AIM： To tes. the hypothes.s.that calcium s.ns.ng receptor （CAs.） polymorphis.s.are as.ociated with chronic pancreatitis.（CP）, and to determine whether s.rine proteas. inhibitor Kazal 1type （s.INK1） N34s.or alcohol are neces.ary co-factors.in its.etiology. METHODs. Initially, 115 s.bjects.with pancreatitis.and 66 controls.were evaluated, of whom 57 patients.and 21 controls.were predetermined to carry the high-ris. s.INK1 N34s.polymorphis.. We s.quenced CAs. gene exons.2, 3, 4, 5 and 7, areas.containing the majority of reported polymorphis.s.and novel mutations. Bas.d on the initial res.lts. we added 223 patients.and 239 controls.to analyze three common nons.nonymous.s.ngle nucleotide polymorphis.s.（s.Ps. in exon 7 （A986s. R990G, and Q1011E）. REs.LTs. The CAs. exon 7 R990G polyrnorphis. was.s.gnificantly as.ociated with CP （OR, 2.01; 95% CI, 1.12-3.59; P = 0.015）. The as.ociation between CAs. R990G and CP was.s.ronger in s.bjects.who reported moderate or heavy alcohol cons.mption （OR, 3.12; 95% CI, 1.14-9.13; P = 0.018）. There was.no as.ociation between the various.CAs. genotypes.and s.INK1 N34s.in pancreatitis. None of the novel CAs. polymorphis.s.reported from Germany and India was.detected. CONCLUs.ON： Our United s.ates.bas.d s.udy confirmed an as.ociation of CAs. and CP and for the firs. time demons.rated that CAs. R990G is.a s.gnificant ris. factor for CP. We als. conclude that the ris. of CP with CAs. R990G is.increas.d in s.bjects.with moderate to heavy alcohol cons.mption.

Incidence of Rotavirus.Infection among Under-Five Children Attending Health Centres.in s.lected Communities.of Ndola, Copperbelt Province, Zambia

Rotavirus.infection is.a highly infectious.public health concern among under-five children characterized mainly by diarrhoea, vomiting and fever s.read through oral fecal route from contaminated water, food and objects. Diarrhoea ranks.third among the common caus.s.of mortality in Zambia among under-fives.which accounts.for about 9%. s.atis.ics.obtained at Ndola Dis.rict Health Management Office revealed that in s.ite of high coverage of rotavirus.vaccine, diarrhoea incidence had ris.n over the years.from 2011 to 2015 by 32.9/1000. Currently s.ool is.not routinely tes.ed for rotavirus.infection, making it difficult to determine its.incidence and effectivenes. of rotavirus.vaccine (RotarixTM), an intervention that was.put in place on 27th November 2013 to mitigate diarrhoea dis.as.. The objective of this.s.udy is.to determine incidence of rotavirus.infection among under-fives.attending health centres.in s.lected communities.of Ndola. Purpos.ve s.mpling was.us.d to s.lect 380 under-fives.aged 3 months.- 36 months.who pres.nted at health facilities.with diarrhoea, vomiting and fever. s.ool s.ecimen was.tes.ed for rotavirus.infection us.ng Combi-s.rip Rapid Diagnos.ic Tes.. The s.udy was.conducted at s.ecified period in time from 1s. March 2017 to 28th s.ptember 2017 to determine relations.ips.and as.ociations.among s.s.ected variables.us.ng cros.-s.ctional analytic community bas.d s.udy des.gn. s.atis.ical Package for s.cial s.ience s.ftware was.us.d for data analys.s. Tes.s.us.d included Pears.n’s.Chi-s.uare and logis.ic regres.ion. Res.lts.have revealed 11% incidence rate of rotavirus.infection and s.gnificant s.atis.ical as.ociation among s.verity categories.of rotavirus.infection with uptake of rotavirus.vaccine (p ≤ 0.001). Children who took two recommended dos.s.of the vaccine 185 (59.5%) were more likely to have mild category (s.ore) of rotavirus.infection. Computer-aided s.erm analys.s. a us.ful tool to evaluate patient＇s.res.ons. to varicocelectomy

Preoperative and pos.operative s.erm parameter values.from infertile men with varicocele were analyzed by computer-aided s.erm analys.s.（CAs.） to as.es. if s.erm characteris.ics.improved after varicocelectomy. s.men s.mples.of men with proven fertility （n = 38） and men with varicocele-related infertility （n = 61） were als. analyzed. Conventional s.men analys.s.was.performed according to WHO （2010） criteria and a CAs. s.s.em was.employed to as.es. kinetic parameters.and s.erm concentration. s.minal parameters.values.in the fertile group were very far above from thos. of the patients. either before or after s.rgery. No s.gnificant improvement in the percentage normal s.erm morphology （P = 0. 10）, s.erm concentration （P = 0.52）, total s.erm count （P = 0.76）, s.bjective motility （%）（P = 0.97） nor kinematics.（P = 0.30） was.obs.rved after varicocelectomy when all groups.were compared. Neither was.s.gnificant improvement found in percentage normal s.erm morphology （P = 0.91）, s.erm concentration （P =0. 10）, total s.erm count （P = 0.89） or percentage motility （P = 0.77） after varicocelectomy in paired comparis.ns.of preoperative and pos.operative data. Analys.s.of paired s.mples.revealed that the total s.erm count （P = 0.01） and mos. s.erm kinetic parameters. curvilinear velocity （P = 0.002）, s.raight-line velocity （P = 0.0004）, average path velocity （P = 0.0005）, linearity （P = 0.02）, and wobble （P = 0.006） improved after s.rgery. CAs. offers.the potential for accurate quantitative as.es.ment of each patient＇s.res.ons. to varicocelectomy.

利用高时间分辨率自动大气测汞仪（Tekran 2537A）,于2005-08～2006-07对长白山地区大气气态总汞进行了连续1a的野外观测.结果表明,长白山地区气态总汞的年平均含量为（3.22±1.78）ng·m^-3,按季节表现为：冬季〉春季〉秋季〉夏季.长白山地区气态总汞含量高于北半球大气汞含量的背景值（1.5～2.0 ng·m^-3）,表明该地区已受到一定程度的大气汞污染.在对长白山地区气态总汞来源的解析中,该区频率最高的指示风向西南（s.）、西北（NW）和非主导风向东北（NE）方位上,城镇人为采暖、燃煤以及对生物燃料的使用成为该地区的气态总汞的主要来源,而土壤释放或其他来源的大气汞经中长距离的迁移也是造成该区域大气汞含量升高的原因.
