Prognostic Factors for Mortality in Severe Traumatic Brain Injury at HGZ 46, villahermosa, Tabasco, Period from March 1, 2021 to December 31, 2022

Introduction: A traumatic brain injury (TBI) is caused by a forceful bump, blow, or jolt to the head or body, or by an object that pierces the skull and interrupts the normal function of the brain. Severe TBI is estimated at 73 cases per 100,000 people. The mortality of severe TBI can be reduced if a timely diagnosis and treatment of the injuries are made through prognostic factors. Objective: To determine the prognostic factors related to mortality in severe traumatic brain injury at the Hospital General de Zona No. 46. Material and Methods: Retrospective, cross-sectional and descriptive study in beneficiaries admitted to the Hospital General de Zona (HGZ) No. 46 of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS by its acronym in Spanish), with a diagnosis of severe TBI;the possible prognostic factors related to mortality of severe TBI were obtained from their records. Measures of central tendency and chi square were used for data analysis. Results: The study sample consisted of 60 subjects diagnosed with severe traumatic brain injury, of which 5 (8%) were women and 55 (92%) were men, and all 60 (100%) patients died. The average age of the sample was 26 with a standard deviation of 9 years. The variables that had a p value less than or equal to 0.05 were: Mydriasis, seizures, Hyperglycemia, Normoglycemia, Hypothermia and Hypotension. This means that these variables were associated with mortality. Conclusion: Statistical significance is demonstrated in prognostic factors of mortality in severe traumatic brain injury with p < 0.05 in the case of mydriasis, seizures, hyperglycemia, normoglycemia, hypothermia and hypotension.

Quality assessment of Continuous Operating Reference Stations(CORS)-GPS stations in Mexico

The present analysis provided the quality assessment of 65 Continuous Operating Reference Stations(CORS) situated in and around Mexico using the data of about ten years(January 2010 to January 2020).To accomplish the assessment,we considered 4 quality indexes for performing the quality check,incluing the multipath effect on L1 and L2 bands,signal-to-noise ratio in both bands,cycle slips,and ***,a new reference parameter named regio nal values for Mexico(RvM) was calculated for the stations situated in ***,an exhaustive analysis of the quality indicators in the worst and best cases was *** signal degradation was proved by a long-term time series and cru stal defo rmation analysis in GAMIT/GLOBK *** results showed a stro ng correlation between integrity,cycle slips and daily observations time,and the multipath effect is strong in the case of outdated *** study indicates that the estimated quality indexes and values could be the basis for establishing new CORS in Mexico,and the errors corrections which cannot be mitigated in the postprocessing stage would greatly help utilize the data for different scientific *** results were supported by deformation analysis in part of Baja California Peninsula in Mexico indicating northern and eastern velocity vector of -3.08±0.02 mm/yr,-7.85±0.02 mm/yr and-0.07±0.03 mm/yr,-9.33±0.02 mm/yr respectively at MPR1 and INEG stations.

Peroxymonosulfate decomposition by homogeneous and heterogeneous Co: Kinetics and application for the degradation of acetaminophen

Peroxymonosulfate(PMS)decomposition,hydroxyl radical(·OH)generation,and acetaminophen(ACT)degradation by the Co/PMS system using homogeneous(dissolved cobalt)and heterogeneous(suspended Co3O4)cobalt were *** the homogeneous process,>99%PMS decomposition was observed and 10 mmol/L of·OH generation was produced using 5 mmol/L of PMS and different dissolved cobalt concentrations after 30 min.A dissolved cobalt concentration of 0.2 mmol/L was used to achieve>99%ACT degradation using the homogeneous *** the heterogeneous process,60%PMS decomposition and negligible·OH generation were observed for 5 mmol/L of the initial PMS concentration using 0.1 and 0.2 g/L of *** of ACT greater than 80%was achieved for all experimental runs using 5 mmol/L of the initial PMS concentration independently of the initial Co3O4 load *** the heterogeneous process,the best experimental conditions for ACT degradation were found to be 3 mmol/L of PMS and 0.2 g/L of Co3O4,for which>99%ACT degradation was achieved after 10 *** negligible·OH was produced by the Co3O4/PMS process,a second-order kinetic model was proposed for sulfur-based free radical production to allow fair comparison between homogeneous and heterogeneous *** the kinetic data and the reaction by-products identified,a mechanistic pathway for ACT degradation is suggested.

Comorbidity negatively influences prognosis in patients with extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma

