Background Although preventable and curable,tuberculosis(TB)still occurs in poor or developing countries,mainly in metropolitan regions of larger *** disease is a serious public health problem,and is directly linked to social *** analyzed temporal trend variations in areas at risk for concomitant TB,and characterized the clinical and epidemiological profiles of cases in a hyperendemic municipality in the Amazon region of *** This ecological study was performed in the municipality of Manaus,in northern *** population comprised cases with concomitant pulmonary and extrapulmonary TB,registered on the Notifiable Diseases Information System(SINAN),between January 1,2009 and december 31,*** risk cluster detection,spatial and spatiotemporal scanning statistical techniques were *** Spatial Variation in Temporal Trends(SVTT)approach was used to detect and infer clusters for significantly different time *** Between 2009 and 2018,873 concomitant TB cases were registered in *** using purely spatial scanning statistics,we identified two risk *** relative risk(RR)of the clusters was 2.21(95%confidence interval[CI]:1.57–2.88;P=0.0031)and 2.03(95%CI:1.58–2.58;P=0.0029).Using space-time scanning,we identified a risk cluster with an RR of 3.57(95%CI:2.84–4.41;P=0.014),between 2017 and *** SVTT analyses,three clusters with spatial variations were detected in the significant temporal trends:SVTT 1(P=0.042),SVTT 2(P=0.046)and SVTT 3(P=0.036).Conclusions In Brazil,several TB-determining factors such as race/color,gender,low educational level and low income overlap in needy urban areas and communities,demonstrating that it is unlikely to reach the goals,agreed and launched with the END TB Strategy within the deadlines of international agreements,if there is no reduction in existing inequities determinants and risk of illness in the country.

Male Breast Cancer-Dosimetry Evaluation in Teletherapy

The rate of male breast cancer has increased in recent years, due to the deficiency of preventive examinations (male mammography). Besides, since male breasts are generally smaller than female breasts, it is essential to monitor the doses received by male breasts, as well as those received by close, healthy and critical organs in order to assess the plan used in this kind of treatment. To do this, the distribution of doses in male breasts was simulated and assessed, based on the procedures adopted in the treatment of female breasts, when submitted to a radiation beam from a linear accelerator. The Alderson Rando phantom was used and the relevant absorbed doses were measured by TLD-100 thermoluminescent dosimeters distributed throughout the volume of interest. The results of the treatment planning were compared with the results obtained by TLDs. A difference of up to 8.5%, in comparison with the planned dose, as well as a 6% relative standard deviation was found.

Electrochemical Remediation of 17α-Ethinylestradiol

Technological development has led to the emergence of new substances with many different purposes generating a new profile of pollutants in waterways. Among these, endocrine disruptors, such as 17EE （17ct-ethinylestradiol）, are of great importance due to their wide application and harmful consequences to the environment, human health and animals. The inefficiency of most water treatment processes in withdrawing such substances poses a global concern for the development of effective and environmentally clean methods. The electrochemical remediation processes appear as a powerful and ＂green＂ alternative for waste removal of organic or inorganic pollutants from complex environments, such as geosphere and hydrosphere. The research focus in this field is mostly related to the optimization of electronic devices with higher （photo） catalytic efficiency, whereas the starting material remains based on metal and carbon conventional electrodes. In the present study, the anodic removal process of 17ct-ethinylestradiol at carbon cardboards was investigated in stationary and hydrodynamic conditions. The influence of pH and applied potential were evaluated, always taking into account the transposition of scale and environmental aspects. Thus, the principle of hormone removal showed to be strictly related to such parameters. It was observed that mild alkaline medium favors the anodic oxidation, whereas neutral and mild acid ones lead to higher adsorption at carbon surface. Also, when the applied potential was higher than 1.25 V, the electrochemical oxidation rate increased, and the adsorption was decreased. Furthermore, the removal efficiency of ! 7EE showed to be lower, the flow rate was higher.

酶在制学工业中的应用已非常广泛，推广至脱脂、脱毛及其它湿加工工序很多制革过程。此外，酶还可用于协助制革固体废弃物的回收利用，避免污染问题。本项研究的主要目的在于，阐明酶制剂在保毛脱毛工序中的应用前景。酶脱毛的技术关键若干这样种原理，即酶能够削弱主要连接毛发的表皮基底层与生皮间的连接作用，削弱毛根与生皮的连接作用，而起到保毛脱毛效果。本项研究中，我们主要对两种可用于制革脱毛的碱性蛋白酶进行了对比，对使用酶脱毛工艺的成革进行，物理性能检测，并对所得废水进行了各项化学性能分析。实验结果表明，相比传统硫化物脱毛工艺而言，酶脱毛浸灰废液中的硫化物含量减少了50％，悬浮固体总量减少了40％。此外，酶脱毛技术还可明显减少因使用硫化钠引起的气味、废水中的硫化物含量等污染问题，且废液中的硫化物还可通过简单的氧化反应转化为硫酸盐，而硫化物浓度远远低于环保规定。

This work constitutes the first contribution for the systematisation of geological heritage knowledge in Portugal, following the international recommendations for the characterisation of geological heritage （IUGS, ProGEO）. The application of the ProGEO methodology has resulted in the creation of fourteen frameworks with international relevance, established by consensus among the Portuguese geological community. The description of each category in this paper is not exhaustive and only the most relevant scientific settings are presented. The following are the three key outcomes of this work： i） At a national level, the most important geosites are identified, indicating where geoconservation efforts should be prioritised based on scientific justification; ii） At a regional level, conditions have been developed to foster dialogue with Spanish colleagues in order to create Iberian frameworks; iii） At an international level, it is now possible to integrate Portuguese geosites into the global inventories promoted by IUGS, UNESCO, and ProGEO.
