consequence, Amazonian craton borders have no record of the orogenic processes responsible for the Pangea amalgamation.

Biomedical Perspectives About Women with Chronic Pelvic Pain:A Qualitative Analysis

Because the aetiology of chronic pelvic pain is complex, studies of the condition involve extensive investigation but provide few conclusions. Numerous studies have addressed the experiences of women with chronic pelvic pain, as well as the interaction between those women and their health care providers. Our objective was to investigate how physicians at a specialised clinic perceive the medical care provided to such women. This was a qualitative study employing semi-structured interviews and content analysis. We interviewed seven physicians at the Chronic Pelvic Pain Outpatient Clinic of the University Hospital, Faculty of Medicine of Ribeir?o Preto, University of S?o Paulo, Brazil. Medical training and practice constituted the central theme of the study, which was subdivided into categories addressing the influence that the current medical training has on the type of medical care provided to women with chronic pelvic pain. Medical practice has been characterised by a reductionist approach to health and illness, as well as by the fragmentation of health care. These characteristics are, to a certain extent, the result of the biomedical model of education, which has been predominant, ignoring social, cultural, psychological and emotional aspects. There is a need to shift the medical paradigms toward a humanistic model of health care. We hope that we have provided a critical view of current medical training and practice, as well as of their effects in various health care settings, particularly in the provision of care to women with chronic pelvic pain.

Objective:To investigate the in vitro antimicrobial potential of extracts of stem,leaves,flowers,pods and seeds of Moringu okifera(***) against Vibrio *** hatchery water and the prawn Mmrobrachium ***:The ethanol extracts of stem,leaves,pods and seeds and chloroform extract of flowers of *** were tested against Vibrio cholerue(***) serogroups non-O1/non-O139(n=4).Vibrio vulnificus(n=l) and Vibrio mimicus(n=1).Escherichia coli(***)(ATCC(?) 25922) was used as quality *** species were obtained from Macmbrachium amazonicum prawns and from hatchery water from prawn *** Minimum Inhibitory Concentration(MIC) was determined by broth microdilution ***:The best result was obtained with the ethanol extract of pods,which inhibited three strains of the ***,Vibrio vulnificus,Vibrio minimis and ***(MIC range 0.312-5.000 mg/mL).The chloroform extract of flowers was effective against all *** strains and ***(MIC range 0.625-1.250 mg/mL).However,the ethanol extracts of stem and seeds showed low effectiveness in inhibiting the bacterial ***:The extracts of pods,flowers and leaves of *** have potential for the control of Vibrio *** studies are necessary to isolate the bioaetive compounds responsible for this antimicrobial activity.

AIM: To compare the current capsule and a new prototype at 2 and 4 frames-per-second, respectively, in terms of clinical and therapeutic impact. METHODS: One hundred patients with an indication for capsule endoscopy were included in the study. All procedures were performed with the new device(SB24). After an exhaustive evaluation of the SB24 videos, they were then converted to "SB2-like" videos for their evaluation. Findings, frames per finding, and clinical and therapeutic impact derived from video visualization were analyzed. Kappa index for interobserver agreement and χ2 and Student's t tests for qualitative/quantitative variables, respectively, were used. Values of P under 0.05 were considered statistically ***: Eighty-nine out of 100 cases included in the study were ultimately included in the analysis. The SB24 videos detected the anatomical landmarks(Zline and duodenal papilla) and lesions in more patients than the "SB2-like" videos. On the other hand, the SB24 videos detected more frames per landmark/lesion than the "SB2-like" videos. However, these differences were not statistically significant(P > 0.05). Both clinical and therapeutic impacts were similar between SB24 and "SB2-like" videos(K = 0.954). The time spent by readers was significantly higher for SB24 videos visualization(P 0.05).CONCLUSION: More frames-per-second detect more landmarks, lesions, and frames per landmark/lesion, but is time consuming and has a very low impact on clinical and therapeutic management.

Characterizing the diversity and structure of host–parasite communities is crucial to understandingtheir eco-evolutionary *** and related haemosporidian parasites are responsible forfitness loss and mortality in bird species ***,despite exhibiting the greatest ornithologicalbiodiversity,avian haemosporidians from Neotropical regions are quite ***,we analyze the genetic diversity of bird haemosporidian parasites(Plasmodium andHaemoproteus)in 1,336 individuals belonging to 206 bird species to explore for differences in diversityof parasite lineages and bird species across 5 well-differentiated Peruvian *** 70 different haemosporidian lineages infecting 74 bird *** showed that 25 out ofthe 70 haplotypes had not been previously ***,we also identified 81 new host–parasite interactions representing new host records for these haemosporidian *** outcomesrevealed that the effective diversity(as well as the richness,abundance,and Shannon–Weaver index)for both birds and parasite lineages was higher in Amazon basin ***,we also showed that ecoregions with greater diversity of bird species also had highparasite richness,hence suggesting that host community is crucial in explaining parasite *** parasites were found in ecoregions with lower bird diversity,implying that the abundanceand richness of hosts may shape the exploitation strategy followed by haemosporidian *** outcomes reveal that Neotropical region is a major reservoir of unidentified *** studies analyzing host distribution and specificity of these parasites inthe tropics will provide important knowledge about phylogenetic relationships,phylogeography,and patterns of evolution and distribution of haemosporidian parasites.

