Extraction Properties of Calix[4]arenes towards Sulphonated dyes

Extraction of sulphonated dyes through supramolecular interaction with calix[4]arene derivatives is being presented here. The selectivity of calixarene derivatives namely piperidine derivative of calix[4]arene (calix-1), 1-methyl piperazine derivative of calix[4]arene (calix-2), and di-methyl amine derivative of calix[4]arene (calix-3) were evaluated initially against reactive red 2 (RR-2), acid black (AB), reactive blue 19 (B-19) and synthetic dye (d-2) by liquid-liquid extraction experiment. The results showed that the above three calixarenes possess excellent complexation abilities toward the selected dyes. The stoichiometric ratio for the calixarene derivatives and dyes was estimated through Job’s plot, whereas Hildebrand-Benesi equation was used to calculate formation constant (Ks) and molar absorptivity (Δε) of complexes. The binding association (Ka) and dissociation (Kd) constants were calculated by Scatchard plot additionally to further support the complexation data obtained from Hildebrand-Benesi equation. Conversely association constants from, both Hildebrand-Benesi equation and Scatchard plot i.e. Ks and Ka favor strong binding interaction between calix-1: d-2, calix-2: B-19, and calix-3: AB complexes. Thus present study adeptly supports the complexation of calixarene derivatives for sulfonated dyes.

Laptop computers are used more often than desktop computers, especially among graduate students. Many common laptop habits can have severe physiological effects on the user ranging from eye strain, poor posture, upper extremity pain, and overuse injuries. Thus, it is important to educate students on the best ergonomic position to use laptops. This study investigates the efficacy of a laptop ergonomic education session and its effects on graduate students’ knowledge and behaviors regarding proper laptop use. A convenience sample of control and experimental groups was used and consisted of 83 occupational therapy (OT), 63 physical therapy (PT), and 26 nurse anesthesia (NA) graduate students. The sample size was 172, with 94 graduate students in the control group and 78 graduate students in the experimental. All study participants completed an initial ergonomics questionnaire. The experimental group was given an ergonomics education session following the questionnaire. Approximately 4 weeks after both groups completed the initial questionnaire;a follow up questionnaire was administered. Results showed that subjects demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in ergonomics knowledge after they completed the ergonomic educational session. Some participants reported making adaptations to laptop positioning and equipment use following the educational session. Thus, participating in ergonomic education can positively influence awareness of body mechanics relative to laptop workstation design.

The mineralogy and petrography of natural graphite in saba Boru of Ethiopia indicate that there exists flake graphite with a slightly oval structured fine size according to our study on thin and polished ***,for estimating the carbon content in graphite,the ASTM-C561,the test method for ash in a graphite sample,was *** characterizing graphite,x-ray diffraction,x-ray fluorescence,inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy,and scanning electron microscopy were also *** analysis of ore samples determined that the average compositions are 63.35%SiO2,15.45%Al2O3,2.36%Fe2O3,2.07%K2O,less than1%others,and loss-on-ignition(LOI)in the range of^4.74%–37.42%.The total carbon content of graphitic ore ranged from 4.11%to 33.14%.Importantly,when graphite is concentrated through floatation,its average purity and recovery are 92.97%and 90.82%,***,once the graphite concentrates are treated with hydrofluoric acid,the average value attains a high grade of 96.48%***,the average ash content is 81.93%(pre-flotation)and 3.1%(post-flotation),***,after beneficiation,a silica is identified as a major gangue(85.88%),usable as a raw material for other purposes such as ***,these graphite-bearing rocks seem to be worth exploring for commercialization opportunities.

We evaluated novel Chlamydial vaccines, consisting of major outer membrane protein (MOMP) alone or in combination with polymorphic membrane proteins d (Pmpd) and G (PmpG) using a C57BL/6 mouse model. Native MOMP (nMOMP) isolated from C. muridarum elementary bodies (EBs) and recombinant Pmpd and PmpG proteins were adjuvanted with Monophosphoryl lipid A (MPLA), with either lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) or the cationic lipid dimethyldioctadecylammonium bromide (ddA). Antibody titers to C. muridarum nMOMP, and EBs were evaluated by ELISA, and T-cell responses were analyzed by intracellular cytokine staining (ICS). Protection from challenge was determined by qPCR. Vaccine immunized mice showed significantly higher antibody titers to nMOMP (P d C. muridarum EBs (P d to the adjuvant alone group. Antibody titers in vaccine groups with Monophosphoryl lipid A (MPLA) + LNP were higher as compared to the MPLA + ddA group (P d p73 + Pmpd p82 + MPLA + ddA) vs (Cm nMOMP + PmpG + Pmpd p73 + Pmpd p82 + MPLA + LNP) for both C. muridarum EBs and PmpG. ICS analysis showed more robust Cd4 + T-cell responses (IFN-γ/IL-2/TNF-a) in the ddA and LNP groups compared to the adjuvant alone group. The ddA + MPLA gave robust Th17 responses in comparison to MPLA and LNP group. Mice immunized with Chlamydia antigens also showed protection from C. muridarum challenge, by reduction in bacterial shedding for all groups (P d to shedding from the adjuvant control. Both vaccine formulations generated robust immunological responses, and both were protective by reducing bacterial shedding after challenge. This data indicates equal protection can be achieved without the induction of Th17 responses.
