Purpose:The purpose of this study was to examine effects of a sport version of a semi-rigid ankle brace (ElementTM) and a soft ankle brace (ASO) on ankle biomechanics and ground reaction forces (GrFs) during a drop landing activity in subjects with chronic ankle instability (CAI)compared to healthy subjects with no history of ***:Ten healthy subjects and 10 subjects who had multiple ankle sprains participated in the study as the control and unstable subjects,*** CAI subjects were age,body mass index and gender matched with the control *** arch index and ankle functions of the subjects were measured in a subject screening *** the biomechanical test session,participants performed five trials of drop landing from 0.6 m,wearing no brace ( NB),ElementTM brace and ASO *** recording of three-dimensional kinematic (240 Hz)and GrF (1200 Hz) data were ***:The CAI subjects had lower ankle functional survey *** arch index and deformity results showed greater arch deformity of ElementTM against a static load than in NB and ASO due to greater initial arch position held by the *** participants had greater eversion velocity than healthy *** ASO brace reduced the first peak vertical GrF whereas ElementTM increased 2nd peak vertical *** brace reduced eversion range of motion (rOM) and peak eversion velocity compared to NB and *** addition,ElementTM reduced dorsiflexion rOM and increased peak plantarflexion moment compared to NB and ***:results of static arch measurements and dynamic ankle motion suggest that the restrictions offered by both braces are in part due to more dorsiflexed ankle positions at contact,and higher initial arch position and stiffer ankle for ElementTM.

The phytochrome （phy）A and phyB photoreceptors mediate three photobiological response modes in plants; whereas phyA can mediate the very-low-fluence response （VLFr）, the high-irradiance response （HIr） and, to some extent, the low fluence response （LFr）, phyB and other type U phytochromes only mediate the LFr. To investigate to what level a rice phyA can complement for Arabidopsis phyA or phyB function and to evaluate the role of the serine residues in the first 20 amino acids of the N-terminus of phyA, we examined VLFr, LFr, and HIr responses in phyB and phyAphyB mutant plants transformed with rice PHYA cDNA or a mutant rice PHYA cDNA in which the first 10 serine residues were mutated to alanines （phyA SA）. Utilizing mutants without endogenous phyB allowed the evaluation of red-light-derived responses sensed by the rice phyA. In summary, the WT rice phyA could complement VLFr and LFr responses such as inhibition of hypocotyl elongation under pulses of Fr or continuous r light, induction of flowering and leaf expansion, whereas the phyA SA was more specific for HIr responses （e.g. inhibition of hypocotyl elongation and anthocyanin accumulation under continuous far-red light）. As the N-terminal serines can no longer be phosphorylated in the phyA SA mutant, this suggests a role for phosphorylation discriminating between the different phyA-dependent responses. The efficacy of the rice phyA expressed in Arabidopsis was dependent upon the developmental age of the plants analyzed and on the physiological response, suggesting a stage-dependent downstream modulation of phytochrome signaling.

AIM： To develop a critical pathway for primary open angle glaucoma （POAG） diagnosis intended to be efficient, to unify criteria, reduce resource use and minimize costs to the health system. METHODS： We performed a systematic search on PubMed, Cochrane, Embase and *** databases and classified the quality of evidence from level I through III. rESULTS： A critical pathway was designed by setting a key-decision step by step model on the basis of the best current evidence. CONCLUSION： A critical pathway, evidence-based guideline, may be a useful tool intended to reduce costs while maintaining or even improving the quality of care for diagnosing a highly prevalent pathology such as open angle glaucoma.

Intestine is responsible for the biotransformation of many orally-exposed *** constitutive androstane receptor(CAr/Nr1i3) is known to up-regulate many genes encoding drugmetabolizing enzymes and transporters(drug-processing genes/DPGs) in liver,but less is known regarding its effect in ***-day-old wild-type and Car / mice were administered the CArligand TCPOBOP or vehicle once daily for 4 *** wild-type mice,Car m rNA was down-regulated by TCPOBOP in liver and *** / mice had altered basal intestinal expression of many DPGs in a section-specific *** with the liver data(Aleksunes and Klaassen,2012),TCPOBOP upregulated many DPGs(Cyp2b10,Cyp3a11,Aldh1a1,Aldh1a7,Gsta1,Gsta4,Gstm1-m4,Gstt1,Ugt1a1,Ugt2b34,Ugt2b36,and Mrp2–4) in specific sections of small intestine in a CAr-dependent ***,the m rNAs of Nqo1 and Papss2 were previously known to be up-regulated by TCPOBOP in liver but were not altered in ***,many known CAr-target genes were highest expressed in colon where CAr is minimally expressed,suggesting that additional regulators are involved in regulating their *** conclusion,CAr regulates the basal expression of many DPGs in intestine,and although many hepatic CAr-targeted DPGs were bona fide CAr-targets in intestine,pharmacological activation of CAr in liver and intestine are not identical.

To investigate of pediatric ulcerative colitis activity index (PUCAI) in ulcerative colitis correlate with mucosal inflammation and endoscopic assessment of disease activity (Mayo endoscopic score).METHODSWe reviewed charts from ulcerative colitis patients who had undergone both colonoscopy over 3 years. Clinical assessment of disease severity within 35 d (either before or after) the colonoscopy were included. Patients were excluded if they had significant therapeutic interventions (such as the start of corticosteroids or immunosuppressive agents) between the colonoscopy and the clinical assessment. Mayo endoscopic score of the rectum and sigmoid were done by two gastroenterologists. Inter-observer variability in Mayo score was *** identified 99 patients (53% female, 74% pancolitis) that met inclusion criteria. The indications for colonoscopy included ongoing disease activity (62%), consideration of medication change (10%), assessment of medication efficacy (14%), and cancer screening (14%). Based on PUCAI scores, 33% of patients were in remission, 39% had mild disease, 23% had moderate disease, and 4% had severe disease. There was “moderate-substantial” agreement between the two reviewers in assessing rectal Mayo scores (kappa = 0.54, 95%CI: 0.41-0.68).CONCLUSIONEndoscopic disease severity (Mayo score) assessed by reviewing photographs of pediatric colonoscopy has moderate inter-rater reliability, and agreement was less robust in assessing patients with mild disease activity. Endoscopic disease severity generally correlates with clinical disease severity as measured by PUCAI score. However, children with inflamed colons can have significant variation in their reported clinical symptoms. Thus, assessment of both clinical symptoms and endoscopic disease severity may be required in future clinical studies.
