Astrocytes protect neurons by modulating neuronal function and *** support neurons in several *** provide energy through the astrocyte-neuron lactate shuttle,protect neurons from excitotoxicity,and internalize neuronal lipid droplets to degrade fatty acids for neuronal metabolic and synaptic support,as well as by their high capacity for glutamate uptake and the conversion of glutamate to glutamine.A recent reported astrocyte system for protection of dopamine neurons against the neurotoxic products of dopamine,such as aminochrome and other o-quinones,were generated under neuromelanin synthesis by oxidizing dopamine catechol *** secrete glutathione transferase m2-2 through exosomes that transport this enzyme into dopaminergic neurons to protect these neurons against aminochrome *** role of this new astrocyte protective mechanism in Parkinson´s disease is discussed.

Remote sensing techniques are a useful tool for continuous observation of the Earth at global ***,products derived from remote sensing data require a rigorous validation using in situ *** Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(mODIS)is not really a sounding instrument,but it does have 16 infrared bands(bands 20-36 covering the spectral range from 3μm to 14μm)that allow the retrieval of temperature and moisture profiles as well as total column integrated *** this paper we show the results obtained in the evaluation of mOD07 daytime and nighttime products over the Iberian Peninsula during the decade from 2000 to 2010 using nine radiosonde *** mODIS limitations in comparison with other sounding instruments,the validation provided satisfactory results,with bias(mOD07 minus radiosonde)m and a standard deviation of 0.5 cm for the total column water vapor,and bias around 1 K on average with standard deviations between 2 K and 3 K for air temperature at different pressure *** average,bias was positive and below 2 K with standard deviations around 5 K for the dew point temperature *** errors were found in this case for pressure levels higher than 50 hPa.

Relevance of liver fibrosis amongst diabetic patients with metabolic-dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease(mASLD)and knowledge gaps Insulin resistance is paramount in the crosstalk between intrahepatic and extrahepatic pathophysiological mechanisms leading to mASLD(1),hence gaining special relevance in patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes(T2D).mASLD is the term that was recently endorsed by an international multidisciplinary consensus panel to replace non-alcoholic fatty liver disease[as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH)was replaced by metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis(mASH)](2).

Allogeneic blood transfusion (ABT) is frequently used as the first therapeutic option for the treatment of acute anaemia in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), especially when it developed due to gastrointestinal or perioperative blood loss, but is not risk-free. Adverse effects of ABT include, but are not limited to, acute hemolytic reaction (wrong blood or wrong patient), febrile non-hemolytic transfusional reaction, bacterial contamination, transfusion-related acute lung injury, transfusion associated circulatory overload, transfusion-related immuno-modulation, and transmission of almost all infectious diseases (bacteria, virus, protozoa and prion), which might result in increased risk of morbidity and mortality. Unfortunately, the main physiological goal of ABT, i.e. to increase oxygen consumption by the hypoxic tissues, has not been well documented. In contrast, the ABT is usually misused only to increase the haemoglobin level within a f ixed protocol [mostly two by two packed red blood cell (PRC) units] independently of the patient' s tolerance to normovolemic anaemia or his clinical response to the transfusion of PRC units according to a "one-by-one" administration schedule. Evidencebased clinical guidelines may promote best transfusion practices by implementing restrictive transfusion protocols, thus reducing variability and minimizing the avoidable risks of transfusion, and the use of autologous blood and pharmacologic alternatives. In this regard, preoperative autologous blood donation (PABD) consistently diminished the frequency of ABT, although its contribution to ABT avoidance is reduced when performed under a transfusion protocol. In addition, interpretation of utility of PABD in surgical IBD patients is hampered by scarcity of published data. However, the role of autologous red blood cells as drug carriers is promising. Salsolinol(1-methyl-6,7-dihydroxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline,Sal)is a catechol isoquinoline that causes neurotoxicity and shares structural similarity with 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine,an environmental toxin that causes Parkinson's ***,the mechanism by which Sal mediates dopaminergic neuronal death remains *** this study,we found that Sal significantly enhanced the global level of N~6-methyladenosine(m~6A)RNA methylation in PC12 cells,mainly by inducing the downregulation of the expression of m~6A demethylases fat mass and obesity-associated protein(FTO)and alk B homolog 5(ALKBH5).RNA sequencing analysis showed that Sal downregulated the Hippo signaling *** m~6A reader YTH domain-containing family protein 2(YTHDF2)promoted the degradation of m~6A-containing Yes-associated protein 1(YAP1)mRNA,which is a downstream key effector in the Hippo signaling ***,downregulation of YAP1 promoted autophagy,indicating that the mutual regulation between YAP1 and autophagy can lead to *** findings reveal the role of Sal on m~6A RNA methylation and suggest that Sal may act as an RNA methylation inducer mediating dopaminergic neuronal death through YAP1 and *** results provide greater insights into the neurotoxic effects of catechol isoquinolines compared with other studies and may be a reference for assessing the involvement of RNA methylation in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease.

Rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries （AZIBs） exhibit appreciable potential in the domain of electrochemical energy ***,there are serious challenges for AZIBs,for instance zinc dendrite growth,hydrogen evolution reaction （HER）,and corrosion side ***,we propose a surface engineering modification strategy for coating the montmorillonite （mmT） layer onto the surface of the Zn anode to tackle these issues,thereby achieving high cycling stability for rechargeable *** results reveal that the mmT layer on the surface of the Zn anode is able to provide ordered zincophilic channels for zinc ions migration,facilitating the reaction kinetics of zinc *** functional theory（DFT） calculations and water contact angle （CA） tests prove that mmT@Zn anode exhibits superior adsorption capacity for Zn2+and better hydrophobicity than the bare Zn anode,thereby achieving excellent cycling ***,the mmT@Zn||mmT@Zn symmetric cell holds the stable cycling over 5600 h at 0.5 mA cm-2and 0.125 m A h cm-2,even exceeding 1800 h long cycling under harsh conditions of 5 m A cm-2and 1.25 m A h *** mmT@Zn||V2O5full cell reaches over 3000 cycles at 2 A g-1with excellent rate ***,this surface engineering modification strategy for enhancing the electrochemical performance of AZIBs represents a promising application.

ABSTRACT:The practical application of rotating triboelectric nanogenerators is often limited by the wear of high-friction surface materials and low surface charge *** addition to the charge pump replenishment strategy,suppressing charge decay is also crucial for increasing surface charge ***,we present a high performance rotary triboelectric nanogenerator(HPR-TENG)based on a coplanar charge pumping strategy and polyvinyl chloride(PVC)*** has been demonstrated that applying PVC film to the surface of the storage electrode of the main TENG(m-TENG)significantly enhances the m-TENG’s output ***,the HPR-TENG with three layers of PVC film pasted achieved the best output performance,with a peak-topeak output voltage of 2828 V,a peak-to-peak output current of 327μA and a charge transfer of 0.81μC at 500 *** addition,the output improvement effects of different materials are *** TENG with 3 layers of PVC film pasted on it has a maximum output power of 748 mW at a load resistance of 4×10^(6)Ω.HPR-TENG’s output performance remains consistent after 100,000 cycles,which shows excellent *** excellent electrical performance of the HPR-TENG can be used as the energy supply for the tip high-voltage breakdown sensor system,which can achieve 14 breakdowns in 10 *** to its extraordinary electrical performance,HPRTENG can not only serve as an energy supply for cutting-edge high-voltage breakdown sensor systems,but also has the potential to serve as an energy supply for high-pressure sterilization,high-pressure vacuum and water electrolysis.

In the tropics,frequent nitrogen(N)fertilization of grazing areas can potentially increase nitrous oxide(N_(2)O)*** application of nitrification inhibitors has been reported as an effective management practice for potentially reducing N loss from the soil-plant system and improving N use efficiency(NUE).The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the co-application of nitrapyrin(a nitrification inhibitor,NI)and urea in a tropical Andosol on the behavior of N and the emissions of N_(2)O from autotrophic and heterotrophic nitrification.A greenhouse experiment was performed using a soil(pH 5.9,organic matter content 78 g kg^(-1),and N 5.6 g kg^(-1))sown with Cynodon nlemfuensis at 60%water-filled pore space to quantify total N_(2)O emissions,N_(2)O derived from fertilizer,soil ammonium(NH_(4)^(+))and nitrate(NO_(3)^(-)),and *** study included treatments that received deionized water only(control,NI).No significant differences were observed in soil NH_(4)^(+)content between the UR and UR+NI treatments,probably because of soil mineralization and NO_(3)^(-)produced by heterotrophic nitrification,which is not effectively inhibited by *** 56 d,N_(2)O emissions in UR(0.51±0.12 mg N_(2)O-N concluded that the soil organic N mineralization and heterotrophic nitrification are the main processes of NH_(4)^(+)and NO_(3)^(-)***,it was found that N_(2)O emissions were partially a consequence of the direct oxidation of the soil's organic N via heterotrophic nitrification coupled to ***,the results suggest that nitrapyrin would likely exert significant mitigation on N_(2)O emissions only if a substantial N surplus exists in soils with high organic matter content.
