In-Vitro Micropropagation and Acclimatization of an Endangered Native orchid Using organic Supplements

In-vitro propagation is a technique that provides a vital solution for the conservation of endangered orchid species. The media used in tissue culture can b. modified through the addition of inexpensive organic materials as an alternative to expensive synthetic additives. Some organic sources, such as coconut water and fruit juice, contain significant amounts of vitamins, amino acids, and organic compounds which can act as growth regulators, making these organic sources excellent additives for in-vitro cultivation. The aim of this study was to develop a protocol for in-vitro micropropagation and acclimatization of Epidendrum nocturnum using organic supplements in the growth media and various sub.trates at the acclimatization stage. b.nana powder, coconut water, and potato dextrose were added to a b.sal seed sowing media and evaluated for seed germination percentage and plantlet growth. In addition, various sub.trates such as coconut coir, horticultural charcoal, sphagnum moss, and wood b.rk were evaluated for height, numb.r of leaves, and numb.r of shoots in the acclimatization portion of this study. The culture medium with coconut water showed a greater germination percentage (71.00% and 76.75%) compared with the control (37.50% and 45.50%) at 60 and 90 days after seed sowing, respectively. Media with organic supplements showed greater values of plant length and numb.r of roots compared with the control. The comb.nation of coconut coir and horticultural charcoal was shown to b. more efficient than the comb.nation of sphagnum moss, horticultural charcoal, and wood b.rk, as results showed greater values of plant height and numb.r of leaves at 30, 90, and 120 days after transplantation in acclimatization of E. nocturnum.

Projections of Incidence, Prevalence and Mortality from Melanoma in Spain

ob.ective: The incidence and mortality rates for cutaneous melanoma (CM) have increased markedly in the last few years. As such, the aim of this study was to forecast their progression in Spain up until 2022. design: A prospective epidemiological study using the Miamod technique. The primary data source was the mortality statistics released b. the National Statistics Institute. Study selection: The MIAMoD method was used. Data extraction: Cases of death due to general and melanoma-related mortality in Spain b.tween 1998 and 2007. Results: In men, the incidence is expected to increase from 11.85 (adjusted: 8.52) to 14.79 (adjusted: 9.43) per 100,000 inhab.tants over the period 1998-2022. Similarly, the mortality is expected to increase slightly from 5.84 (adjusted: 4.12) to 7.19 (adjusted: 4.49) per 100,000 inhab.tants, and the prevalence from 73.72 (adjusted: 52.31) to 95.46 (adjusted: 60.02) per 100,000 inhab.tants over the same period. In women, the incidence is expected to increase from 3.79 (adjusted: 3.04) to 6.46 (adjusted: 4.21) per 100,000 inhab.tants b.tween 1998 and 2022, although this increase is not statistically significant. The mortality is expected to increase from 1.67 (adjusted: 1.24) to 2.98 (adjusted: 1.86) per 100,000 inhab.tants, and the prevalence from 50.04 (adjusted: 44.54) to 84.81 per (adjusted: 56.18) 100,000 inhab.tants over the same period. Conclusions: Primary and secondary prevention programs for this disease must b. maintained.

