The evolution and maintenance of color clines is a classic topic of research in evolutionary ***,studies analyzing the temporal dynamics of such clines are much less frequent,due to the difficulty of obtaining reliable data about past color distributions along environmen-tal *** this article,we describe a case of decades-long temporal stability and directional change in a color cline of the marine snail Littorina saxatilis along the coastal inlet of the Ria de Vigo(NW Spain).*** from this area shows a clear color cline with 3 distinct areas from the innermost to the more wave-exposed localities of the Ria:the inner,protected localities show an abundance of fawn-like individuals;the intermediate localities show a high diversity of colors;and the outer,wave-exposed localities show populations with a high frequency of a black and lineated *** compare data from the 1970s and 2022 in the same localities,showing that the cline has kept relatively stable for at least over half a century,except for some directional change and local variability in the frequency of certain *** regression analyses and biodiversity measures are presented to provide clues into the selective pressures that might be involved in the maintenance of this color *** research avenues to properly test the explanatory power of these selective agents as well as the possible origins of the cline are discussed.

Alerting drivers about incoming emergency vehicles and their routes can greatly improve their travel time in congested cities, while reducing the risk of accidents due to distractions. This paper contributes to this goal by proposing Messiah, an Android application capable of informing regular vehicles about incoming emergency vehicles like ambulances, police cars and fire brigades. This is made possible by creating a network of vehicles capable of directly communicating between them. The user can, therefore, take driving decisions in a timely manner by considering incoming alerts. Using the support of our GRCBox hardware, the application can rely on vehicular ad-hoc network communications in the 5 GHz band, being V2V （vehicle-to-vehicle） communication provided through a combination of Android-based smartphone and our GRCBox device. The application was tested in three different scenarios with different levels of obstruction, showing that it is capable of providing alerts up to 300 meters, and notifying vehicles within less than one second.

In the present study,Paleozoic Variscan orogenesis was a model of the oroclinal flexion accompanied by extensive magmatism,which could be divided into the following two types:post-tectonic and syn-tectonic tonalite granite,and leuco-granite which were controlled by the tectonic characteristics of the *** was observed that a very high majority of the samples had displayed discontinuities in their structures,that were later utilized to define the granitoid morphology and development characteristics of the rock during the intrusion ***,it was determined that the tectonics associated with the Alpine orogeny results in the new generation of faults and fractures during the Paleogene Period had produced the development of the *** to different weathering processes,the depressions which had resulted in the present granitoid reliefs were found to be exclusively related to the structural development processes during the geological history(either tectonic or magmatic)of the granite,and not as normally interpreted.

Data is becoming increasingly *** regularly interact with a variety of structured data,ranging from SQLite databases on the phone to personal sensors and open government ***“digital traces left by individuals through these interactions”are sometimes referred to as“small data”.Examples of“small data”include driving records,biometric measurements,search histories,weather forecasts and usage *** this paper,we present a flexible protocol called LoRaCTP,which is based on LoRa technology that allows data“chunks”to be transferred over large distances with very low energy *** provides all the mechanisms necessary to make LoRa transfer reliable by introducing a lightweight connection setup and allowing the ideal sending of an as-long-as necessary data *** designed this protocol as communication support for small-data edge-based IoT solutions,given its stability,low power usage,and the possibility to cover long *** evaluated our protocol using various data content sizes and communication distances to demonstrate its performance and reliability.

This study presents a methodology to evaluate and prevent security vulnerabilities issues for web *** analysis process is based on the use of techniques and tools that allow to perform security assessments of white box and black box,to carry out the security validation of a web application in an agile and precise *** objective of the methodology is to take advantage of the synergies of semi-automatic static and dynamic security analysis tools and manual *** one of the phases contemplated in the methodology is supported by security analysis tools of different degrees of coverage,so that the results generated in one phase are used as feed for the following phases in order to get an optimized global security analysis *** methodology can be used as part of other more general methodologies that do not cover how to use static and dynamic analysis tools in the implementation and testing phases of a Secure Software Development Life Cycle(SSDLC).A practical application of the methodology to analyze the security of a real web application demonstrates its effectiveness by obtaining a better optimized vulnerability detection result against the true and false positive *** analysis with manual checking is used to audit the results,24.6 per cent of security vulnerabilities reported by the static analysis has been checked and it allows to study which vulnerabilities can be directly exploited *** phase is very important because it permits that each reported vulnerability can be checked by a dynamic second tool to confirm whether a vulnerability is true or false positive and it allows to study which vulnerabilities can be directly exploited *** analysis finds six(6)additional critical *** control analysis finds other five(5)important vulnerabilities such as Insufficient Protected Passwords or Weak Password Policy and Excessive Authentication Attacks,two vulnerabilities that permit brute force at