AIM:To study the outcome and prognostic factors in a series of patients with extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and determine the impact of comorbidity on ***:A retrospective analysis of 68 patients with extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(perihilar,n = 37;distal,n = 31) seen at a single tertiary-care institution during the period 1999-2003 was *** on presentation,management,and outcome were assessed by chart *** confirmation was obtained in 37 cases(54.4%) .Comorbidity was evaluated by using the Charlson comorbidity index(CCI) .RESULTS:Mean age at diagnosis was 73.4 ± 11.5 *** was the most common symptom presented(86.8%) .Median CCI score was 1(range,0 to 4) .Nineteen patients(27.9%) underwent tumor *** biliary drainage was performed in 39 patients(57.4%) ,and 6 patients(8.8%) received only best supportive ***-free margin status(R0) was achieved in 15 cases(78.9% of resection group) .Baseline serum carbohydrate antigen 19-9(CA 19-9) level was revealed to be an independent predictor of surgical treatment(P = 0.026) .Overall median survival was 3.1 ± 0.9 mo,with 1-and 2-year survival rates of 21% and 7%,*** the univariate analysis,tumor resection,CCI score,and serum CA 19-9 levels correlated significantly with *** the multivariate analysis,only resection(HR 0.10;95% CI,0.02-0.51,P = 0.005) and a CCI score ≥ 2(HR 3.36;95% CI,1.0-10.9,P = 0.045) were found to independently predict ***:Tumor resection and comorbidity emerged as significant prognostic variables in extrahepatic *** evaluation instruments should be applied in the clinical management of such patients.

Models and observations of sunspot penumbrae

The mysteries of sunspot penumbrae have been under an intense scrutiny for the past 10 years. During this time, some models have been proposed and refuted, while the surviving ones had to be modified, adapted and evolved to explain the ever-increasing array of observational constraints. In this contribution I will review two of the present models, emphasizing their contributions to this field, but also pinpointing some of their inadequacies to explain a number of recent observations at very high spatial resolution (0.32 ). To help explaining these new observations I propose some modifications to each of those models. These modifications bring those two seemingly opposite models closer together into a general picture that agrees well with recent 3D magneto-hydrodynamic simulations.

Understanding the precursor chemistry for one-step deposition of mixed cation perovskite solar cells by methylamine route

Upscaling perovskite solar cell fabrication is one of the key challenges in the pathway for *** slow evaporation of frequently used solvents(DMF or DMSO) limits the fast perovskite layer crystallization,hindering their implementation in large scale deposition ***,methylamine-based precursors have demonstrated rapid crystallization,leading to uniform and specular ***,their application has been limited to MAPbI3 perovskites with limited efficiency and *** this work,we report the requirements for stabilizing α-phase of mixed cation perovskites with high amount of formamidinium by using a methylamine-based *** found that even though,there are many methods for incorporating the methylamine(MA) in precursors or films;the MA content determines stabilization of the α-phase and therefore the viscous-solution route is the only method to incorporate high amounts of *** low amounts of MA,perovskite tend to crystallize in 1D dimensional FA_(3)(MA)PbI5 phases due to the incomplete solvation of the *** contrast,high MA ratio induces a full solvation of the clusters,leading to a rapid crystallization and a full stabilization of the active 3D α-*** results open a window in the development and understanding of new precursors for the fabrication of high efficient,stable and scalable perovskite devices.

Capsule endoscopy is nowadays the diagnostic technique of choice in the study of small bowel pathologies,allowing the non-invasive study of the entire *** has led,together with new technical advances,to the creation of two new models(PillCam ESO and PillCam Colon)for the study of esophageal and colonic *** two new capsules offer an interesting alternative to conventional endoscopy in the study of the upper and lower digestive tracts,because traditional endoscopy is often unpleasant and uncomfortable for the patient,can be painful,often requires moderate or deep sedation and is not without complications(hemorrhage,perforation,etc.).PillCam Colon is particularly important for its usefulness in the diagnosis of colonic polyps,and is a potentially useful tool in cases of incomplete colonoscopy or in colorectal cancer screening,even more when most patients are reluctant to undergo screening programs due to the said disadvantages of conventional *** article discusses the advantages of capsule endoscopy over conventional endoscopy,its current application possibilities and indications in routine clinical *** the various sections of the work,we assess the application of endoscopic capsule in different sections of the digestive tract(esophagus,stomach,and colon)and finally the potential role of panendoscopy with PillCam Colon.

Isobars Separation (137Cs-137mBa-137Ba) from Marine Sediments, in Order to Evaluate Directly Their Radioactive Contamination by Mass Spectrometry

Marine sediments contamination by fission product 137Cs-137mBa is a fact since the period 1945-65, when plus than two thousand atomic explosion tests were performed mainly in the southern seas, earth region with minor population density. However, marine flows have produced dissemination of this radioactive pair through the sea bottom all over the world, at different levels, because the sea movement and natural decaying of radioactive pair: parent 137Cs (t1/2 = 30.17 years) and daughter 137mBa (t1/2 = 2.55 minutes). Radioactive detection of these contaminants, compared as percentage with that of natural 40K (t1/2 = 1.28 × 109 years, 0.0118% of elementary K) leads to radiation contamination factor (RCF), as one possible unit to measure the radioactive contamination intensity in different regions, as well to determine if there is some other possible source of this contaminant, for example water cooling from power nuclear reactors when it is discharged at sea. However, radioactive detection always implies an unavoidable statistical variation, which makes more difficult to appreciate the changes as function of time and region. But at beginning of this century, mass spectrometry has got impressive advances, which makes it much more precise and sensible than radioactive detection [1]. This paper attempts to measure with other units the radioactive contamination: 137Cs atoms number per gram of sample, instead radioactivity, which could be more direct and with minor standard deviation that radioactive detection, solving at same time the isobars separation: 137Cs versus 137mBa plus elementary 137Ba (11.23% of Ba element).