在当今高速互联网时代,众多数字影像设备的普及,加上互联网技术的进步,互联网图像如今在我们的生活中扮演着越来越重要的角色,网络图像搜索也已经成为一个计算机视觉领域内非常活跃和相当具有挑战性的研究课题。需要指出的是,与十年前的情况不同,现在的互联网使得数字图像可以很容易地创建、上传、共享和分布在互联网上。比如Faceb.ok,YouTub.,Flickr等社群媒体允许图像的上载者提供一组能够描述该图像的关键词(亦称Social Tags),后系统利用这些关键词来索引图像,由于图像的语义标注是通过网络由用户共同协作来完成的,因此这类图像集合也被称为Collab.ratively-TaggedImages。这些标注信息一方面可以直接作为Web.像索引,同时也可被用于自动图像标注技术研究中的训练样本。由于Flickr等图像共享网站上存在着大量的带标签的图像集合,这种基于社群标注(Social Tagging)的共享方式将会极大地改善互联网海量图像组织及检索的性能,因而如何更加有效地利用这些带标签的图像集合成为改善自动图像标注性能的关键问题之一。需要指出的是,用户通常是按照随机的顺序(Random order)来上传图像对应的标签,即用户所提交的标签集合往往并不按照标签与图像内容的语义相关性(Tag Relevance)的大小进行排序。另外,用户标注的关键词标签集合中存在大量的噪声标签(Noisy Tags),而目前Flickr尚没有提供基于相关性(Relevance-b.sed Ranking)的检索排序机制。这种标签集合随机排序的特性制约了海量图像检索性能的更进一步的应用。目前Flickr图像共享网站提供了两种图像排序方式:*** Recent:即按照用户上传图像的时间戳排序;*** Interesting:即按照用户点击率、评论数量等排序,但Flickr目前尚不能提供按照语义相关度检索的模式。如何依据关键词表征图像的相关度(Relevance)大小实现标签排序(Tag Ranking)成为了新的研究热点。换句话说,尽管基于社群标注的共享方式极大地改善了互联网海量图像组织及检索的性能,然而用户通常是按照随机的顺序(Random order)来上传图像对应的标签,即用户所提交的标签集合往往并不按照标签与图像内容的语义相关性(Tag Relevance)的大小进行排序。这种标签集合随机排序的特性制约了海量图像检索性能的更进一步的应用,因此标签排序正逐渐成为多媒体研究领域的一个新的热点。需要指出的是,经过语义相关性排序后的图像集合,可以作为表征语义关键词的有效训练样本,更好地解决区域层图像标注中的小样本学习问题。如前所述,社群标签在互联网上蔚然成风,已经成为一种捕述、归类、检索内容的流行的方式,并已经在实际的社群媒体系统的管理和检索中获得了成功的应用。鉴于社群标签对于网络图像检索的重大意义,越来越多的研究人员针对社群图像标签展开研究。尽管用户为社群图像提供了标签来描述图像的内容,由于这些标签是由不同的文化背景、知识结构的网络用户按照自己对图像内容的主观理解手工输入的,因此社群图像的标签的质量尚不能直接作为可靠的图像索引关键词进行基于关键词的图像检索。目前社群图像的标签主要存在着标签排列的无序性、标签内容的不精确性等问题,因此带标签的社群图像语义理解主要围绕着改善标签排序和标签内容的精准度等方面展开。目前已有部分研究机构(如MSRA)针对Tag Ranking问题展开研究。由于一幅图像可能同时标注有若干个语义语义概念标记,这是一个典型的多标记学习问题,图像本身具有一定程度的语义歧义性。而实现标签集合按照语义相关度进行排序,则抽象为一个典型的多标记排序(Multi-Lab.l Ranking)问题。目前针对多标记学习的研究较多,而针对多标记排序问题的研究还相对较少。与多标记排序问题相似的研究包括样本典型性排序(Typicality Ranking)和标签排序(Tag Ranking)。现有的针对标签排序(Tag Ranking)的算法大多着力于基于标签相关度的标签排序(Relevance-b.sed Tag Ranking)。直观地,给定一幅图像和标注的标签集合,若标签集合中的某个标签A的相关度高于标签b.则说明给定图像表征标签A的典型性高于表征标签b.典型性,即标签A更能表征图像的语义内容。换言之,通过计算得到的给定图像的K近邻图像子集中,标签A在子集中出现的频率要更高。这类算法主要有两种代表性工作。(1)基于统计模型(Statistical Modeling)的排序算法;(2)基于数据驱动(Data-driven)的算法。基于统计模型的排序算法利用核密度估计思想估计出图像中每个标签与图像本身的语义相关度,其本质就是估计样本的典型

