High temperature oxidation behavior of the bond coat layer is a critical factor that controls the failure mechanism of thermal barrier coatings（TBCs）.Previous work reveald that TBCs with cryomilled NiCrAlY bond coats exhibited an improved oxidation behavior compared to equivalent TBCs with conventional bond *** cryomilled NiCrAlY bond coats contributed to a slower growth rate of thermally grown oxides（TGO） with a final thinner thickness and enhanced homogeneity in TGO *** better understand the improved oxidation behavior,a mechanistic investigation based on diffusion theory and quantum mechanics is performed to elucidate the role of aluminum diffusion in the oxidation behavior and how the microstructural features of the cryomilled NiCrAlY bond coats,i e,the creation of a thermally stable,uniform distribution of ultrafine Al-rich oxide dispersoids,affect the diffusion kinetics of Al and the migration of free *** is revealed that these Al-rich oxide dispersoids result in a uniform diffusion of Al and slow migration of free electrons within the NiCrAlY bond coat,consequently leading to the improved oxidation behavior.

The sizes of Astyanax mexicanus blind cavefish populations of North-East Mexico are demographic parameters of great importance for investigating a variety of ecological,evolutionary,and conservation ***,few estimates have been *** these mobile animals living in an environment difficult to explore as a whole,methods based on capture-mark-recapture are appropriate,but their feasibility and interpretation of results depend on several assumptions that must be carefully ***,we provide evidence that minimally invasive genetic identification from captures at different time intervals(three days and three years)can give insights into cavefish population size dynamics as well as other important demographic parameters of *** also provide tools to calibrate sampling and genotyping efforts necessary to reach a given level of *** results suggest that the El Pachón cave population is currently very small,of an order of magnitude of a few hundreds of individuals,and is distributed in a relatively isolated *** probable decline in population size in the El Pachón cave since the last census in 1971 raises serious conservation issues.

After tobacco use, chronic hepatitis B(CHB) viral infections are the most important cause of cancer globally in that 1 out of 3 individuals have been infected with the hepatitis B virus(HBV). Though infection rates are low(reviews the magnitude of hepatitis B(HBV) burden among Asian Americans and the progress being made to mitigate this burden, primarily through localized, communitybased efforts to increase screening and vaccination among Asian American children, adolescents, and adults. This review brings to light that despite the numerous community-based screening efforts, a vast majority of Asian Americans have not been screened and that vaccination efforts, particularly for adults, are sub-optimal. Greater efforts to integrate screenings by providers within existing healthcare systems are urged. Evidence-based strategies are offered to implement CDC's three major recommendations to control and prevent hepatitis B through targeted screening and enhanced vaccination efforts.

Neurodegenerative disorders are often associated with cellular dysfunction caused by underlying protein-misfolding signalling. Numerous neuropathologies are diagnosed at late stage symptomatic changes which occur in response to these molecular malfunctions and treatment is often too late or restricted only to the slowing of further cell death. Important new strategies to identify early biomarkers with predictive value to intervene with disease progression at stages where cell dysfunction has not progressed irreversibly is of paramount importance. Thus, the identification of these markers presents an essential opportunity to identify and target disease pathways. This review highlights some important metabolic alterations detected in neurodegeneration caused by misfolded prion protein and discusses common toxicity pathways identified across different neurodegenerative diseases. Thus, having established some commonalities between various degenerative conditions, detectable metabolic changes may be of extreme value as an early diagnostic biomarker in disease.

Environmental management of military activities is of growing global concern by defence forces. As one of the largest landholders in Australia, the Australian Defence Force （ADF） is increasingly concerned with sustainable environmental management. This paper focuses on how the ADF is maintaining effective environmental management, especially in environmentally sensitive marine protected areas. It uses Shoalwater Bay Training Area （SWBTA） as a research example to examine environmental management strategies conducted by the ADF. SWBTA is one of the most significant Defence training areas in Australia, with a large number of single, joint and combined military exercises conducted in the area. With its maritime component contained in the Great Barrier reef Marine Park （GBRMP）, the Great Barrier reef World Heritage Area （GBRWHA）, and abutting Queensland＇s State Marine Parks, it has high protection values. It is therefore vital for the ADF to adopt environmentally responsible management while they are conducting military activities. As to various tools employed to manage environmental performance, the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System （EMS） is widely used by the ADE This paper exanlines military activities and marine environmental management within SWBTA, using the Talisman Saber （TS） exercise series as an example. These are extensive joint exercises conducted by the ADF and the United States defence forces. The paper outlines relevant legislative framework and environmental policies, analyses how the EMS operates in environmental management of military activities, and how military activities comply with these regulations. It discusses the implementation of the ADF EMS, including risk reduction measures, environmental awareness training, consultation and communication with stakeholders. The emergence of mutual knowledge is a major cognitive mechanism for the robustness of complex socio-technical systems. It has been extensively studied from an ethnomethodological point of view and empirically reproduced by multi-agent simulations. Whilst such simulations have been used to design real work settings the underlying theoretical grounding for the process is vague. The aim of this paper is to investigate whether the emergence of mutual knowledge(MK) in a group of colocated individuals can be explained as a percolation phenomenon. The followed methodology consists in coupling agent-based simulation with dynamic networks analysis to study information propagation phenomena: After using an agent-based simulation the authors generated and then analyzed its traces as networks where agents met and exchanged knowledge. Deep analysis of the resulting networks clearly shows that the emergence of MK is comparable to a percolation process. The authors specifically focus on how changes at the microscopic level in the proposed agent based simulator affect percolation and robustness. These results therefore provide theoretical basis for the analysis of social organizations.

According to a generalized magnitude system, the representation of time, space and number relies on a common cognitive mechanism. However, in the context of negative emotional stimuli, temporal durations undergo a subjective overestimation, while numerosity judgments are underestimated. This finding clearly challenged the existence of a generalized magnitude system. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether angry faces biases both temporal and spatial estimates compared to neutral faces in children aged 5 - 6-year-old and 9 - 10-year-old. Children were to judge as short or long either the temporal interval or the distance separating two visual stimuli in a bisection task. Overall, the study suggests that negative emotion with high arousal (angry faces) leads to a distortion of both duration and distance. Such distortion is reported early in development, even before the maturation of time perception.

We read with great interest the study of Ratti et al.(1)aiming to compare robotic,laparoscopic and open hepatectomies in terms of feasibility,safety and oncological adequacy in surgery for biliary tumours(intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma,perihilar cholangiocarcinoma and gallbladder cancer).The authors conducted a retrospective monocentric study focusing on the quality of lymphadenectomy,operative time and postoperative morbidity and mortality up to day *** a weighted propensity score analysis by inverse probability of treatment weighting(IPTW),25 patients operated by robotic approach were compared with 97 patients operated by laparoscopy and 113 by laparotomy.

Management of preoperative biliary drainage (PBD) in patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) is still debated. Obstructive jaundice is associated with a proinflammatory state, impaired immune function and disturbances in coagulation. Patients with jaundice are at high risk to develop renal dysfunction and bacteriobilia. In this context, PBD was traditionally performed before surgery to improve postoperative outcomes.
