The quasi-neutral limit of the Navier-Stokes-Poisson system modeling a viscous plasma with vanishing viscosity coefficients in the half-space■is rigorously proved under a Navier-slip boundary condition for velocity and the Dirichlet boundary condition for electric potential.This is achieved by establishing the nonlinear stability of the approximation solutions involving the strong boundary layer in density and electric potential,which comes from the breakdown of the quasi-neutrality near the boundary,and dealing with the difficulty of the interaction of this strong boundary layer with the weak boundary layer of the velocity field.

Thermal and Structural Insight into Lightweight Lattice Channels for Active Cooling Technology

The active cooling technology that can reduce the combustor temperature is commonly used to protect the scramjet.In order to further improve the performance of active cooling,the structural weight reduction,cooling efficiency and stress level of the cooling channel must be considered simultaneously.In this paper,new types of lattice channels for active cooling were designed and compared with the conventional cooling channel in terms of weight reduction,thermal and structural performance.The results showed that,at the same channel height,the cooling channel with staggered lattice arrays has the optimal comprehensive performance:the weight reduction effect reaches 39.93%;the wall temperature drops significantly,and the maximum Nu number is 2.155times of the conventional channel.The flow field analysis showed that horseshoe vortices formed by the impact effect and hairpin vortices near the trailing edge are the main factors of heat transfer enhancement.The disturbed boundary layer and the excited turbulent kinetic energy also contribute much to enhance the heat transfer.In addition,due to the HTE-induced increment of metal tensile strength,the system reliability of lattice channel is better than the conventional one.

Cross-talk between tumor cells and mechanical stress in the tumor microenvironment has been shown to be involved in carcinogenesis.High mechanical stress in tumors can alter the metabolism and behaviors of cancer cells and cause cancer cells to attain cancer stem-like cell properties,thus driving tumor progression and promoting metastasis.The mechanical signal is converted into a biochemical signal that activates tumorigenic signaling pathways through mechanotransduction.Herein,we describe the physical changes occurring during reprogramming of cancer cell metabolism,which regulate cancer stem cell functions and promote tumor progression and aggression.Furthermore,we highlight emerging therapeutic strategies targeting mechanotransduction signaling pathways.

The surface charge accumulation on the basin insulator is a particular problem in high-voltage direct current(HVDC)gas insulated switchgears(GIS)and gas insulated trans-mission lines(GIL),which restricts the development and application of extra/ultra high-voltage(EHV/UHV)technology.The surface charge distribution and anti-flashover performance are closely related to the insulator shape.To obtain the optimal basin insulator,a shape optimisation model based on artificial bee colony algorithm was established,and the minimisation objective functions based on capacitive(initial)electric field distribution and resistive(steady-state)electric field distribution were respectively constructed.The optimisation results of the two objective functions were calculated,and the electric field and charge distribution on the surface of the insulator before and after optimisation were evaluated and compared using the simulation model.The results indicated that the optimisation based on the capacitive electric field can significantly inhibit the surface charge accumulation,and the optimised insulator can significantly reduce the surface normal electric field and make the distribution of the tangential electric field more uniform,and the maximum tangential electric field can be reduced by 10%;the optimisation based on resistive electric field can achieve similar results,but requires more computational resources.Based on the results,the‘anti-charge’basin insulator structure suitable for the DC field was given.

Ommochrome is the major source for eye coloration of all insect species so far examined.Phenoxazinone synthetase (PHS)has always been regarded as the terminal step enzyme for ommochrome formation,which is encoded by cardinal or karmoisin genes. Our previous study indicated that the karmoisin ortholog gene (Nl-karmoisin)product in the brown planthopper (BPH)was a monocarboxylate transporter,while not a PHS. Here,based on full-length complementary DNA,the cardinal ortholog gene in BPH (Nl-cardinal)product was predicted to be a haem peroxidase rather than a PHS.We suggest for the first time that neither karmoisin nor cardinal encodes the PHS,but whether PHS participates in BPH eye pigmentation needs further research.Nymphal RNA interference (RNAi)experiments showed that knockdown Nl-cardinal transcript led the BPH ocelli and compound eye to color change from brown to red,while knockdown Nl-karmoisin only made the ocelli present the red phenotype.Notably,not only the Nl-cardinal transcript, dscd injection (Nl-cardinal targeting double-stranded DNA (dsRNA))also significantly reduced the Nl-karmoisin transcript by 33.7%,while dska (Nl-karmoisin targeting dsRNA) injection did not significantly change the Nl-cardinal transcript.Considering the above RNAi and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction results,we propose that Nl-cardinal plays a more important role in ommochrome synthesis than Nl-karmoisin,and it may be an upstream gene of Nl-karmoisin.The present study suggested that both karmoisin and cardinal ortholog genes play a role in ommochrome synthesis in a hemimetabolous insect.

