Within the framework of building energy assessment,this article proposes to use a derivative based sensitivity analysis of heat transfer models in a building ***,global and local,estimators are obtained at low computational cost,to evaluate the influence of the parameters on the model *** of these estimators values allows to reduce the number of model unknown parameters by excluding non-significant parameters.A comparison with variance and regression-based methods is carried out and the results highlight the satisfactory accuracy of the continuous-based ***,for the carried investigations the approach is 100 times faster compared to the variance-based methods.A case study applies the method to a real-world building *** sensitivity of the thermal loads to local or global variations of the wall thermal properties is ***,a case study of wall with window is analyzed.

Challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson’s disease:Parkinson’s disease(PD)is an increasingly prevalent neurodegenerative disease,at first sight primarily characterized by motor symptoms,although non-motor symptoms also constitute a major part of the overall ***,this disease cannot be diagnosed reliably until a large part of the vulnerable dopaminergic neurons has been irretrievably lost,and the disease progresses *** biological criteria for PD have been proposed recently and might eventually improve early diagnosis,but they require further validation,and their use will initially be restricted to a research environment(Darweesh et al.,2024).

There is a need to develop interventions to slow or reverse the degeneration of dopamine neurons in Parkinson’s disease after *** that preclinical and clinical studies suggest benefits of dietary n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids,such as docosahexaenoic acid,and exercise in Parkinson’s disease,we investigated whether both could synergistically interact to induce recovery of the dopaminergic ***,mice received a unilateral stereotactic injection of 6-hydroxydopamine into the striatum to establish an animal model of nigrostriatal *** weeks after lesion,animals were fed a docosahexaenoic acid-enriched or a control diet for the next 8 *** this period,the animals had access to a running wheel,which they could use or *** acid treatment,voluntary exercise,or the combination of both had no effect on(i)distance traveled in the open field test,(ii)the percentage of contraversive rotations in the apomorphine-induction test or(iii)the number of tyrosine-hydroxylase-positive cells in the substantia nigra pars ***,the docosahexaenoic acid diet increased the number of tyrosine-hydroxylase-positive terminals and induced a rise in dopamine concentrations in the lesioned *** to docosahexaenoic acid treatment or exercise alone,the combination of docosahexaenoic acid and exercise(i)improved forelimb balance in the stepping test,(ii)decreased the striatal DOPAC/dopamine ratio and(iii)led to increased dopamine transporter levels in the lesioned *** present results suggest that the combination of exercise and docosahexaenoic acid may act synergistically in the striatum of mice with a unilateral lesion of the dopaminergic system and provide support for clinical trials combining nutrition and physical exercise in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.

While the incidence of gastric cancer has decreased worldwide in recent decades,the incidence of signetring cell carcinoma(SRCC) is rising. SRCC has a specific epidemiology and oncogenesis and has two forms: early gastric cancer,which can be resected endoscopically in some cases and which has a better outcome than non-SRCC,and advanced gastric cancer,which is generally thought to have a worse prognosis and lower chemosensitivity than non-SRCC. However,the prognosis of SRCC and its chemosensitivity with specific regimens are still controversial as SRCC is not specifically identified in most studies and its poor prognosis may be due to its more advanced stage. It therefore remains unclear if a specific therapeutic strategy is justified,as the benefit of perioperative chemotherapy and the value of taxanebased chemotherapy are unclear. In this review we analyze recent data on the epidemiology,oncogenesis,prognosis and specific therapeutic strategies in both early and advanced SRCC of the stomach and in hereditary diffuse gastric cancer.

The recent discovery of nickel oxide superconductors have highlighted the importance of first-principles simulations forunderstanding the formation of the bound electrons at the core of superconductivity. Nevertheless, superconductivity in oxides isoften ascribed to strong electronic correlation effects that density functional theory (DFT) cannot properly take into account,thereby disqualifying this technique. Being isostructural to nickel oxides, Sr_(1-x)K_(x)BiO_(3) superconductors form an ideal testbed forunveiling the lowest theory level needed to model complex superconductors and the underlying pairing mechanism yieldingsuperconductivity. Here I show that parameter-free DFT simulations capture all the experimental features and related quantities of Sr_(1-x)K_(x)BiO_(3) superconductors, encompassing the prediction of an insulating to metal phase transition upon increasing the K dopingcontent and of an electron-phonon coupling constant of 1.22 in sharp agreement with the experimental value of 1.3 ± 0.2. Theproximity of a disproportionated phase is further demonstrated to be a prerequisite for superconductivity in bismuthates.

