Comparison of point and two-dimensional shear wave elastography of the spleen in healthy subjects

BACKGROUND Few systematic comparative studies of the different methods of physical elastography of the spleen are currently *** To compare point shear wave and two-dimensional elastography of the spleen considering the anatomical location(upper,hilar,and lower pole).METHODS As part of a prospective clinical study,healthy volunteers were examined for splenic elasticity using four different ultrasound devices between May 2015 and April *** devices used for point shear wave elastography were from Siemens(S 3000)and Philips(Epiq 7),and those used for two-dimensional shear wave elastography were from GE(Logiq E9)and Toshiba(Aplio 500).in addition,two different software versions(5.0 and 6.0)were evaluated for the Toshiba ultrasound device(Aplio 500).The study consisted of three arms:A,B,and *** in study arm A,200 subjects were evaluated(78 males and 122 females,mean age 27.9±8.1 years).in study arm B,113 subjects were evaluated(38 men and 75 women,mean age 26.0±6.3 years).in study arm C,44 subjects were enrolled.A significant correlation of the shear wave velocities at the upper third of the spleen(r=0.33088,Pilips Epiq 7 device compared to the Siemens Acuson S *** comparisons of the other ultrasound devices(GE,Siemens,Toshiba),no comparable results could be obtained for any anatomical position of the *** influencing factors age,gender,and body mass index did not show a clear correlation with the measured shear wave *** The absolute values of the shear wave elastography measurements of the spleen and the two different elastography methods are not comparable between different manufacturers or models.

A Simulation Model for Sexual and Vectorial Transmission of Zika Virus(ZiKV)

Nowadays the Zika virus (ZiKV) has been one of the most studied vector-borne diseases due to the considerable outbreaks that have generated around the world as well as due to the new transmission mechanisms and health complications originated. According to statistics of the iNS-Colombia for July 2016, 68% of the population infected by ZiKV (confirmed cases) are pregnant women. Furthermore, the Quindío department belongs to the states with more than 50% of the total infected persons being pregnant women. Taking into account those characteristics, a theoretical model is proposed and analyzed to describe the population dynamics considering the sexual and vectorial transmission of ZiKV, with special emphasis in the consequences of the non-vectorial transmission in the population. The obtained results with simulations through the beta parameter indicate that the probability of sexual transmission between susceptible women and infected men points out the importance of campaigns to inculcate prevention measures for the safe sexual relationships between ZiKV infected population.

目的分析2010-2015年上海市松江区艾滋病自愿咨询检测（VCT）求询者相关情况,为松江区艾滋病（AiDS）防治工作提供科学依据。方法以2010-2015年上海市松江区VCT求询者作为调查对象,对求询者提供免费艾滋病病毒（HiV）及梅毒检测,并收集求询者一般人口学情况等信息。采用非条件Logistic回归分析影响VCT求询者HiV感染的相关因素。结果 2010-2015年,上海市松江区共有2444人进行VCT,求询人数逐年增加。其中男性2022人（82.7%）,女性422人（17.3%）。HiV阳性检出率为2.4%～7.5%,阳性检出率呈逐年上升趋势。多因素Logistic回归分析显示,男性、50岁以上人群、男男性行为者（MSM）及配偶/固定性伴阳性人群均为HiV感染的影响因素。结论 VCT门诊是及时发现HiV感染者和AiDS病人的重要手段,应加强对男性、50岁以上人群、MSM及配偶/固定性伴阳性人群的健康教育和行为干预。

Dear editor,Prostate cancer(PCa)remains a major healthcare burden in men globally[1].Most patients present with localized disease,and treatment is recommended based on risk classification systems like the National Comprehensive Cancer Network(NCCN)[2].However,these methods are imprecise for estimating metastasis-free survival and prostate cancer-specific mortality and thus biomarkers that can predict tumor aggression are needed[3–5].Several studies have since characterized the molecular landscape of localized PCa in White[4,5]and Black/African-American men[6],but data is lacking in Asian *** Chinese Prostate Cancer Genome and Epigenome Atlas(CPGEA)reported on the genomic and epigenomic landscape of 208 PCa of men from China[7].Comparative analyses between the CPGEA cohort and data from The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)revealed higher frequencies of Forkhead box A1(FOXA1)and chromodomain-helicase DNA-binding 1(CHD1)mutations,and lower frequencies of phosphatase and tensin homolog(PTEN)mutations and transmembrane protease serine 2-E26 transformationspecific related gene(TMPRSS2-ERG)fusion in Chinese compared with White men[7].These preliminary findings highlight the presence of race-specific differences in molecular phenotypes of PCa.

in this White Paper we present the potential of the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry(eXTP) mission for studies related to Observatory Science targets. These include flaring stars, supernova remnants, accreting white dwarfs, low and high mass X-ray binaries, radio quiet and radio loud active galactic nuclei, tidal disruption events, and gamma-ray bursts. eXTP will be excellently suited to study one common aspect of these objects: their often transient nature. Developed by an international Consortium led by the institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Science, the eXTP mission is expected to be launched in the mid 2020s.
