Objective Hypertriglyceridemic waist(HW),hypertriglyceridemic waist-to-height ratio(HWHtR),and waist-to-hip ratio(WHR)have been shown to be indicators of cardiometabolic risk ***,it is not clear which indicator is more suitable for children and *** aimed to investigate the relationship between HW,HWHtR,WHR,and cardiovascular risk factors clustering to determine the best screening tools for cardiometabolic risk in children and *** This was a national cross-sectional *** and biochemical variables were assessed in approximately 70,000 participants aged 6–18 years from seven provinces in ***,physical activity,dietary intake,and family history of chronic diseases were obtained through ***,χ2 and logistic regression analysis was *** A significant sex difference was observed for HWHtR and WHR,but not for HW *** risk of cardiometabolic health risk factor clustering with HW phenotype or the HWHtR phenotype was significantly higher than that with the non-HW or non-HWHtR phenotypes among children and adolescents(HW:OR=12.22,95%CI:9.54-15.67;HWHtR:OR=9.70,95%CI:6.93-13.58).Compared with the HW and HWHtR phenotypes,the association between risk of cardiometabolic health risk factors(CHRF)clustering and high WHR was much weaker and not significant(WHR:OR=1.14,95%CI:0.97-1.34).Conclusion Compared with HWHtR and WHR,the HW phenotype is a more convenient indicator with higher applicability to screen children and adolescents for cardiovascular risk factors.

Relationship between abdominal adiposity, cardiovascular fitness, and biomarkers of cardiovascular risk in British adolescents

Background:Puberty is a critical time in the development of overweight and *** aim of this study was to examine relationships between measures of adiposity,cardiovascular fitness,and biomarkers of cardiovascular disease risk in ***:In a cross-sectional study design,129 girls and 95 boys aged 12.9-14.4 years at various stages of puberty were included,along with their mothers(n=217)and fathers(n=207).Anthropometric assessments of adiposity were made,along with cardiovascular physical fitness,using the 20-m shuttle run test,and biomarkers associated with cardiovascular risk,including glucose,insulin,triglyceride,fibrinogen,and C-reactive protein(CRP)***:Waist-to-height ratio values were similar in boys and girls and correlated positively with diastolic blood pressure,insulin,triglyceride,fibrinogen,and CRP concentrations,and inversely with cardiovascular fitness *** thickness measurements were higher in ***-molecular-weight adiponectin concentrations were lower in boys than girls,particularly in late puberty,and CRP levels were *** fitness,maternal body mass index(BMI),and paternal BMI contributed independently to the variance in waist measurements in girls and ***,triceps skinfold thickness,and weight-to-height ratio,but not parental BMI,contributed independently to the variance in cardiovascular ***:There is a relationship between measures of adolescent adiposity and parental weight that involves factors other than cardiovascular *** boys have relatively more abdominal fat than girls and a tendency to have a proinflammatory profile of *** observations suggest that family and social environmental interventions are best undertaken earlier in childhood,particularly among boys.

目的通过深度神经网络(deep neural network, DNN)分类模型揭示高里程跑者(high-mileage runner, HMR)和低里程跑者(low-mileage runner, LMR)跑步步态模式差异,并探讨逐层相关性传播(layer-wise relevance propagation, LRP)技术解释DNN分类器模型的决策有效性。方法通过DNN对HMR和LMR总计1 200组跑步步态特征数据进行训练分类识别,采用LRP计算相关变量在不同步态阶段的相关性得分(relevance score, Rs),提取高相关变量对步态模式差异进行解释性分析。结果 DNN对HMR和LMR的跑步步态模式特征分类精度达到91.25%。LRP计算结果显示支撑前期(1%~47%)各变量的成功分类贡献率高于支撑后期(48%~100%)。踝关节相关轨迹变量Rs的贡献率总和达到43.10%,膝、髋关节贡献率分别为37.07%、19.83%。结论膝、踝关节相关生物力学参数对识别HMR和LMR步态特征的贡献程度最高。跑步支撑早期可能包含更多步态模式信息,能够提升步态模式识别的有效性和敏感性。LRP实现了对模型预测结果的可行性解释,从而为分析步态模式提供了更有趣的见解和更有效的信息。

Food for Thought: Have We Been Giving the Wrong Dietary Advice?