The directional transport of liquid droplets on asymmetrical one-dimensional surfaces has broad applicability, from fog harvesting and oil/water separation to desalination, sensing, and beyond. The balance between driving and hysteresis forces determines the performance of droplet motion. To improve droplet mobility, a common strategy is to increase driving forces by introducing multiple levels/types of asymmetries along the motion direction, or to decrease resistant forces by constructing a slippery surface. However, there have been few attempts to integrate enhanced driving forces and decreased resistance into one system, mainly because traditional lubricant surface is difficult to maintain stability on physically or chemically asymmetrical surfaces. In this study, we demonstrate a new approach by employing flexible polymer brush-enabled slippery technique on a micro-grooved cone structure. We show that this technique significantly enhances droplet motion performance compared to cones with pure micro-grooves or pure polymer brush modification. This improvement is achieved through the simultaneous increase in the Laplace driving force and the decrease in hysteresis. Our design, with its cooperative surface structure and chemical modification, provides new insights for developing smart surfaces to drive liquid droplets efficiently.

Deep learning has made tremendous progress in diagnosis assistance and prognosis prediction along with the accumulation of abundant medical data and the improvement of computer algorithms.Many studies have focused on applying deep learning to diseases of the lower gastrointestinal tract.Studies on deep learning and digestive system diseases mainly focus on cancer and inflammatory diseases,while few studies focus on other diseases.In order to better understand the emerging interdisciplinary,this paper reviews the ways in which deep learning may help doctors make a diagnosis or establish a prognosis,revealing that further randomized controlled studies and deeper cooperation between artificial intelligence engineers and doctors will be required.

Nucleolus is a membrane-less organelle where ribosomes are assembled, and ribosomal RNAs(r RNAs)transcribed and processed. The assembled ribosomes composed of ribosomal proteins and r RNAs synthesize proteins for cell survival. In plants, the loss of nucleolar ribosomal proteins often causes gametophytically or embryonically lethality. The amount of r RNAs are under stringent regulation according to demand and partially switched off by epigenetic modifications. However, the molecular mechanism for the selective activation or silencing is still unclear, and the transcriptional coordination of r RNAs and ribosomal proteins is also unknown. Here, we report the critical role of three Arabidopsis nucleolar proteins HDT1,HDT2, and HDT3 in fertility and transcription of r DNAs and r RNA processing-related genes through histone acetylation. This study highlights the important roles of transcriptional repression of ribosome biogenesisrelated genes for plant reproductive development.

Adipose mesenchymal stem cells(ADSCs)have protective effects against glutamate-induced excitotoxicity,but ADSCs are limited in use for treatment of optic nerve injury.Studies have shown that the extracellular vesicles(EVs)secreted by ADSCs(ADSC-EVs)not only have the function of ADSCs,but also have unique advantages including non-immunogenicity,low probability of abnormal growth,and easy access to target cells.In the present study,we showed that intravitreal injection of ADSC-EVs substantially reduced glutamate-induced damage to retinal morphology and electroretinography.In addition,R28 cell pretreatment with ADSC-EVs before injury inhibited glutamate-induced overload of intracellular calcium,downregulation ofα-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazoleproprionic acid receptor(AMPAR)subunit GluA2,and phosphorylation of GluA2 and protein kinase C alpha in vitro.A protein kinase C alpha agonist,12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol 13-acetate,inhibited the neuroprotective effects of ADSC-EVs on glutamate-induced R28 cells.These findings suggest that ADSCEVs ameliorate glutamate-induced excitotoxicity in the retina through inhibiting protein kinase C alpha activation.

[Objectives]The paper was to understand the occurrence and damage regularity of the invasive plant Mikania micrantha in Huadu District of Guangzhou.[Methods]The damage status of M.micranthFa in different forest lands and its annual growth dynamics were investigated by field investigation.[Results]With the change of canopy density from low to high,the occurrence degree of M.micrantha changed from high to low.The occurrence degree of M.micrantha in different forest land types was:abandoned orchard>wasteland>roadside greenbelt>waterside>forest edge>normally managed orchard.[Conclusions]M.micrantha enters the rapid growth period from March to May in spring,with the growth rate gradually slowing down after june.The result provides a theoretical basis and practical guidance for the prevention and control of M.micrantha.
