Deposition of the H2A.Z histone variant by the SWR1 complex （SWRI-C） in regulatory regions of specific loci modulates transcription. Characterization of mutations in Arabidopsis thaliana homologs of yeast SWRI-C has revealed a role for H2A.Z exchange in a variety of developmental processes. Nevertheless, the exact composition of plant SWRI-C and how it is recruited to target genes remains to be established. Here we show that SWC4, the Arabidopsis homolog of yeast SANT domain protein Swc4/Eaf2, is a DNA-binding protein that interacts with SWR1-C subunits. We demonstrate that the swc4-1 knockout mutant is embryo- lethal, while SWC4 RNAi knockdown lines display pleiotropic phenotypic alterations in vegetative and repro- ductive traits, including acceleration of flowering time, indicating that SWC4 controls post-embryonic processes. Transcriptomic analyses and genome-wide profiling of H2A.Z indicate that SWC4 represses tran- scription of a number of genes, including the floral integrator FT and key transcription factors, mainly by modulating H2A.Z deposition. Interestingly, SWC4 silencing does not affect H2A.Z deposition at the FLC locus nor expression of this gene, a master regulator of flowering previously shown to be controlled by SWR1-C. Importantly, we find that SWC4 recognizes specific AT-rich DNA elements in the chromatin regions of target genes and that SWC4 silencing impairs SWRI-C binding at FT. Collectively, our data suggest that SWC4 regulates plant growth and development by aiding SWR1-C recruitment and modulating H2A.Z deposition.

Critical Contingencies Ranking for Dynamic Security Assessment Using Neural Networks

A number of contingencies simulated during dynamic security assessment do not generate unacceptable values of power system state variables, due to their small influence on system operation. Their exclusion from the set of contingencies to be simulated in the security assessment would achieve a significant reduction in computation time. This paper defines a critical contingencies selection method for on-line dynamic security assessment. The selection method results from an off-line dynamical analysis, which covers typical scenarios and also covers various related aspects like frequency, voltage, and angle analyses among others. Indexes measured over these typical scenarios are used to train neural networks, capable of performing on-line estimation of a critical contingencies list according to the system state.

Modeling of Multi-Pulse VSC Based SSSC and STATCOM

The aim of this paper is to contribute to the dynamic modeling of multi-pulse voltage sourced converter based static synchronous series compensator and static synchronous compensator. Details about the internal functioning and topology connections are given in order to understand the multi-pulse converter. Using the 24 and 48-pulse topologies switching functions models are presented. The models correctly represent commutations of semiconductor devices in multi-pulse converters, which consequently allows a precise representation of harmonic components. Additionally, time domain models that represent harmonic components are derived based on the switching functions models. Switching functions, as well as time domain models are carried out in the original abc power system coordinates. Effectiveness and precision of the models are validated against simulations performed in Matlab/Simulink?. Additionally, in order to accomplish a more realistic comparison, a laboratory prototype set up is used to assess simulated waveforms.

Wind Generation in the Argentine Power System

Energy policy is an essential part of the economy and the society. In some countries, there is a lack of a regulatory framework, which must be clear and practicable to allow new technologies to compete with the conventional way of generation. This is the problem in Argentine, the lack of a regulatory framework that can regulate the insertion of wind energy into the Argentine power system （SADI）. In this paper, a review of typical incentives for the installation of wind farms in the world, and a review of some laws and policies in Argentine are presented. Also financial and economic issues that are related to the installation of wind farms are analyzed, and some recommendations related to the topics are presented in this paper.

A New Analysis of an Implicit Mimetic Scheme for the Heat Equation

A mimetic finite difference scheme for the transient heat equation under Robin’s conditions is presented. The scheme uses second order gradient and divergence mimetic operators, on a staggered grid, to approximate the space derivatives. The temporal derivative is replaced by a first order backward difference approximation to obtain an implicit formulation. The resulting scheme contains nonstandard finite difference stencils. An original convergence analysis by the matrix’s method shows that the proposed scheme is unconditionally stable. A comparative study against standard finite difference schemes, based on central difference or first order one side approximations, reveals the advantages of our scheme without being its implementation more expensive or difficult to achieve.

Contralateral trapezius transfer to treat scapular winging: A case report and review of literature

BACKGROUND No dynamic technique, such as tendon transfer, has been described for scapular winging due to levator scapulae or rhomboid major and minor palsies resulting from an isolated dorsal scapular nerve injury. Thus, we evaluated how the contralateral trapezius compound osteomuscular flap transfer would work in stabilizing lateral scapular winging, and the case is reported here. A literature review was also conducted, and articles relevant to the case are *** SUMMARY A 37-year-old male patient who had sustained an isolated dorsal scapular nerve injury underwent reconstructive surgery using the contralateral trapezius compound osteomuscular flap transfer technique to treat scapular winging and the consequent pain, and to restore function from the shoulder impairment. As a result, the involved shoulder showed an improved Constant-Murley score, from19.5% to 81.88%.CONCLUSION Contralateral trapezius osteomuscular flap transfer succeeded in stabilizing scapular winging in this case, improving shoulder function and affording pain relief.

The high penetration of distributed generation(DG)has set up a challenge for energy management and consequently for the monitoring and assessment of power quality(PQ).Besides,there are new types of disturbances owing to the uncontrolled connections of non-linear *** stochastic behaviour triggers the need for new holistic indicators which also deal with big data of PQ in terms of compression and scalability so as to extract the useful information regarding different network states and the prevailing PQ disturbances for future risk assessment and energy management *** and continuous monitoring would guarantee the report to claim for damages and to assess the risk of PQ *** this context,we propose a measurement method that postulates the use of two-dimensional(2D)diagrams based on higher-order statistics(HOSs)and a previous voltage quality index that assesses the voltage supply waveform in a continous monitoring *** suitable for both PQ and reliability applications,the results conclude that the inclusion of HOS measurements in the industrial metrological reports helps characterize the deviations of the voltage supply waveform,extracting the individual customers’pattern fingerprint,and compressing the data from both time and spatial *** method allows a continuous and robust performance needed in the SG ***,the method can be used by an average consumer as a probabilistic method to assess the risk of PQ deviations in site characterization.
