Developing highly efficient and low-cost electrocatalysts towards oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is essential for practical application in water electrolyzers and rechargeable metal-air *** Fe-based oxyhydroxides are regarded as state-of-the-art non-noble OER electrocatalysts,the origin of performance enhancement derived from Fe doping remains a hot topic of considerable ***,we demonstrate that in situ generated Fe vacancies in the pristine CoFeOOH catalyst through a pre-conversion process during alkaline OER result from dynamic Fe dissolution,identifying the origin of Fe-vacancy-induced enhanced OER *** functional theory(DFT)calculations and experimental results including X-ray absorption fine-structure spectroscopy,in situ UV-Vis spectroscopy,and in situ Raman spectroscopy reveal that the Fe vacancies could significantly promote the d-band center and valence states of adjacent Co sites,alter the active site from Fe atom to Co atom,accelerate the formation of high-valent active Co^(4+)species,and reduce the energy barrier of the potential-determining step,thereby contribute to the significantly enhanced OER performance.

As a fundamental logistics service,the express delivery(ED)industry provides production and consumption activities to maintain efficient supply chain *** plays an important role in promoting industrial development and maintaining daily life and *** study examined the effects of COVID-19 on the ED industry using ED package delivery data from 31 provinces(autonomous regions and municipalities)in *** a difference-in-differences method,the COVID-19 outbreak was found to have a positive effect and epidemic prevention and control(EPC)policies were found to have negative effects on the development of the ED *** addition to EPC policies,the Chinese government has implemented other short-term economic interventions(SEI),such as the resumption of work and production(RWP),policies to balance economic growth,and epidemic *** study divided the pandemic period into three stages to analyze the different impacts of EPC and SEI policy changes on the ED *** RWP policies adopted during the pandemic positively impacted the volume and income of packages delivered to the ED *** conclusions of this study are significant for the ED industry in addressing public health emergencies and for the Chinese government to formulate EPC and SEI policies during epidemic periods.

Argentina is the country with the highest proportion of arid and semi-arid ecosystems in Latin America. In the rangelands of Southwestern Buenos Aires (Patagones Department), there is a clear advancement of the agricultural frontier to the detriment of the native forest in this region. Due to rainfall variation and seed acquisition, Thinopyrum ponticum is cultivated as a forage perennial crop in this region. Our objective was to evaluate the performance of T. ponticum as a facilitating crop for the medium-term rehabilitation of natural grasslands in semi-arid areas. The working hypotheses were that: 1) native perennial grass cover increases over the years and 2) diversity and specific fi c richness of the vegetation are enhanced by the duration of Tall Wheatgrass implantation. Data were collected from commercial plots where T. ponticum was shown: recent implantation (5-8 - 8 years, RI); medium implantation (13-15 - 15 years, MI); and old implantation (20-22 - 22 years, OI). Thirty-four species were identified fi ed and classified fi ed into seven functional groups: Annual grasses, annual herbs, perennial herbs, exotic perennial herbs, perennial forage grasses, exotic perennial forage grasses, perennial forage exotic grasses, and nonforage perennial grasses. Thinopyrum ponticum's ' s total cover was between RI and OI. Total cover, species richness, and Shannon-Weaver diversity index showed no differences among treatments. Perennial forage grasses exhibited higher cover values in sites with greater implantation age and annual grasses showed the opposite response. Our results indicated that T. ponticum does not invade the sampled plots and enhances the colonization of the planted plots by perennial forage native species. However, even though the herbaceous cover had been recovered, the woody layer which could provide environmental services and specific fi c values for conservation was not.

This study focuses on treating Guadua angustifolia bamboo fibers to enhance their properties for reinforcement applications in composite materials. Chemical (alkali) and physical (dry etching plasma) treatments were used separately to augment compatibility of Guadua angustifolia fibers with various composite matrices. The influence of these treatments on the fibers’ performance, chemical composition, and surface morphology were analyzed. Statistical analysis indicated that alkali treatments reduced the tensile modulus of elasticity and strength of fibers by up to 40% and 20%, respectively, whereas plasma treatments maintain the fibers’ mechanical performance. FTIR spectroscopy revealed significant alterations in chemical composition due to alkali treatments, while plas-ma-treated fibers showed minimal changes. Surface examination through Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) revealed post-treatment modifications in both cases; alkali treatments served as a cleanser, eliminating lignin and hemicellulose from the fiber surface, whereas plasma treatments also produce rough surfaces. These results vali-date the impact of the treatments on the fiber mechanical performance, which opens up possibilities for using Guadua angustifolia fibers as an alternative reinforcement in composite manufacturing. © 2024 The Authors.

Triboelectric nanogenerator(TEnG)has a promising future in the field of energy harvesting and self-powered sensing due to their simplicity in structure,low cost,and efficient energy harvesting from the surrounding *** output electrical performance of TEnG can be improved by doping the friction material with functional materials and modifying the surface of the friction ***,the current method of adding functional materials to friction materials is costly and wasteful,and the method of modifying the surface structure of friction materials is cumbersome and not easy to *** this work,we present a polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)-MXene/gelatin triboelectric nanogenerator(PMMG-TEnG)based on petal surface-microstructures,which has the advantages of low cost,simple preparation,high output performance,and ecological *** doping 0.03 wt.%of MXene in PDMS,the output electrical performance of TEnG can be significantly improved,with an output current increase of up to 139.7%.Four different petals are used as natural molds to prepare *** results show that PMMG-TEnG with peony petal surface microstructure has the best electrical performance,and the output current increase of up to 228.17%compared with PMMG-TEnG without *** PMMG-TEnG with peony petal surface-microstructure exhibits excellent electrical performance,demonstrating a maximum open-circuit voltage of 417.39 V and a maximum short-circuit current of 12.01μA at a size of 3 cm×3 cm,and a maximum power density of 170μW/cm^(2) at a load resistance of 107Ω.The PMMG-TEnG’s output performance after 10,000 cycles is consistent with the initial state,highlighting excellent output *** PMMG-TEnG can easily light up at least 100 light emitting diodes(LEDs).(operating voltage 3V.)Gelatin film exhibits excellent degradation performance,with complete degradation time of only 150 s in water at a constant temperature of 75℃.PMMG-TEnG not only shows excellent performance in