Occult hepatitis B virus(HBV) infection is a world-wide entity,following the geographical distribution of detectable hepatitis *** entity is defined as the persistence of viral genomes in the liver tissue and in some instances also in the serum,associated to negative HBV surface antigen *** molecular basis of the occult infection is related to the life cycle of HBV,which produces a covalently closed circular DNA that persists in the cell nuclei as an episome,and serves as a template for gene *** mechanism responsible for the HBsAg negative status in occult HBV carriers is a strong suppression of viral replication,probably due to the host’s immune response,co-infection with other infectious agents and epigenetic *** is emerging evidence of the potential clinical relevance of occult HBV infection,since this could be involved in occult HBV transmission through orthotopic liver transplant and blood transfusion,reactivation of HBV infection during immunosuppression,impairing chronic liver disease outcome and acting as a risk factor for hepatocellular *** it is important to bear in mind this entity in cryptogenetic liver diseases,hepatitis C virus/ HIV infected patients and immunosupressed *** is also necessary to increase our knowledge in this fascinating field to define better strategies to diagnose and treat this infection.

Background and Aims:Alcohol-associated liver disease(ALD)is the most common cause of advanced liver disease worldwide,including in the *** use and cirrhosis mortality is higher in American Indian/Alaska Native(AI/AN)compared to *** are scanty on ALD as a liver disease etiology in AI/AN compared to other races and ***:The National Inpatient Sample on 199,748 cirrhosis-related hospitalizations,14,241(2,893 AI/AN,2,893 Whites,2,882 Blacks,2,879 Hispanics,and 2,694 Asians or other races)matched 1:1 for race/ethnicity on demographics,insurance,and income quartile of the residence zip code ***:After controlling for geographic location and hospital type,odds ratio(OR)and 95%confidence interval(CI)for ALD as cirrhosis etiology was higher among admissions in AI/AN ***[1.55(1.37–1.75)],***[1.87(1.65–2.11)],***[1.89(1.68–2.13)]and Asians/other races[2.24(1.98–2.53)].OR was also higher for AI/AN *** other races for alcohol-associated hepatitis(AH)as one of the discharge *** findings were similar in a subgroup of 4,649 admissions with decompensated cirrhosis and in a cohort of 350 admissions with acute-on-chronic liver failure as defined by EASL-CLIF *** use disorder diagnosis was present in 38%of admissions in AI/AN vs.24–30%in other races,p<0.001.A total of 838(5.9%)admissions were associated with in-hospital ***(95%CI)for in-hospital mortality in AI/AN individuals was 34%reduced ***[0.66(0.51–0.84)],but no difference was observed on comparison with other ***:ALD,including AH,is the most common etiology among cirrhosisrelated hospitalizations in the USA among AI/AN ***-hospital mortality was observed in about 6%of admissions,which was higher for Blacks and similar in other races compared to admissions for AI/*** health policies should be implemented to reduce the burden of advanced ALD among AI/AN individuals.

Background:Black alder(Alnus glutinosa)forests are in severe decline across their area of distribution due to a disease caused by the soil-borne pathogenic Phytophthora alni species complex(class Oomycetes),“alder Phytopththora”.Mapping of the different types of damages caused by the disease is challenging in high density ecosystems in which spectral variability is high due to canopy *** obtained by unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)may be particularly useful for such tasks due to the high resolution,flexibility of acquisition and cost efficiency of this type of *** this study,*** decline was assessed by considering four categories of tree health status in the field:asymptomatic,dead and defoliation above and below a 50% threshold.A combination of multispectral Parrot Sequoia and UAV unmanned aerial vehicles-red green blue(RGB)data were analysed using classical random forest(RF)and a simple and robust three-step logistic modelling approaches to identify the most important forest health indicators while adhering to the principle of parsimony.A total of 34 remote sensing variables were considered,including a set of vegetation indices,texture features from the normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)and a digital surface model(DSM),topographic and digital aerial photogrammetry-derived structural data from the DSM at crown ***:The four categories identified by the RF yielded an overall accuracy of 67%,while aggregation of the legend to three classes(asymptomatic,defoliated,dead)and to two classes(alive,dead)improved the overall accuracy to 72% and 91% *** the other hand,the confusion matrix,computed from the three logistic models by using the leave-out cross-validation method yielded overall accuracies of 75%,80% and 94% for four-,three-and two-level classifications,***:The study findings provide forest managers with an alternative robust classification method for the rapid,effective assessment of area