Background: since 1984 UK citizens have been advised to reduce total dietary fat intake to 30% of total energy and saturated fat intake to 10%. The National Institute of Clinical Excellence [NICE] suggests a further benefit for Coronary Heart Disease [CHD] prevention by reducing saturated fat [sFA] intake to 6% - 7% of total energy and that 30,000 lives could be saved by replacing sFAs with Polyunsaturated fats [PUFAs]. Methods: 20 volumes of the seven Countries study, the seminal work behind the 1984 nutritional guidelines, were assessed. The evidence upon which the NICE guidance was based was reviewed. Nutritional facts about fat and the UK intake of fat are presented and the impact of macronutrient confusion on public health dietary advice is discussed. Findings: The seven Countries study classified processed foods, primarily carbohydrates, as saturated fats. The UK government and NICE do the same, listing biscuits, cakes, pastries and savoury snacks as saturated fats. Processed foods should be the target of public health advice but not natural fats, in which the UK diet is deficient. With reference to the macro and micro nutrient composition of meat, fish, eggs, and dairy foods the article demonstrates that dietary trials cannot change one type of fat for another in a controlled study. Interpretation: The evidence suggests that processed food is strongly associated with the increase in obesity, diabetes, CHD, and other modern illness in our society. The macro and micro nutrients found in meat, fish, eggs and dairy products, are vital for human health and consumption of these nutritious foods should be encouraged.

Loss to specialized Cardiology Follow-Up in Adults Living with Congenital Heart Disease

Background:Much has been written about the loss to follow-up in the transition between pediatric and adult Congenital Heart Disease(CHD)care *** less is understood about the loss to follow-up(LTF)after a successful *** is critical too,as patients lost to specialised care are more likely to experience mor-bidity and premature ***:To understand the prevalence and reasons for loss to follow-up(LTF)at a large Australian Adult Congenital Heart Disease(ACHD)***:Patients with moderate or highly complex CHD and gaps in care of>3 years(deﬁned as LTF)were identiﬁed from a comprehensive ACHD *** telephone interviews examined current care and barriers to clinic ***:Overall,407(22%)of ACHD patients(n=1842)were *** mean age at LTF was 31(sD 11.5)years and 54%were male;311(76%)were *** to adults seen regularly,lost patients were younger,with a greater socio-economic disadvantage,and had less complex CHD(ps(14%).The top 3 responses for care absences were“feeling well”(61%),losing track of time(36%),and not needing fol-low-up care(25%).Conclusions:A large proportion of the ACHD population becomes lost to specialised cardiac care,even after a successful *** Australian study reports younger age,moderate complexity defects,and socio-economic disadvantage as predictive of loss to *** study highlights the need for novel approaches to patient-centered service delivery even beyond the age of transition and resources to maintain patient engagement within the ACHD service.

Impact of Varying Blower Opening Degrees on Indoor Environment and Thermal Comfort

At present,air handling units are usually used indoors to improve the indoor environment ***,while introducing fresh air to improve air quality,air velocity has a certain impact on the occupants’thermal ***,it is necessary to explore the optimization of air-fluid-body interaction *** this study,the indoor air flow was changed by changing the opening and closing degree of the blower,and the thermal manikin is introduced to objectively evaluate the human thermal comfort under different air *** main experimental results show that the air change rate increases with the increase of the opening and closing degree of the blower considering an ACH(air changes per hour)range between 3.8 and *** a better prediction,a linear correlation with a coefficient of 0.995 is *** the blower’s opening is adjusted to 20%,25%,30%,35%,and 40%,the air velocity sensor positioned directly beneath the air inlet records average velocities of 0.19,0.20,0.21,0.28,and 0.34 m/s over four hours,*** on thermal comfort and the average sensation experienced by individuals indicate an initial increase followed by a decline when the blower’s operation begins,with optimal conditions achieved at a 35%*** findings offer valuable insights for future indoor air ventilation and heat transfer design strategies.

Cu-Based Materials for Enhanced C_(2+) Product selectivity in Photo-/Electro-Catalytic CO_(2) Reduction: Challenges and Prospects

Carbon dioxide conversion into valuable products using photocatalysis and electrocatalysis is an effective approach to mitigate global environmental issues and the energy shortages. Among the materials utilized for catalytic reduction of CO_(2), Cu-based materials are highly advantageous owing to their widespread availability, cost-effectiveness, and environmental sustainability. Furthermore, Cu-based materials demonstrate interesting abilities in the adsorption and activation of carbon dioxide, allowing the formation of C_(2+) compounds through C–C coupling process. Herein, the basic principles of photocatalytic CO_(2) reduction reactions(PCO_(2)RR) and electrocatalytic CO_(2) reduction reaction(ECO_(2)RR) and the pathways for the generation C_(2+) products are introduced. This review categorizes Cu-based materials into different groups including Cu metal, Cu oxides, Cu alloys, and Cu sACs, Cu heterojunctions based on their catalytic applications. The relationship between the Cu surfaces and their efficiency in both PCO_(2)RR and ECO_(2)RR is emphasized. Through a review of recent studies on PCO_(2)RR and ECO_(2)RR using Cu-based catalysts, the focus is on understanding the underlying reasons for the enhanced selectivity toward C_(2+) products. Finally, the opportunities and challenges associated with Cu-based materials in the CO_(2) catalytic reduction applications are presented, along with research directions that can guide for the design of highly active and selective Cu-based materials for CO_(2) reduction processes in the future.
