BACKGROUND Giant condyloma acuminatum(GCA)is an uncommon condition affecting the anogenital *** SUMMARY Here,we report an 88-year-old male patient who presented with a 5-year history of a progressive appearance of multiple cauliflower-like warts over his penile shaft,pubis region,and groin as well as urine leakage along the distal penile *** examination revealed an ulcerative skin perforation with pus discharge under the distal prepuce base,which was initially suspected to be a urethral ***,during surgery,it was discovered that the perforation was caused by a giant condyloma lesion that had obliterated the prepuce opening,with infection and high pressure causing subsequent skin *** underwent circumcision and wide excision with electrocauterization of the *** was discharged after the surgery,and the residual lesion was treated with imiquimod and low-dose oral *** Penile GCA can cause prepuce perforation and can be postoperatively treated with imiquimod and low-dose oral tegafur-uracil.

Laser surface texturing(LST)has been proven to improve the tribological performance of machine *** micro-scale patterns manufactured by LST may act as lubricant reservoirs,thus supplying oil when encountering insufficient ***,not many studies have investigated the use of LST in the boundary lubrication regime,likely due to concerns of higher contact stresses that can occur with the increasing surface *** study aims to examine the influence of LST on the fatigue lifetime of thrust rolling bearings under boundary lubrication.A series of periodic patterns were produced on the thrust rolling bearings,using two geometrically different designs,namely cross and dimple *** oil ISO VG 100 mixed with 0.05 wt%P of zinc dialkyldithiophosphate(ZDDP)was *** bearings with cross patterns reduce the wear loss by two orders of *** patterns not only retain lubricant in the textured pockets but also enhance the formation of an anti-wear *** tribofilm generation may be improved by the higher contact stresses that occur when using the textured ***,in contrast to the negative concerns,the ball bearings with cross patterns were instead found to increase the fatigue life by a factor of three.

Healthcare is a fundamental part of every individual’s *** healthcare industry is developing very rapidly with the help of advanced *** researchers are trying to build cloud-based healthcare applications that can be accessed by healthcare professionals from their premises,as well as by patients from their mobile devices through communication *** systems promote reliable and remote interactions between patients and healthcare ***,there are several limitations to these innovative cloud computing-based systems,namely network availability,latency,battery life and resource *** propose a hybrid mobile cloud computing(HMCC)architecture to address these ***,we also evaluate the performance of heuristic and dynamic machine learning based task scheduling and load balancing algorithms on our proposed *** compare them,to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each algorithm;and provide their comparative results,to show latency and energy consumption *** issues for cloudbased healthcare systems are discussed in detail.

This study discusses the experimental result of the viscoplastic response and col- lapse of sharp-notched 316L stainless steel tubes with different notched depths subjected to cyclic bending. The tube bending machine and curvature-ovalization measurement apparatus were used for conducting the symmetric curvature-controlled cyclic bending. To highlight the viscoplastic behavior, three different curvature-rates, 0.0035, 0.035 and 0.35 m-1s-1, were controlled. Ob- servations of a certain curvature-rate reveal that five almost parallel lines corresponding to five different notch-depth （0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0 mm） tubes were presented in the experimental relationship between the cyclic controlled curvature and the number of cycles needed to pro- duce buckling on a log-log scale. However, the slopes for the three different curvature-rates are different. An empirical formulation was proposed to simulate the aforementioned relationship. When comparing with the experimental findings, the simulation was in good agreement with the experimental data.

In the present contribution,we demonstrate that the sluggish kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction(OER)over the bismuth sulfide(Bi_(2)S_(3))photoanode,which severely restricts its photoelectrochemical activity,is markedly accelerated by employing a sulfatecontaining ***-principle calculation points to the spontaneous adsorption of sulfate(SO_(4)^(2−))on Bi_(2)S_(3)and its capacity of stabilizing the OER intermediates through hydrogen bonding,which is further reinforced by increasing the local density of states near the Fermi level of Bi_(2)S_(3).Meanwhile,the electron transfer is also promoted to synergistically render the ratedetermining step(from O*to OOH*)of OER over Bi_(2)S_(3)kinetically *** but not least,benefitting from such enhanced OER activity and efficient charge separation resulted from depositing Bi_(2)S_(3)on the zinc oxide nanorods(ZnO NRs),forming a core–shell heterojunction,its photocurrent density achieves 8.61 mA·cm^(−2)at 1.23 VRHE,far surpassing those reported for additional Bi_(2)S_(3)-based and several state-of-the-art photoanodes in the literature and further exceeding their theoretical *** great promise of the Bi_(2)S_(3)/ZnO NRs is in view of such outperformance,the superior Faradaic yield of oxygen of more than~80%and the outstanding half-cell applied bias photon-to-current efficiency of~1%well corroborated.