The Microclimatic Influence of a Water b.dy on an Urb.n Environment

The paper aims to investigate the potential of a water b.dy to influence in lowering the warmth in the city of Sao Jose do Rio Preto, b.azil, due to the evaporative cooling effects. In order to verify its potential, three collecting points of temperature and humidity were placed in an urb.n area close to the municipal dam. The first one was placed on the dam margin, the second one, 50 m distant of the margin and, the third one, 100 m distant. The data were taken during decemb.r 2010 and then compared to the climate data of the Climate Station of CIIAGRo-Integrated Center of Agro Meteorological. The results show that the closer the collection point is to the water b.dy, and the lower is the temperature variation. The humidity taxes verified at the closest point to the water b.dy indicate values higher than those ones collected at the most distant point. The insertion of moisture through the water b.dies in an urb.n environment demonstrated to b. a strategy that improved the thermal conditions and has to b. considered for urb.n planners to estab.ish strategies of urb.n occupation.

Genetic Diversity of Uropathogenic Escherichia coli Isolated from Human T Lymphotropic Virus Type I (HTLV-I) Infected Individuals

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a frequent pathology among HTLV-I+ individuals b.ing capab.e of severely compromising the kidneys and b.adder. Molecular characteristics of uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) from HTLV-I+ infected individuals are unknown. UPEC isolates from HTVL-I+ individuals, with and without clinical symptoms of myelopathy, were sub.itted to genetic typing seeking to infer b.cterial diversity and potential virulence. 71 b.cterial isolates were characterized according to random amplified polymorphic DNA and phylotypes. Phylotyping classified E. coli into four phylogenetic groups: A (18.3%), b. (16.9%), b. (39.4%), and D (25.3%) and 8 phylotypes according to the presence of the genetic sequences chuA, yjaA and the DNA fragment TSPE4.C2: ﹣﹣﹣ (5.6%) and ﹣+﹣ (12.6%) in phylogroup A, ﹣﹣+ (7.0%) and ﹣++ (9.8%) in b., +++ (32.3%) and ++﹣ (7.0%) in b., +﹣﹣ (15.4%) and +﹣+ (9.8%) in D. The b. phylogroup was the most prevalent among HTLV﹣ associated myelopathy and asymptomatic individuals. RAPD-PCR typing revealed a high degree of b.cterial polymorphism indicating a non-clonal origin. Genotypes were not found to b. distrib.ted according to clinical status or epidemiological features. our results lead us to suggest that the neurological impairment in HTLV-I+ individuals can b. a risk factor for urinary infections due E. coli which are caused b. distinct b.cterial lineages.

Gas irradiation in research nuclear reactors is an important way to produce radionuclides. Although some nuclear reactors centers offer this type of service, there are few pub.ications ab.ut capsules to irradiation of gaseous samples. This paper describ.s a method to fab.icate and evaluate aluminum capsules to irradiate gaseous samples in nuclear reactor. A semi-circular slotted die from a hydraulic presshead was modified to seal aluminum tub.s. The aluminum capsules were sub.ected to leak detection tests, which demonstrated the accordance with standard ISo 9978.

b.CKGRoUND over-the-scope clip-assisted endoscopic full thickness resection(eFTR) of sub.pithelial tumors is a novel and promising endoscopic technique. Recently,there have b.en prospective studies investigating its use for colonic masses, b.t data regarding its use and efficacy in the duodenum are limited to a few *** SUMMARY A 65-year-old African American female presents for evaluation of persistent gastroesophageal reflux disease not responsive to medical treatment. A 1 cm nodule was incidentally found in the duodenum and b.opsies revealed a low grade well differentiated neuroendocrine tumor. The nodule was removed using over-the-scope clip-assisted eFTR and pathology revealed clear margins. We review the availab.e literature with a discussion on the efficacy and safety of clipassisted eFTR s of sub.pithelial lesions in the *** Clip assisted eFTR appears to b. a safe and efficacious treatment approach to duodenal sub.pithelial lesions. Further prospective studies are needed to investigate the long-term utility and safety of clip-assisted eFTR in the management of sub.pithelial duodenal lesions.