Software Package Evaluation for Lyapunov Exponent and Others Features of Signals Evaluating Condition Monitoring Performance of Nonlinear Dynamic Systems

Efficient use of industrial equipment, increase its availability, safety and economic issues spur strong research on maintenance programs based on their operating conditions. Machines normally operate in a linear range, but when malfunctions occur, nonlinear behavior might set in. By studying and comparing five nonlinear features, which listed in decreasing order by their damage detection capability are: LLE (largest Lyapunov exponent), embedded dimension, Kappa determinism, time delay and cross error values; i. e., LLE performs best. Using somewhat similar ideas from Chaos control, i. e., vary the "mass imbalance" forcing parameters, we aim to stabilize the Lorenz equation. Quite interestingly, for certain imbalance excitation values, the system is stabilized. The previous even when paradigmatically chaotic parameters for Lorenz system are used (plus our forcing terms). This quasi-control approach is validated studying signals obtained from the previously mentioned lab test. Finally, it is concluded that analyzing and comparing nonlinear features extracted from baseline vs. malfunction condition (test acquired), one might increase the efficiency and the performance of machine condition monitoring.

AIM To analyze the diagnostic yield(DY), therapeutic impact(TI) and safety of capsule endoscopy(CE).METHODS This is a multi-centre, observational, analytical, retrospective study. A total of 163 patients with suspicion of celiac disease(CD)(mean age = 46.4 ± 17.3 years, 68.1% women) who underwent CE from 2003 to 2015 were included. Patients were divided into four groups: seronegative CD with atrophy(Group-Ⅰ, n = 19), seropositive CD without atrophy(Group-Ⅱ, n = 39), contraindication to gastroscopy(Group-Ⅲ, n = 6), seronegative CD without atrophy, but with a compatible context(Group-Ⅳ, n = 99). DY, TI and the safety of CE were *** The overall DY was 54% and the final diagnosis was villous atrophy(n = 65, 39.9%), complicated CD(n = 12, 7.4%) and other enteropathies(n = 11, 6.8%; 8 Crohn's). DY for groups Ⅰ to Ⅳ was 73.7%, 69.2%, 50% and 44.4%, respectively. Atrophy was located in duodenum in 24 cases(36.9%), diffuse in 19(29.2%), jejunal in 11(16.9%), and patchy in 10 cases(15.4%). Factors associated with a greater DY were positive serology(68.3% vs 49.2%, P = 0.034) and older age(P = 0.008). On the other hand, neither sex nor clinical presentation, family background, positive histology or HLA status were associated with DY. CE resultschanged the therapeutic approach in 71.8% of the cases. Atrophy was associated with a greater TI(92.3% vs 45.3%, P < 0.001) and 81.9% of the patients responded to diet. There was one case of capsule retention(0.6%). Agreement between CE findings and subsequent histology was 100% for diagnosing normal/other conditions, 70% for suspected CD and 50% for complicated *** CE has a high DY in cases of suspicion of CD and it leads to changes in the clinical course of the disease. CE is safe procedure with a high degree of concordance with histology and it helps in the differential diagnosis of CD.

Bone changes in alcoholic liver disease

Alcoholism has been associated with growth impairment, osteomalacia, delayed fracture healing, and aseptic necrosis(primarily necrosis of the femoral head), but the main alterations observed in the bones of alcoholic patients are osteoporosis and an increased risk of fractures. Decreased bone mass is a hallmark of osteoporosis, and it may be due either to decreased bone synthesis and/or to increased bone breakdown. Ethanol may affect both mechanisms. It is generally accepted that ethanol decreases bone synthesis, and most authors have reported decreased osteocalcin levels(a "marker" of bone synthesis), but some controversy exists regarding the effect of alcohol on bone breakdown, and, indeed, disparate results have been reported for telopeptide and other biochemical markers of bone resorption. In addition to the direct effect of ethanol, systemic alterations such as malnutrition, malabsorption, liver disease, increased levels of proinflammatory cytokines, alcoholic myopathy and neuropathy, low testosterone levels, and an increased risk of trauma, play contributory roles. The treatment of alcoholic bone disease should be aimed towards increasing bone formation and decreasing bone degradation. In this sense, vitamin D and calcium supplementation, together with biphosphonates are essential, but alcohol abstinence and nutritional improvement are equally important. In this review we study the pathogenesis of bone changes in alcoholic liver disease and discuss potential therapies.

全冠与贴面在不同的组织保留情况、牙周组织破坏、美学效果方面提供了不同的治疗策略和效果。哪种情况下使用全冠或是贴面．并不总是那么明确．但在最近20年．粘结技术、保守疗法和美学要求这三方面都增加了瓷贴面在临床修复的应用。贴面和全冠的联合使用也应运而生．特别是前牙区。美学整合这两种修复方法后一些问题也相应产生，这与它们固有的机械性能和视觉特性有关。仅有少数诊所和加工厂可以成功地应用这种联合方法。本文作者通过一个需要这种方法修复的病例展示了整个治疗过程和其中的难点。
