An Intelligent Transportation System Application for Smartphones Based on Vehicle Position Advertising and Route Sharing in Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks

This paper discusses how the industrial museums of china represent the international interferences and influences that characterised the first stages of the country's *** terms of methodology,this is a cross-disciplinary exercise that combines museum studies,industrial heritage studies and discourse analysis to examine an ensemble of industrial museums in different sectors and *** investigation is developed on two levels:on one hand,the production and delivery of narratives about foreign elements in chinese industrialisation during the Late Qing Dynasty;on the other hand,the reception of such narratives by national and international *** study concludes that the museums' narratives of early industrial internationalisation in china are heterogeneous and,in spite of some difficulties to reach the public,play a role in defining and building china as a modern nation.

Alerting drivers about incoming emergency vehicles and their routes can greatly improve their travel time in congested cities, while reducing the risk of accidents due to distractions. This paper contributes to this goal by proposing Messiah, an Android application capable of informing regular vehicles about incoming emergency vehicles like ambulances, police cars and fire brigades. This is made possible by creating a network of vehicles capable of directly communicating between them. The user can, therefore, take driving decisions in a timely manner by considering incoming alerts. Using the support of our GRcBox hardware, the application can rely on vehicular ad-hoc network communications in the 5 GHz band, being V2V （vehicle-to-vehicle） communication provided through a combination of Android-based smartphone and our GRcBox device. The application was tested in three different scenarios with different levels of obstruction, showing that it is capable of providing alerts up to 300 meters, and notifying vehicles within less than one second.

Data is becoming increasingly *** regularly interact with a variety of structured data,ranging from SQLite databases on the phone to personal sensors and open government ***“digital traces left by individuals through these interactions”are sometimes referred to as“small data”.Examples of“small data”include driving records,biometric measurements,search histories,weather forecasts and usage *** this paper,we present a flexible protocol called LoRacTP,which is based on LoRa technology that allows data“chunks”to be transferred over large distances with very low energy *** provides all the mechanisms necessary to make LoRa transfer reliable by introducing a lightweight connection setup and allowing the ideal sending of an as-long-as necessary data *** designed this protocol as communication support for small-data edge-based IoT solutions,given its stability,low power usage,and the possibility to cover long *** evaluated our protocol using various data content sizes and communication distances to demonstrate its performance and reliability.

Le corbusier’s urbanism is routinely met with a backlash of criticism,which often overlooks the complexity of his *** is a tendency to focus on the characteristics of his proposal for Paris in 1925 or on the ideas of cIAM’s Athens ***,such affirmations ignore the conceptual and qualitative evolution of his urban *** this sense,the research hypothesis is that corbusian urban models go beyond the Plan Voisin,diffused by urban planning theories as the unique paradigm of his urban *** analysis and characterisation of the inner-city urban plans of Le corbusier,this report seeks to demonstrate the existence of other models and compares them to those often showcased in the partial examination of Le corbusier’s *** following parameters will be analysed:(1)population densities and areas for(2)buildings,(3)vehicles,and(4)*** results of this research indicate the need to parameterise and analyse Le corbusier’s cities beyond a single case to demonstrate the diversity and evolution of his urbanistic *** process seeks to dissipate the common view that falsely extrapolates ideas of his urban planning,largely that of his first proposal,for Paris.

Aims Facilitation by nurse plants is a common interaction in harsh environments and this positive plant-plant interaction may promote vegetation recovery in ecosystems affected by human *** the relevance of this process,however,requires assessing how nurse plants influence the establishment of other species,as well as the proportion of species in the regional species pool that would benefit from the presence of nurse plants in human-disturbed ***,since vegetation recovery is a time-dependent process,the community-level consequences of facilitation are likely to vary among landscapes with different disturbance ***,an integrative perspective of the relevance of nurse plants for vegetation recovery could be obtained by measuring their effects across different human-disturbed landscapes of the target *** study focuses on these issues and uses a regional-scale approach to assess the community-level effects of a widespread nurse plant of American deserts,the creosotebush(Larrea tridentata).Methods This study was conducted in the southernmost portion of chihuahuan Desert because most floodplain valleys of this region have been affected by human activities during the past *** this study,we selected 10 floodplain valleys differing in their age(*** time elapsed after human activities were ceased).At each landscape,we measured the cover of creosotebushes and the proportion of plant species positively associated with them,as well as the density of seeds in the soil beneath creosotebush *** these data were regressed against the age of the ***,to assess whether positive association patterns were due to facilitation or other processes,we conducted field experiments and measured the ecophysiological performance of plant species established beneath and outside creosotebush *** Findings Most plant species from the target region were positively associated to creosotebushes,and our field

Dear Editor,Breast cancer(Bc)is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and the fifth cause of cancer-related death worldwide[1].Despite the advances in Bc targeted therapies,cytotoxic chemotherapy is still widely used[2].However,around 20%-30%of Bc patients develop metastasis after treatment as a consequence of drug resistance[3].In this context,microRNAs have emerged as potential therapeutic targets to overcome therapy resistance[4].Therefore,we aimed to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying resistance to doxorubicin,one of the most effective chemotherapeutic agents used in *** are detailed in Supplementary Materials.

It is necessary to change the current dynamic of growth, to assure that future generations can satisfy their needs. Sustainable development and global sustainability are two concepts that have achieved great importance in almost every sector of activity. There is a wide range of methods and models for sustainability assessment. Nevertheless, it is necessary to go beyond evaluation, looking for sustainability optimization. In spite of this, little work has been done on the latter field. The authors present here a conceptual proposal for an integrated method to optimize sustainability of engineering systems, based on the MIVES （integrated value method for evaluating sustainability） method. For a better understanding of the method, its essential steps for optimizing an energy sub-system are summarized （shell-and-tube heat exchanger）.

Damage control orthopaedics(DcO) originally consisted of the provisional immobilisation of long bone-mainly femur-fractures in order to achieve the advantages of early treatment and to minimise the risk of complications, such as major pain, fat embolism, clotting, pathological inflammatory response, severe haemorrhage triggering the lethal triad, and the traumatic effects of major surgery on a patient who is already traumatised(the "second hit" effect). In recent years, new locations have been added to the DcO concept, such as injuries to the pelvis, spine and upper limbs. Nonetheless, this concept has not yet been validated in well-designed prospective studies, and much controversy ***, some researchers believe the indiscriminate application of DcO might be harmful and produce substantial and unnecessary expense. In this respect, too,normalised parameters associated with the acid-base system have been proposed,under a concept termed early appropriate care, in the view that this would enable patients to receive major surgical procedures in an approach offering the advantages of early total care together with the apparent safety of DcO. This paper discusses the diagnosis and treatment of severely traumatised patients managed in accordance with DcO and highlights the possible drawbacks of this treatment principle.
