Bucaramanga, with a population of about one million, is the capital of the Department of Santander （Colombia）, and has the Rio Surata as its main source of drinking water. In the upper reaches of the river, small-scale gold mining has been going onfor many centuries （Vetas-California mining district）. geologically, the Vetas-California mining district is part of the Santander Massif which is composed of pre-Devonian metamorphic rocks and Mesozoic igneous rocks. The mineralisation is restricted to structurally controlled veins and is often associated with hydrothermal alteration. There is also disseminated mineralisation, but presently only the vein-type is mined. The processing residues are discharged into the nearby watercourses, contaminating the waters of the Surata river basin. As part of a joint Colombian-german technical cooperation project, with the purpose of controlling the negative environmental effects of gold mining pollution, an integrated distillation system for the recovery of mercuury. has been designed and tested.

Diagnosis and management of bacterial infections in decompensated cirrhosis

The Quaternary Structure of NADPH Thioredoxin Reductase C Is Redox-Sensitive

NADPH thioredoxin reductase C （NTRC） is a chloroplast enzyme able to conjugate NADPH thioredoxin reductase （NTR） and thioredoxin （TRX） activities for the efficient reduction of 2-Cys peroxiredoxin （2-Cys PRX）. Because NADPH can be produced in chloroplasts during darkness, NTRC plays a key role for plant peroxide detoxification during the night. Here, it is shown that the quaternary structure of NTRC is highly dependent on its redox status. In vitro, most of the enzyme adopted an oligomeric state that disaggregated in dimers upon addition of NADPH, NADH, or DTT. gel filtration and Western blot analysis of protein extracts from Arabidopsis chloroplast stroma showed that native NTRC forms aggregates, which are sensitive to NADPH and DTT, suggesting that the aggregation state might be a significant aspect of NTRC activity in vivo. Moreover, the enzyme is localized in clusters in Arabidopsis chloroplasts. NTRC triple and double mutants, A164g- V182E-R183F and A164g-R183F, replacing key residues of NADPH binding site, showed reduced activity but were still able to dimerize though with an increase in intermediary forms. Based on these results, we propose that the catalytically active form of NTRC is the dimer, which formation is induced by NADPH.

Background： Sperm DNA fragmentation（sDF） has been proved to be an important parameter in order to predict in vitro the potential fertility of a semen sample. Colloid centrifugation could be a suitable technique to select those donkey sperm more resistant to DNA fragmentation after thawing. Previous studies have shown that to elucidate the latent damage of the DNA molecule, sDF should be assessed dynamically, where the rate of fragmentation between treatments indicates how resistant the DNA is to iatrogenic damage. The rate of fragmentation is calculated using the slope of a linear regression equation. However, it has not been studied if s DF dynamics fit this model. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effect of different after-thawing centrifugation protocols on sperm DNA fragmentation and elucidate the most accurate mathematical model（linear regression, exponential or polynomial） for DNA fragmentation over time in frozen-thawed donkey ***： After submitting post-thaw semen samples to no centrifugation（UDC）, sperm washing（SW） or single layer centrifugation（SLC） protocols, sD F values after 6 h of incubation were significantly lower in SLC samples than in SW or *** of determination（R-2） values were significantly higher for a second order polynomial model than for linear or exponential. The highest values for acceleration of fragmentation（aSDF） were obtained for SW, fol owed by SLC and ***： SLC after thawing seems to preserve longer DNA longevity in comparison to UDC and SW. Moreover,the fine-tuning of models has shown that sDF dynamics in frozen-thawed donkey semen fit a second order polynomial model, which implies that fragmentation rate is not constant and fragmentation acceleration must be taken into account to elucidate hidden damage in the DNA molecule.

A novel induction motor control scheme using IDA-PBC

A new control scheme for induction motors is proposed in the present paper, applying the interconnection and damping assignment-passivity based control （IDA-PBC） method. The scheme is based exclusively on passivity based control, without restricting the input frequency as it is done in field oriented control （FOC）. A port-controlled Hamiltonian （PCH） model of the induction motor is deduced to make the interconnection and damping of energy explicit on the scheme. The proposed controller is validated under computational simulations and experimental tests using an inverter prototype.

Quality assessment of Continuous Operating Reference Stations(CORS)-gPS stations in Mexico

The present analysis provided the quality assessment of 65 Continuous Operating Reference Stations(CORS) situated in and around Mexico using the data of about ten years(January 2010 to January 2020).To accomplish the assessment,we considered 4 quality indexes for performing the quality check,incluing the multipath effect on L1 and L2 bands,signal-to-noise ratio in both bands,cycle slips,and ***,a new reference parameter named regio nal values for Mexico(RVM) was calculated for the stations situated in ***,an exhaustive analysis of the quality indicators in the worst and best cases was *** signal degradation was proved by a long-term time series and cru stal defo rmation analysis in gAMIT/gLOBK *** results showed a stro ng correlation between integrity,cycle slips and daily observations time,and the multipath effect is strong in the case of outdated *** study indicates that the estimated quality indexes and values could be the basis for establishing new CORS in Mexico,and the errors corrections which cannot be mitigated in the postprocessing stage would greatly help utilize the data for different scientific *** results were supported by deformation analysis in part of Baja California Peninsula in Mexico indicating northern and eastern velocity vector of -3.08±0.02 mm/yr,-7.85±0.02 mm/yr and-0.07±0.03 mm/yr,-9.33±0.02 mm/yr respectively at MPR1 and INEg stations.
