BACKGROUND A progressive decrease in exclusive breastfeeding(BF)is observed in Latin America and the Caribbean compared with global *** possibility of being breastfed and continuing BF for>6 months is lower in low birth weight than in healthy-weight *** To identify factors associated with BF maintenance and promotion,with particular attention to low-and middle-income countries,by studying geographic,socioeconomic,and individual or neonatal health *** A scoping review was conducted in 2018 using the conceptual model of social determinants of health published by the Commission on Equity and Health Inequalities in the United *** extracted data with common characteristics were synthesized and categorized into two main themes:(1)Sociodemographic factors and proximal determinants involved in the initiation and maintenance of BF in low-birth-weight term infants in Latin America;and(2)individual characteristics related to the self-efficacy capacity for BF maintenance and adherence in low-birth-weight term *** This study identified maternal age,educational level,maternal economic capacity,social stratum,exposure to BF substitutes,access to BF information,and quality of health services as mediators for maintaining *** Individual self-efficacy factors that enable BF adherence in at-risk populations should be analyzed for better health outcomes.

Recent reports suggest that aging is not solely a physiological process in living beings;instead, it should be considered a pathological process or disease(Amorim et al., 2022). Consequently, this process involves a wide range of factors, spanning from genetic to environmental factors, and even includes the gut microbiome(GM)(Mayer et al., 2022). All these processes coincide at some point in the inflammatory process, oxidative stress, and apoptosis, at different degrees in various organs and systems that constitute a living organism(Mayer et al., 2022;AguilarHernández et al., 2023).

Obesity is one of the diseases with severe health consequences and rapidly increasing worldwide *** the complex network of food intake and energy balance regulation is an essential prerequisite for pharmacological intervention with obesity.G protein-coupled receptors(GPCRs)are among the main modulators of metabolism and energy ***,for instance,regulate appetite and satiety in certain hypothalamic neurons,as well as glucose and lipid metabolism and hormone secretion from *** in some GPCRs,such as the melanocortin receptor type 4(MC4R),have been associated with early-onset ***,we identified the adhesion GPCR latrophilin 1(ADGRL1/LPHN1)as a member of the regulating network governing food intake and the maintenance of energy *** of the highly conserved receptor in mice results in increased food consumption and severe obesity,accompanied by dysregulation of glucose ***,we identified a partially inactivating mutation in human ADGRL1/LPHN1 in a patient suffering from ***,we propose that LPHN1 dysfunction is a risk factor for obesity development.

Un-doped and Co-doped ZnO nanoparticles （NPs） with different weight ratios （0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 wt% of Co） were synthesized by a facile and rapid microwave-assisted combustion method using urea as a fuel. The prepared NPs were characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, high resolution scanning electron microscopy （HR-SEM）, energy dispersive X-ray analysis （EDX）, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy （DRS）, photoluminescence （PL） spectroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry （vSM）. XRD patterns refined by the Rietveld method indicated that Co-doped ZnO had a single pure phase with wurtzite structure suggesting that Co^2＋ ions would occupy Zn^2＋ ionic sites within the ZnO crystal lattice. Interestingly, the morphology was found to convert substantially from grains to nanoparticles with close-packed periodic array of hexagonal-like shape and then into randomly distributed spherical NPs with the variation of Co-content. The optical band gap estimated using DRS was found to be red-shifted from 3.22 ev for the un-doped ZnO NPs then decrease up to 2.88 ev with increasing Co-content. PL spectra showed a strong green emission band thus confirming the formation of pure single ZnO phase. Magnetic studies showed that Co-doped ZnO NPs exhibited room temperature ferromagnetism （RTFM） and that the saturation magnetization attained a maximum value of 2.203 × 10^-3 emu/g for the highest Co-content. The antibacterial studies performed against a set of bacterial strains showed that the 2.0 wt% Co-doped ZnO NPs possessed a greater antibacterial effect.

A recent study published in Nature Immunology by Peter Savage and colleagues sought to characterize regulatory T-cell(Treg)-suppressed self-reactive CD4^(+)T cells using an elegant system combining the depletion of Tregs with T-cell receptor(TCR)sequencing of expanded conventional CD4^(+)T-cell *** tracking the fate of T cells engineered to express the identified TCRs,Lee et *** a‘new’subpopulation of CD4^(+)T cells bearing antigen receptors with high levels of self-reactivity that take on a T follicular helper(TFH)-like phenotype in the periphery in the absence of immune challenge[1].Antigen-specificαβTCRs are generated through the somatic recombination of v(D)J gene segments during thymic development,giving rise to T cells that can recognize an enormously diverse set of peptides presented by major histocompatibility complex(pMHC)molecules.A risk of this process is that it can also lead to the generation of potentially highly self-reactive TCRs.T cells with TCRs with high affinity for self-pMHC molecules are purged in the thymus by clonal deletion,a key tolerance mechanism that prevents ***,this process is incomplete,and highly self-reactive T cells can escape negative selection and join the peripheral naive T-cell ***,while the naive CD4^(+)T-cell pool is heterogeneous with regard to an individual T cell’s reactivity for self-pMHC molecules,the distribution of T cells with differing strengths of self-reactivity leaving the thymus is skewed toward those with relatively higher self-pMHC binding strengths[2].A subset of these highly self-reactive CD4^(+)T cells in the periphery are deleted,some become functionally anergic,and others differentiate into Tregs,which go on to play an important role in peripheral tolerance,holding other CD4^(+)T cells with potentially dangerous levels of self-reactivity in check[3].What is the fate of these Treg-suppressed self-reactive cells?

Aerosol observation was conducted for four seasons from September 2001 to August 2002 at five sampling sites in Hangzhou, South China, on PM10 mass, 22 elements （Na, Mg, AI, Si, P, S, K, Ca, Ti, v, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, As. Se, Br, Cd, Ba, and Pb）, 5 major ions （F^-, Cl^ , NO3^-, SO4^2- , and NH4^＋）, and organic and elemental carbon （OC and EC）, showing that PM10 mass ranged from 46.7 to 270.8 μg/m^3, with an annual average of 119.2 μg/m^3. Na, AI, Si, S, K, Ca, and Fe were the most abundant elements in PM10, most of S being in the form of SO4^2- . SO4^2-, NO3^-, and NH4^＋ were the major ions, which contributed to about 20% of the PM10 mass. The mean seasonal concentrations for SO4^2- , averaged over all sites, were found to be 18.0, 18.5, 24,Z and 21.4 μg/m^3, for spring, summer, autumn, and winter, respectively, while the corresponding loadings for NO3^- were 7.2, 4.7, 7.1, and 11.2 μg/m^3, and for NH4^＋ were 6.0, 5.9, 8.2, and 9.3 μg/m^3, in the form mostly of NH4NO3 in spring, autumn, and winter, and mostly of （NH4）2SO4 in summer. The low NO3^-/SO4^2- ratio found indicates coal combustion as the major source throughout the year. The mean annual concentrations of OC and EC in PM10 were found to be 21.4, and 4.1 μg/m^3, respectively. Material balance calculation indicated that fugitive dust, the secondary aerosol, and carbonaceous matter were the most abundant species in PM10 for the four seasons, as is characteristic for cities in South China.
