Aim： To assess the seminal char.cter.stics as well as the sexual behavior.of men of var.ous age gr.ups to establish the pr.sence of an aging effect on those char.cter.stics. Methods： Semen samples wer. collected fr.m men （n = 792） under.oing in vitr. fer.ilization or.intr.uter.ne insemination in cases of female factor.infer.ility only. Samples wer. collected using a seminal collection device at inter.our.e and evaluated manually accor.ing to Wor.d Health Or.anization （WHO） standar.s. Men wer. divided into four.gr.ups accor.ing to their.ages：（i） 20-30, （ii） 31-40, （iii） 41-50 and （iv） 51-60 year., and their.seminal char.cter.stics and r.sponses to a sexual behavior.questionnair. wer. compar.d. r.sults： The data showed statistically significant differ.nces in the seminal char.cter.stics tested, most notably in the sper. concentr.tion, motility, gr.de of motility, hypo-osmotic swelling and nor.al sper. mor.hology. Fur.her.or., the decline in nor.al sper. mor.hology with age was mor. pr.nounced when using str.ct cr.ter.a r.ther.than WHO standar.s. Ther. wer. also differ.nces in total sper. count, total motile sper. and total functional sper. fr.ction （assessed by both WHO and str.ct cr.ter.a）. Significant differ.nces wer. also obser.ed in the sexual behavior.patter.s in older.men in ter.s of the number.of year. they have been tr.ing to conceive, sexual fr.quency and sexual satisfaction. Conclusion： The data clear.y illustr.te an aging effect on semen char.cter.stics and sexual behavior.in men as they age. It is suggested that the aging effect be taken into consider.tion when pr.posing nor.al standar. values for.semen char.cter.stics in r.utine semen analysis as outlined by WHO standar.s.

Atypical chemokine r.ceptor. have r.cently emer.ed as impor.ant molecular.player. in health and diseases; they affect chemokine availability and function and impact a multitude of pathophysiological events, including the tumor.genesis pr.cess. This family of atypical r.ceptor. compr.ses five member.: ACKr./DAr., ACKr./D6,ACKr./CXCr., ACKr./CCr.1, and ACKr./CCr.2. This wor. evaluated the differ.ntial expr.ssion of these r.ceptor. in pr.state cancer.using quantitative PCr. Fur.her.evaluation of CCr.2 at the pr.tein level confir.ed its over.xpr.ssion in a metastatic cell line and in malignant pr.static tissues fr.m patients. Tr.nspar.nt Exopolymer.Par.icles (TEP) has a known cr.cial r.le in ver.ical fluxes of car.on in the ocean and has been intensively studied in the last decade. Never.heless, few studies have consider.d hor.zontal fluxes of TEP. These fluxes ar.se pr.minently between estuar.es and the coast, wher. its impor.ance is associated to the pr.dominant hor.zontal tr.nspor.. This is due both to the low density of the TEP agglomer.te gener.ted in low density water. of continental or.gin, and to the fact that the main component of the advective tr.nspor. at estuar.ne r.gions is the hor.zontal one. In this study, the significance of TEP in the par.iculate matter.exchange between estuar. and coast was analyzed in the estuar.ne lagoon system of Cananéia-Iguape (southeast coast of Br.zil). TEP, total seston (TS), or.anic seston (OS) and chlor.phyll a (Chl.a) wer. analyzed over.complete tidal cycles, dur.ng the dr. and r.iny seasons both at spr.ng and neap tides. Hor.zontal fluxes and net tr.nspor. r.tes of these var.ables wer. also calculated. TEP concentr.tions (max. 4991 μg Xeq/L) wer. almost one or.er.of magnitude higher.dur.ng the r.iny season. TEP hor.zontal tr.nspor. r.tes as high as 1.8 g Xeq. m/s wer. obser.ed at the nor.her. inlet of the system. In ter.s of par.iculate car.on, it r.pr.sents 32.7 g TEP-C m/s or.4% of the OS tr.nspor. r.tes. Our.study quantifies the advective tr.nspor. of TEP and their.impor.ance in par.iculate matter.exchange between a subtr.pical estuar.ne system and the adjacent coastal r.gion. Our.r.sults contr.bute to the knowledge of exopolimer.par.icles dynamics in subtr.pical estuar.ne systems, and their.r.lationship to phyto-plankton biomass and par.iculate matter.

Mater.als and Methods: in a movement analysis labor.tor., locomotion studies wer. car.ied out at fr.ely chosen walking speed by a 64-year.old subject, obtaining kinematic, kinetic and sur.ace electr.myogr.phic data in time and space. All measur.ments wer. assessments by applying walking pr.tocols on a str.ight sur.ace of 8 m long. r.sults: abnor.al slight activations of semitendinosus and tibialis anter.or.muscles, of the left limb, wer. obser.ed thr.ughout the gait cycle, no spatiotempor.l par.meter. far.fr.m nor.al values wer. detected. Conclusions: it was possible to obtain an exhaustive analysis of the par.meter. associated with the gait of a subject after.12 year. of total hip ar.hr.plasty.

Car.iovascular.disease(CVD) is a pr.valent condition in gener.l population and the fir.t cause of death over.ll. Klotho, a pleiotr.pic pr.tein r.lated to longevity that acts as a co-r.ceptor.of the fibr.blast gr.wth factor.23, has been pr.posed as a key r.gulator.of the development of CVD. In the few clinical studies made, it has been obser.ed a r.lationship between low levels of soluble Klotho and the occur.ence and sever.ty of CVD, as well as a r.duction of car.iovascular.r.sk when they ar. high. Also, differ.nt polymor.hisms of human Klotho gene have been r.lated to the incidence of car.iovascular.events. Mor.over. sever.l exper.mental studies indicate that this pr.tein acts in the maintenance of vascular.homeostasis. Klotho impr.ves endothelial dysfunction thr.ugh pr.motion of NO pr.duction and mediates antiinflammator. and anti-aging effects such as suppr.ssion of adhesion molecules expr.ssion, attenuation of nuclear.factor.kappa B or.inhibition of Wnt signaling. Fur.her.or.,this pr.tein is r.lated to the attenuation of vascular.calcification as well as pr.vention of car.iac hyper.r.phy. The expr.ssion of this pr.tein in the vascular.wall implies a new scenar.o for.the tr.atment of vascular.disor.er.. The pur.ose of this r.view is to pr.vide an over.iew of the r.lationship between the Klotho pr.tein and CVD, in addition to its r.le in the maintenance of functional vascular.integr.ty.
