This study discusses the development of a mathematical model that is capable ofpredicting the drop size mean diameter of the spray generated by a pressure swirl atomizer,considering the effects of the liquid’s viscosity and the geometrical parameters of this typeof injector, as well as the angle of incidence of the inlet channels (j and b) and atomizationparameters (k, 8), obtained from hyperbolic relations. Additionally, this model investigatesthe phenomena of rupture and stability that are observed in the conical liquid film, in whichthe importance of a new geometrical parameter of atomization, “8”, which immediately influences the drop size diameter of the spray, should be highlighted. The results that are obtainedusing this model are compared with analytical results of Couto, Wang and Lefebvre, Jasuja,radcliffe and Lefebvre, experimental results and numerics (Hollow cone atomization model),using the Ansys Fluent software for the validation and consistency of the model proposed in rivas (2015). This model yields good approximations as compared to that yielded using otheralternative mathematical models, demonstrating that the new atomization geometric parameter“8” is an “adjustment” factor that exhibits considerable significance while designing pressureswirl atomizers according to the required SMD. Furthermore, this model is easy to use, withreliable results, and has the advantage of saving computational time.

Interpenetrating polymers supported on microporous polypropylene membranes for the transport of chromium ions

Modifying polypropylene membranes with interpenetrating polymer networks(IPNs) through the incorporation of poly(glycidyl methacrylate-N-methyl-D-glucamine)(P(GMA-NMG)) was performed by in situ synthesis via radical polymerization. The surface of the polypropylene membrane was activated by hydrophilic grafted polyelectrolyte, and then, pressure injection was used for the impregnation of the reactive solution in the *** types of pore-filled membranes were synthesized, chelating interpenetrating homopolymer networks of P(GMA-NMG), and chelating-ion exchange interpenetrating polymer networks(e.g., P(GMA-NMG)/P(AA),P(GMA-NMG)/P(AMPSA), and P(GMA-NMG)/P(Cl VBTA)). After their synthesis, the modified polypropylene membranes were characterized using techniques such as the electrokinetic potential, SEM, FT-Ir, and Donnan dialysis to corroborate the chromium ion transport. The P(GMA-NMG) and complex network membranes exhibited a hydrophilic character with a water-uptake capacity between 20% and 35% and a percentage of modification between 4.0% and 7.0% in comparison with the behavior of the unmodified polypropylene *** chromium ions were efficiently transported from the food chamber at p H 9.0 when the 65.2%MTA1 P(Cl VBTA) homopolymer IPN membrane and 48.5% MTAG P(GMA-NMG)/P(Cl VBTA) IPN membrane were used. Similarly, hexavalent chromium ions were removed from the food chamber at pH 3.0 when MTAG(63.30%) and MTA1(35.68%) were used in 1 mol·L^(-1)Na Cl solution as the extraction reagent.

Effect of Organo-Modified Nanosepiolite on Fire Behaviors and Mechanical Performance of Polypropylene Composites

The objective of the study was to investigate the effect of the organo-modified nanosepiolite(ONSep)on improving the fire safety of polypropylene(PP).The composites based on PP,flame retardant master batch(MB-Fr,25 wt%PP+50 wt%decabromodiphenyl ether(DBDPE)+25%antimony trioxide(ATO))and ONSep were prepared via melt *** results of the limiting oxygen index(LOI)and vertical burning rating(UL-94)test indicated that PP/40 wt%MB composites had no rating with seriously dripping phenomenon,while the LOI value was only ***,as 4 wt%ONSep was added in PP/40 wt%MB composites,the composites achieved UL94 V-0 rating and the LOI value was *** comparison,PP/50 wt%MB composites could not reach the V-0 rating *** TGA results revealed that the addition of ONSep enhanced the thermal stability of the PP/MB-Fr *** cone calorimeter results indicated that the heat release rate,average mass loss rate,smoke production rate and smoke temperature of the PP/40 wt%MB-Fr/4 wt%ONSep composites decreased in comparison with those of PP/40 wt%MB-Fr ***,the Young modulus and impact strength were also much better improved with the increase of ONSep ***,the synergistic flame retardancy of ONSep in PP/MB-Fr matrix significantly containing a halogen based flame retardant(DBDPE)significantly improved the fire safety and mechanical properties of the composites,and allowed to decrease the total amount of brominated fire retardants.

A Neuro-Fuzzy Approach for Automatic Detection of Breast Cancer Based on raman Spectroscopy

The harmful presence of cancerous cells in the feminine breast brings as a result, breast cancer, illness that has spread widely lately, not only in Mexico, but in other parts of the planet. In this paper, we present a method of automatic breast cancer classification, in which a raman signal is classified as coming from a biopsy of healthy tissue (class ? 1 ) or biopsy of diseased tissue (class ? 2 ); to do so, we created patterns from raman spectra accurately measuring each raman peak to provide naturally reduced data to a classifier; we used ANFIS (adaptative neuro-fuzzy inference system) classifier and high rates of correct classification were obtained. This provides the specialists with important clinical tools for a rapid and efficient automatic detection of breast cancer. We consider that our approach can be applicable to other kinds of cancer, e. g., lung, prostate, and stomach.

Background: This document includes recommendations and guidelines issued by a group of Mexican researchers and specialists gathered in the First National Colloquium for the Diagnosis and Management of Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML) by initiative of Instituto Nacional de Cancerología and with the support of the Leukaemia Department of the MD Anderson Cancer Center. Mexico lacks of updated information taken from its own reality on the diagnosis and treatment of CML and other haematological disorders;besides, there are no national guidelines. Aim: To publish a consensus document with guidelines for the management of CML adjusted to the national environment and overall characteristics. Method: The participants answered a DELPHI questionnaire about the overall aspects of the disease, aiming to target controversial topics, discuss them in the colloquium, and to agree on the best ones. After those meetings, a final document was drawn up. results: The group presents recommendations for definition, diagnosis, prognosis, monitoring, and treatment of CML in Mexico. Conclusions: Having consensus guidelines for the clinical management of CML in our country will enable the consensual practice of Mexican specialists regarding the clinical approach to CML, as well as optimize the resources which allow the rational planning of the medical care strategies.
