Quantum motion of atoms.known as.zero-point vibration was.recently propos.d to explain a long-s.anding dis.repancy between theoretically computed and experimentally meas.red low-temperature plas.ic s.rength of iron and pos.ibly other metals.with high atomic *** finding challenges.the traditional notion that quantum motion of atoms.is.relatively unimportant in s.lids.compris.d of heavy *** we report quantum dynamic s.mulations.of quantum effects.on dis.ocation motion within the exact formalis. of Ring-Polymer Molecular Dynamics.RPMD).To extend the reach of quantum atomis.ic s.mulations.to length and time s.ales.relevant for extended defects.in materials.we implemented RPMD in the open-s.urce code LAMMPs.thus.making the RPMD method widely available to the *** us. our RPMD/LAMMPs.approach for direct calculations.of dis.ocation mobility and its.effects.on the yield s.rength ofα-*** s.mulation res.lts.es.ablis. that quantum effects.are noticeable at temperatures.below 50 K but account for only a modes.(≈13% at T=0 K)overall reduction in the Peierls.barrier,at variance with the factor of two reduction predicted earlier bas.d on the more approximate framework of harmonic trans.tion s.ate *** res.lts.confirm that zero-point vibrations.provide ample additional agitation for atomic motion that increas.s.with decreas.ng temperature,however its.enhancing effect on dis.ocation mobility is.largely offs.t by an increas. in the effective atom s.ze,an effect known as.quantum dis.ers.on that has.not been accounted for in the previous.calculations.

The aging of the population is. currently, a major phenomenon, drawing the attention of a number of inves.igators. The s.gnificant increas. of life expectancies.over the pas. few decades. in addition to s.cial and economic cons.quences. has.lead to a major change in the morbidity and mortality profile of elders. Heart failure （HF） is.a condition in which the heart can not pump enough blood to meet the body＇s.needs. HF is.predominantly a dis.rder of the elderly with rates.increas.ng exponentially. The prevalence of HF approximately doubles.with each decade of life. As.people live longer, the occurrence of HF ris.s. as.well as.other conditions.that complicate its.treatment. Impaired heart function implies.a reduced duration of s.rvival. Fortunately, many factors.that can prevent HF and improve outcome are known and can be applied at any s.age. This.review emphas.zes.the importance of factors.inherent in aging its.lf, focus.ng on heart dis.as., particularly as.a dis.as. of aging, can help critically refine management of this.acute and chronic dis.as., as.well as.fos.er preventive s.rategies.to reduce the incidence of this.common malady.

Uxi (Endopleura uchi) is.a plant from the Brazilian Amazon. It has.many biological activities.that are attributed to its.main active component, bergenin (BG), which has.low water s.lubility. The aim of this.work was.to obtain β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) inclus.on complexes.of uxi us.ng lyophilized cooked rice as.the s.lid s.bs.rate. The proces. was.s.udied us.ng a Box–Behnken des.gn with the s.lution feed rate, molar ratio of β-CD to BG, and rice bed load as.factors. Thes. factors.greatly affected the product bulk dens.ty, angle of repos., water content, and BG content, los., and water s.lubility. The optimum proces. conditions.determined us.ng a des.rability functions.methodology were an extract feed rate of 1 mL/min, a ratio of β-CD to BG of 3:1, and a s.bs.rate load of 100 g. The predicted values.under the optimum conditions.were clos. to the experimental res.lts.of a water content of 5.8%± 0.2%, BG content of 985.7 ± 15.4 μg/g, BG water s.lubility of 2230.2 ± 21.1 μg/mL, and BG los. of 1.2%± 0.1%. Thes. res.lts.confirm that s.outed beds.are an important tool for rapid, one-s.ep preparation of pharmaceutical β-CD inclus.on complexes.in a s.lid form.

The Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation(AMOC)is.a crucial component of the Earth’s.climate s.s.em due to its.fundamental role in heat dis.ribution,carbon and oxygen trans.ort,and the *** climate components.s.ch as.the atmos.here and s.a ice,influence the *** the phys.cal mechanis.s.of thos. interactions.is.paramount to increas.ng knowledge about AMOC’s.*** this.s.udy,the authors.us.d outputs.from the Community Earth s.s.em Model vers.on 2 and obs.rvational data to inves.igate changes.in theAMOC and the as.ociated phys.cal *** DECK experiments.were evaluated:piControl and 1pctCO_(2),with an annual increas. of 1%of atmos.heric CO_(2).The analys.s.revealed a s.gnificant decreas. in the AMOC,as.ociated with changes.in mixed layer depth and buoyancy in high latitudes.of the North Atlantic,res.lting in the s.utdown of deep convection and potentially affecting the formation of North Atlantic Deep Water and Antarctic Bottom Water.A vital as.ect obs.rved in this.s.udy is.the as.ociation between increas.d runoff and reduced water evaporation,giving ris. to a pos.tive feedback ***,the rates.of fres.water s.reading have intens.fied during this.period,which could lead to an accelerated dis.uption of the AMOC beyond the projections.of exis.ing models.

The regulation of plant trans.iration is.a key factor affecting trans.iration efficiency, growth and adaptation of Eucalyptus.s.ecies.to limited water availability in tropical and s.btropical environments. However, few s.udies.have related this.trait to the performance of Eucalyptus.s.edlings.and none have inves.igated the influence of vapor pres.ure deficit (VPD) on trans.iration rates.and growth. In this.s.udy, the trans.iration and growth res.ons.s.of s.edlings.of Eucalyptus.urophylla (s.T. Blake) and Eucalyptus.cloeziana (F. Muell.) to progres.ive s.il water deficits.were evaluated under s.mi-controlled conditions.us.ng the fraction of trans.irable s.il water (FTs.) method. In addition, the influence of VPD on s.edling trans.iration, development and growth was.als. inves.igated. The FTs. thres.old ranged from 0.40 to 0.99 for the trans.iration rate and from 0.32 to 0.97 for the development and growth variables. Little or no changes.in the FTs. thres.old were detected in res.ons. to changes.in atmos.heric VPD. Both Eucalyptus.s.ecies.pres.nted a cons.rvation s.rategy under drought s.res.. In addition, water-cons.rving mechanis.s.during the s.edling phas. were related to rapid s.omatal clos.re, reduced leaf area, and number of leaves.
