The high penetration of distributed generation(DG)has set up a challenge for energy management and consequently for the monitoring and assessment of power quality(pQ).Besides,there are new types of disturbances owing to the uncontrolled connections of non-linear *** stochastic behaviour triggers the need for new holistic indicators which also deal with big data of pQ in terms of compression and scalability so as to extract the useful information regarding different network states and the prevailing pQ disturbances for future risk assessment and energy management *** and continuous monitoring would guarantee the report to claim for damages and to assess the risk of pQ *** this context,we propose a measurement method that postulates the use of two-dimensional(2D)diagrams based on higher-order statistics(HOSs)and a previous voltage quality index that assesses the voltage supply waveform in a continous monitoring *** suitable for both pQ and reliability applications,the results conclude that the inclusion of HOS measurements in the industrial metrological reports helps characterize the deviations of the voltage supply waveform,extracting the individual customers’pattern fingerprint,and compressing the data from both time and spatial *** method allows a continuous and robust performance needed in the SG ***,the method can be used by an average consumer as a probabilistic method to assess the risk of pQ deviations in site characterization.

dear Editor, The synthesis of tetrapyrroles, including chlorophylls, is central for chloroplast function. The metabolic pathway of tetrapyrrole biosynthesis in Arabidopsis is initiated with the formation of amino levulinic acid （ALA）, which is con- verted by a series of common reactions to protoporphy- tin IX （proto IX）（Tanaka et al., 2011）. Then the pathway diverges into two branches： the synthesis of heme/bilin and chlorophylls. The insertion of Mg2＋ into proto IX, cata- lyzed by Mg-chelatase, is the first committed reaction of the chlorophyll branch and is considered a key step for the regulation of the whole pathway. Mg-chelatase is a het- erotrimeric enzyme composed of subunits CHLI, CHLD, and CHLH, the reaction mechanism of which has been estab- lished. It is a two-step process consisting in the Mg-ATp- dependent activation of the enzyme, which implies the formation of a ternary complex of subunits CHLI and CHLD with ATp-Mg2＋, and Mg2＋ chelation, which is catalyzed by CHLH driven by ATp hydrolysis, CHLI providing ATpase activity to the complex （Tanaka et al., 2011）. In Arabidopsis, CHLH and CHLD are encoded by single genes, whereas two genes, CHLI-I and CHLI-2, encode the two isoforms of CHLI.

Metadoxine improves the three- and six-month survival rates in patients with severe alcoholic hepatitis

AIM:To evaluate the impact of metadoxine(MTD) on the 3- and 6-mo survival of patients with severe alcoholic hepatitis(AH).METHODS:This study was an open-label clinical trial,performed at the"Hospital General de México,*** Liceaga".We randomized 135 patients who met the criteria for severe AH into the following groups:35 patients received prednisone(pDN)40 mg/d,35patients received pDN+MTD 500 mg three times daily,33 patients received pentoxifylline(pTX)400 mg three times daily,and 32 patients received pTX+MTD 500 mg three times *** duration of the treatment for all of the groups was 30 ***:In the groups treated with the MTD,thesurvival rate was higher at 3 mo(pTX+MTD 59.4%vs pTX 33.3%,p=0.04;pDN+MTD 68.6%vs pDN20%,p=0.0001)and at 6 mo(pTX+MTD 50%vs pTX18.2%,p=0.01;pDN+MTD 48.6%vs pDN 20%,p=0.003)than in the groups not treated with MTD.A relapse in alcohol intake was the primary independent factor predicting mortality at 6 *** patients receiving MTD maintained greater abstinence than those who did not receive it(74.5%vs 59.4%,p=0.02).CONCLUSION:MTD improves the 3-and 6-mo survival rates in patients with severe *** abstinence is a key factor for survival in these *** patients who received the combination therapy with MTD were more likely to maintain abstinence than those who received monotherapy with either pDN or pTX.

Binding Capacity for Aflatoxin B_1 by Different Adsorbents

In this article, in vitro adsorption of aflatoxin B1 （AFB1） onto different adsorbents was characterized and the result was verified by comparing the growth performance and serum protein levels of broilers exposed to aflatoxin-contamination feed. Main components of adsorbents selected were yeast cell extracts （product A）, HSCAS （product B）, and a mixture of yeast product and HSCAS （product C）, respectively. A total of 240 broilers were assigned to eight treatments, and the effects of three types of adsorbents on growth performance and serum protein levels were evaluated. Results indicated that product B had the highest in vitro affinity for AFB1, followed by product C and product A. product B bound 97.69% of the AFB1 in solution in 10 min, and it remained over 96.03% in 60 min at pH 8.0. The B-AFB1 complex was much stronger than the other two complexes in vitro condition （p 〈 0.05）. Feed intake （FI） and average daily gain （ADG） decreased （p 〈 0.05） and feed gain ratio increased （p 〈0.05） in the treatment fed aflatoxin-contaminated feed versus treatment on the basal feed. Serum total protein （Tp）, albumin （ALB）, and globulin （GLOB） levels were significantly decreased （p〈0.05）. product B （0.15%） increased growth performance and improved serum protein levels, product A and product C were not as effective as product B. Three adsorbents tested here had sufficient potential to AFBt in some extents and product B could bind AFB1 more effectively than product A and product C. These results indicated that product B could alleviate some of the AFBt toxic effect in broilers.

A projected gradient method with nonmonotonic backtracking technique for solving convex constrained monotone variational inequality problem

Based on a differentiable merit function proposed by Taji, et al in “Mathematical programming, 1993, 58： 369-383”, a projected gradient trust region method for the monotone variational inequality problem with convex constraints is presented. Theoretical analysis is given which proves that the proposed algorithm is globally convergent and has a local quadratic convergence rate under some reasonable conditions. The results of numerical experiments are reported to show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
