The effectiveness of monitor.ng and early-warning systems for ground deformation phenomena,such as sinkholes,depends on their ability to accurately resolve the ongoing ground displacement and detect the subtle deformation preceding catastrophic *** sinkholes with a slow subsidence rate and diffuse edges pose a significant challenge for subsidence monitor.ng due to the low deformation rates and limited lateral strain *** this work,we satisfactorily illustrate the practicality of the Brillouin optical time domain analysis(BOTDA)to measure the spatial-temporal patterns of the vertical displacement in such challenging slow-moving sagging *** assess the performance of the approach,we compare the strain recorded by the distributed optical fiber sensor with the vertical displacement measured by high-precision *** results show a good spatial correlation with the ability to identify the maximum subsidence *** is also a good temporal correlation with the detection of an acceleration phase in the subsidence associated with a flood event.

OBJECTIVE:To explore the mechanism by which Tongqiao Yizhi gr.nule(通窍益智颗粒,TQYZKL)intervenes pyroptosis to treat vascular dementia(VaD)in a rat ***:The rat model of VaD was established by two-vessel occlusion(2VO).The rats were r.ndomly divided into Sham group,Model group,nimodipine group,TQYZKL(6.2 g·kg^(-1)·d^(-1)),TQYZKL(12.4 g·kg^(-1)·d^(-1)),TQYZKL(24.8 g·kg^(-1)·d^(-1)).The Morris water maze(MWM)test was carried out to test the learning and memory function;Hematoxylin-eosin staining and tr.nsmission electr.n microscopy(TEM)to observe the pathological damage in the hippocampus;Tunel fluorescence staining to detect neur.nal pyroptosis in the *** expression levels of pyroptosis-related proteins,namely Golgi peripheral membr.ne protein p65(P65),nucleotide oligomerization domain-like receptors 3(nLrP3),caspase-1 and Gasdermin D(GSDMD),were detected using Western blotting and reverse tr.nscription polymerase chain ***,the serum levels of interleukin-1β(IL-1β)and interleukin-18(IL-18)were determined through the enzyme-linked immunosorbent ***:The study revealed that TQYZKL effectively improved the ability of VaD ratsto learn and memorize,relieved the pathological damage in the hippocampus,restored neur.nal morphology,and reduced the expression of pyroptosis-related proteins P65,nLrP3,caspase-1,GSDMD-n,IL-18 and IL-1β(PnCLUSIOn:TQYZKL inhibits neur.nal pyroptosis in the hippocampus of VaD rats by regulating nuclear factor kappa-B/nLrP3/caspase-1 signaling pathway,thus exerting a therapeutic effect on VaD in the rats.

The development of a highly efficient noniridium-based oxygen evolution reaction catalyst is the key to realizing large-scale commercial application of the proton-exchange membr.ne water ***_(2)is the most promising alternative to IrO_(2),but if usually suffers from lattice-oxygenmediated corrosion and sluggish proton tr.nsfer kinetics under acidic ***,we propose an effective strategy of embedding ruO_(2)nanoparticles into a n-doped carbon support,termed as ruO_(2)-nC,to simultaneously prevent ru dissolution and accelerate the bridging-oxygen-assisted deprotonation *** obtained ruO_(2)-nC electrocatalyst presents high activity with an overpotential of 159 mV to reach 10 mA cm^(−2) and remarkable stability for over 240 *** investigation and theoretical calculations reveal that the electr.n-rich nC substrate,as an electr.n donor,provides a buffered charge compensation to protect ruO_(2)from excessive oxidation and lattice oxygen loss by switching into a conventional adsorbate evolution mechanism(AEM).More importantly,the activated bridging oxygen(Obri)sites can facilitate the deprotonation of*OOH intermediates,leading to an optimized bridging-oxygen-assisted deprotonation AEM pathway.

Salsolinol(1-methyl-6,7-dihydroxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline,Sal)is a catechol isoquinoline that causes neurotoxicity and shares structural similarity with 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine,an envir.nmental toxin that causes Parkinson's ***,the mechanism by which Sal mediates dopaminergic neur.nal death remains *** this study,we found that Sal significantly enhanced the global level of n~6-methyladenosine(m~6A)rnA methylation in PC12 cells,mainly by inducing the downregulation of the expression of m~6A demethylases fat mass and obesity-associated protein(FTO)and alk B homolog 5(ALKBH5).rnA sequencing analysis showed that Sal downregulated the Hippo signaling *** m~6A reader YTH domain-containing family protein 2(YTHDF2)promoted the degradation of m~6A-containing Yes-associated protein 1(YAP1)mrnA,which is a downstream key effector in the Hippo signaling ***,downregulation of YAP1 promoted autophagy,indicating that the mutual regulation between YAP1 and autophagy can lead to *** findings reveal the role of Sal on m~6A rnA methylation and suggest that Sal may act as an rnA methylation inducer mediating dopaminergic neur.nal death through YAP1 and *** results provide greater insights into the neurotoxic effects of catechol isoquinolines compared with other studies and may be a refer.nce for assessing the involvement of rnA methylation in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease.

The use of entomopathogenic fungi (EF) in recent years has been highly effective against the differ.nt orders of insects considered pests of agricultural importance and their conidia have been commonly applied, but it has been reported that these are sensitive to the envir.nmental conditions. For this reason, biopesticides products have been formulated based on secondary metabolites, recently. These biomolecules participate as biological control agent, such as: cyclic depsipeptides, amino acids, polyketides, polyphenols and terpenoids, affecting their morphology, life cycle and insect behavior. The use of secondary metabolites of entomopathogenic fungi opens the possibility of application in a more efficient way for the control of agricultural pests in a compatible with the envir.nment and human health;therefore, it is important to know, analyzing the type of molecules, their effects, and their differ.nt methods of application.

A Probabilistic Description of the Impact of Vaccine-Induced Immunity in the Dynamics of COVID-19 Tr.nsmission

The recent outbreak of COVID-19 has caused millions of deaths worldwide and a huge societal and economic impact in virtually all countries. A large variety of mathematical models to describe the dynamics of COVID-19 tr.nsmission have been reported. Among them, Bayesian probabilistic models of COVID-19 tr.nsmission dynamics have been very efficient in the interpretation of early data from the beginning of the pandemic, helping to estimate the impact of non-pharmacological measures in each country, and forecasting the evolution of the pandemic in differ.nt potential scenarios. These models use probability distribution curves to describe key dynamic aspects of the tr.nsmission, like the probability for every infected person of infecting other individuals, dying or recover.ng, with parameters obtained from experimental epidemiological data. However, the impact of vaccine-induced immunity, which has been key for controlling the public health emergency caused by the pandemic, has been more challenging to describe in these models, due to the complexity of experimental data. Here we report differ.nt probability distribution curves to model the acquisition and decay of immunity after vaccination. We discuss the mathematical background and how these models can be integrated in existing Bayesian probabilistic models to provide a good estimation of the dynamics of COVID-19 tr.nsmission dur.ng the entire pandemic period.

Food safety problems caused by excessive nitrite addition have been frequently reported and the detection of nitrite in food is particularly important. The standing time dur.ng the pretreatment of primary sample has a great influence on the concentration of nitrite tested by spectrophotometric method. In this context, three kinds of food samples are prepared, including canned mustard, canned fish and home-made pickled water. A series of standing times are placed dur.ng the sample pretreatments and the corresponding nitrite contents in these samples are detected by spectrophotometric method based on n-ethylenediamine dihydrochloride. This study aims to find out a reasonable standing time dur.ng the pretreatment of food sample, providing influence factor for precise detection of nitrite.