AIM: To investigate the association of colorectal adenomas with both Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection and metabolic syndrome. METHODS: Using a cross-sectional hospital-based study, we analyzed physical examination data from 9311 healthy subjects with overnight physical examinations performed between January 2004 and December 2006. Examined data included gender, age, life style, anthropometric measurements, blood pressure, biochemical and hematological studies, H. pylori infection detected by esophagogastroduodenoscopy and biopsy urease tests, and colorectal adenomas detected with a complete total colonoscopy. RESULTS: The prevalence values for H. pylori infection, metabolic syndrome, and colorectal adenoma were39.2%, 18.7%, and 20.7%, respectively. Colorectal adenoma risk factors included male gender [odd ratio (OR): 2.005, 95% conf idence interval (CI): 1.740-2.310, P < 0.001], advanced age (OR: 1.046, 95% CI: 1.040-1.052, P < 0.001), smoking (OR: 1.377, 95% CI: 1.146-1.654, P = 0.001), increased body fat (OR: 1.016, 95% CI: 1.007-1.026, P = 0.001), higher white blood cell count (OR: 1.038, 95% CI: 1.005-1.073, P = 0.025), H. pylori infection (OR: 1.366, 95% CI: 1.230-1.517, P < 0.001), and metabolic syndrome (OR: 1.408, 95% CI: 1.231-1.610, P < 0.001). In addition, concomitant H. pylori infection with metabolic syndrome further increased the probability of colorectal adenomas. CONCLUSION: Our study revealed H. pylori infection with concomitant metabolic syndrome might further increase the risk of colorectal adenomas.

AIM: To investigate oxaliplatin-induced severe anaphylactic reactions (SAR) in metastatic colorectal cancer in a retrospective case series analysis and to conduct a systemic literature review. METHODS: During a 6-year period from 2006 to 2011 at Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital, a total of 412 patients exposed to oxaliplatin-related chemotherapy were retrospectively reviewed. Relevant Englishlanguage studies regarding life-threatening SAR following oxaliplatin were also reviewed in MEDLINE and PubMed search. RESULTS: Eight patients (1.9%, 8 of 412 cases) were identified. Seven patients were successful resuscitated without any sequelae and one patient expired. We changed the chemotherapy regimen in five patients and rechallenged oxaliplatin use in patient 3. Twenty-three relevant English-language studies with 66 patients were reported. Patients received a median of 10 cycles of oxaliplatin (range, 2 to 29). Most common symptoms were respiratory distress (60%), fever (55%), and hypotension (54%). Three fatal events were reported (4.5%). Eleven patients (16%) of the 66 cases were rechallenged by oxaliplatin. CONCLUSION: SAR must be considered in patients receiving oxaliplatin-related chemotherapy, especially in heavily pretreated patients. Further studies on the mechanism, predictors, preventive methods and management of oxaliplatin-related SAR are recommended.

Improving catalyst performance by studying the preparation parameters, material structures and analysis methods is important work for catalyst researchers. In this study, Cu-Pt nanocomposites with different metal ratios were synthesized on MWCNTs using a polyol method. The structures and morphologies of the nano hybrid catalysts were analyzed by XRD and TEM. The XRD results indicate that Pt and Cu formed a bimetallic solid solution. The average diameters of the Pt and Cu-Pt nanoparticles on MWCNTs were between 3-10 nm and 5-15 nm, respectively. The electrocatalytic behavior of methanol oxidation reactions was investigated by cyclic voltammery （CV）. Cu（20%）/[Pt/MWCNTs（1：4）], which contained an optimal degree of solid solution, enhanced the methanol oxidation to the greatest degree.

Faithful DNA replication is one of the most essential processes in almost all living ***,the proteins responsible for organellar DNA replication are still largely unknown in ***,we show that the two mitochondriontargeted single-stranded DNA-binding(SSB)proteins SSB1 and SSB2 directly interact with each other and act as key factors for mitochondrial DNA(mt DNA)maintenance,as their single or double loss-of-function mutants exhibit severe germination delay and growth *** mt DNA levels in mutants lacking SSB1 and/or SSB2 function were two-to four-fold higher than in the wild-type(WT),revealing a negative role for SSB1/2 in regulating mt DNA *** analysis indicated that SSB1 functions upstream of mitochondrial DNA POLYMERASE IA(POLIA)or POLIB in mt DNA replication,as mutation in either gene restored the high mt DNA copy number of the ssb1-1 mutant back to WT *** addition,SSB1 and SSB2 also participate in mitochondrial genome maintenance by influencing mt DNA homologous recombination(HR).Additional genetic analysis suggested that SSB1 functions upstream of ORGANELLAR SINGLE-STRANDED DNABINDING PROTEIN1(OSB1)during mt DNA replication,while SSB1 may act downstream of OSB1and MUTS HOMOLOG1 for mt DNA ***,our results yield new insights into the roles of the plant mitochondrion-targeted SSB proteins and OSB1 in maintaining mt DNA stability via affecting DNA replication and DNA HR.