This paper explores related aspects to post-Pareto analysis arising from the multicriteria optimization *** consists of two main *** the first one,we give first-order necessary optimality conditions for a semi-vectorial bi-level optimization problem:the upper level is a scalar optimization problem to be solved by the leader,and the lower level is a multi-objective optimization problem to be solved by several followers acting in a cooperative way(greatest coalition multi-players game).For the lower level,we deal with weakly or properly Pareto(efficient)solutions and we consider the so-called optimistic problem,*** followers choose amongst Pareto solutions one which is the most favourable for the *** order to handle reallife applications,in the second part of the paper,we consider the case where each follower objective is expressed in a quadratic *** this setting,we give explicit first-order necessary optimality ***,some computational results are given to illustrate the paper.

A new simple piecewise linear map of the plane is presented and analyzed, then a detailed study of its dynamical behaviour is described, along with some other dynamical phenomena, especially fixed points and their stability, observation of a new chaotic attractors obtained via border collision bifurcation. An important resuk about coexisting chaotic attractors is also numerically studied and discussed.

The H@braud-Lequeux model is a model describing the flow of soft glassy material in a simple shear flow configuration. It is given by a kinetic/Fokker-Planck-type equation whose coefficients depend on the shear rate of the experiment. In this paper we want to study what happens to the stationary solutions of this model when the shear rate is asymptotically large. In order to do that, we expand the solution of the equation using singular perturbation tools. In the end, we rigorously prove the estimate of Hebraud and Lequeux that the material asymptotically behaves as a Newtonian fluid.

Terrain reversal effect(TRE)causes reversed 3D shape perception in satellite images and shaded relief maps(SRMs),and introduces difficulties in identifying landforms such as valleys and *** this paper,in a controlled laboratory experiment,we compare how well 27 participants could identify valleys and ridges over 33 locations using SRMs,color satellite images and grayscale satellite *** main depth cue is shadow both in vertical-view images and ***,the presence of texture and color in images also affect 3D shape *** our participants experience the illusion strongly:with the SRMs,it is very severe(2%accuracy),with grayscale images low but considerably better than SRMs(17.6%accuracy),and slightly worse with color imagery(15.3%accuracy).These differences between SRMs and imagery suggest that the participants who are able to bypass the illusion consciously or subconsciously interpret the photographic *** support this observation further with a cue-strength ***,we provide exploratory analyses of the effects of expertise,global convexity bias,and bistable *** original empirical observations serve towards a better understanding of this visual illusion,and contribute towards nuanced and appropriate solutions to correcting for TRE differently for satellite images and SRMs.

While the isotopic variations of barium were reported for the first time fourty years ago, the number of studies on barium isotopes significantly increased only after 2010. Barium isotope anomalies in meteorites have been successfully used to provide constraints about the origin of presolar Si C grains. In carbonaceous chondrites Ba isotope anomalies are indicative of the heterogeneity of the early solar system, possibly resulting from of a later injection of material after the cooling of solar system. Barium isotope fractionation in the same carbonaceous chondrites suggests that a strong magnetic field was present in the innermost part of the early solar system. Barium mass-dependent isotope fractionation has also been detected throughout Earth surface materials. While igneous rocks show limited Ba isotopic variations, relatively large isotopic variations are observed amongst and within soils, rivers, and biological materials. Indeed, plants seem to fractionate Ba isotopes during Ba uptake from soil ***, Ba isotope signatures have the potential to provide clues on the biological cycling of Ba at the Earth surface. In seawater, Ba isotopic variations have been mapped out, and are mainly related to barite precipitation, which is in turn related to organic matter remineralization in the water *** makes Ba isotopes a potentially powerful tool to reconstruct past ocean productivity, although constraints are still lacking regarding the inputs of dissolved Ba to the oceans by rivers or hydrothermalism.
