Background: Evidence indicating the limited amount of hands-on experience in the current era of medical training has raised concern regarding students’ development and potential deficiencies in the performance of basic procedural skills. Studies have demonstrated the value of surgical workshops for medical students;however evaluation of improved student performance during future clerkships or residencies has yet to be assessed. We initiated and evaluated a resident-led surgical skills workshop for students through the Department of Dermatology. Methods: Participants received instructions on surgical tools/techniques followed by hands-on practice. Anonymous surveys administered to 24 medical and physician assistant students assessed their skill level, confidence level, and likelihood of using surgical skills in future practice preand post-workshop using a 1 - 5 Likert scale. Overall experience was also assessed. Non-parametric bivariate tests were used for analysis to account for non-normal distribution of the data. Results: There was a statistically significant change in skill (p = 0.0001) and confidence (p = 0.0001) level post workshop. There was no significant difference in utility. There were also no statistically significant differences based on the year of medical student training, medical student versus physician assistant student responses, or number of procedures performed prior to the workshop. Estimated cost per participant was $5.65. Conclusions: Research supports our finding that workshop learning experiences increase students’ ability to perform common procedural skills, their confidence, and desire to practice such skills. Further studies are necessary to determine the impact of these skills workshops on long-term clinical performance in future clerkships and residencies.

A grand challenge facing society is climate change caused mainly by rising CO_(2) concentration in Earth’s *** plants are linchpins in global carbon cycling,with a unique capability of capturing CO_(2) via photosynthesis and translocating captured carbon to stems,roots,and soils for long-term ***,many researchers postulate that existing land plants cannot meet the ambitious requirement for CO_(2) removal to mitigate climate change in the future due to low photosynthetic efficiency,limited carbon allocation for long-term storage,and low suitability for the *** address these limitations,there is an urgent need for genetic improvement of existing plants or construction of novel plant systems through biosystems design(or biodesign).Here,we summarize validated biological parts(e.g.,protein-encoding genes and noncoding RNAs)for biological engineering of carbon dioxide removal(CDR)traits in terrestrial plants to accelerate land-based decarbonization in bioenergy plantations and agricultural settings and promote a vibrant ***,we first summarize the framework of plant-based CDR(e.g.,CO_(2) capture,translocation,storage,and conversion to value-added products).Then,we highlight some representative biological parts,with experimental evidence,in this ***,we discuss challenges and strategies for the identification and curation of biological parts for CDR engineering in plants.

目的　探索早期预防维生素K缺乏性出血的有效途径。方法　通过孕妇口服维生素K1,观察能否改善其新生儿的维生素K营养状况。结果　对照组新生儿骨钙蛋白未羧化率高于维生素K组 (6 6 6 6 %± 18 2 0 %和 13 41%± 11 96 % ,P <0 ,0 0 1)。对照组新生儿PIVKA -Ⅱ的阳性率为 2 6 45 % ,而维生素K组PIVKA -Ⅱ阳性率降至 0 % (P <0 0 0 1)。结论让孕妇在分娩后期服用维生素K1可使其新生儿的维生素K营养状况得以改善 ,孕妇口服维生素K1是早期预防维生素K缺乏性出血的新途径。

Evolutionary diversity can be driven by the interaction of plants with different environments. Molecular bases involved in ecological adaptations to abiotic constraints can be explored using genomic tools. Legumes are major crops worldwide and soil salinity is a main stress affecting yield in these plants. We analyzed in the Medicago truncatula legume the root transcriptome of two genotypes having contrasting responses to salt stress： TN1.11, sampled in a salty Tunisian soil, and the reference Jemalong A17 genotype. TN1.11 plants show increased root growth under salt stress as well as a differential accumulation of sodium ions when compared to A17. Transcriptomic analysis revealed specific gene clusters preferentially regulated by salt in root apices of TN1.11, notably those related to the auxin pathway and to changes in histone variant isoforms. Many genes encoding transcription factors （TFs） were also differentially regulated between the two genotypes in response to salt. Among those selected for functional studies, overexpression in roots of the A17 ge- notype of the bHLH-type TF most differentially regulated between genotypes improved significantly root growth under salt stress. Despite the global complexity of the differential transcriptional responses, we propose that an increase in this bHLH TF expression may be linked to the adaptation of M. truncatula to saline soil environments.

AIMTo describe factors associated with treatment failure and frequency of resistance-associated substitutions （RAS）.METHODSHuman immunodefciency virus （HIV）/hepatitis C virus （HCV） coinfected patients starting a first direct-acting antiviral （DAA） regimen before February 2016 and included in the French ANRS CO13 HEPAVIH cohort were eligible. Failure was defned as：（1） non-response [HCV-RNA remained detectable during treatment, at end of treatment （EOT）]; and （2） relapse （HCV-RNA suppressed at EOT but detectable thereafter）. Sequencing analysis was performed to describe prevalence of drug class-specifc RAS. Factors associated with failure were determined using logistic regression *** 559 patients, 77% had suppressed plasmaHIV-RNA 〈 50 copies/mL at DAA treatment initiation41% were cirrhotic, and 68% were HCV treatmentexperienced. Virological treatment failures occurred in22 patients and were mainly relapses （17, 77%） thenundefined failures （3, 14%） and non-responses （29%）. Mean treatment duration was 16 wk overall. Posttreatment NS3, NS5A or NS5B RAS were detected in10/14 patients with samples available for sequencinganalysis. After adjustment for age, sex, ribavirin useHCV genotype and treatment duration, low platelecount was the only factor signifcantly associated with ahigher risk of failure （OR： 6.5; 95%CI： 1.8-22.6）. CONCLUSIONOnly 3.9% HIV-HCV coinfected patients failed DAAregimens and RAS were found in 70% of those failingLow platelet count was independently associated withvirological failure.
