Effects of Ving Tsun sticking-hand training on upper-limb sensorimotor performance in community-dwelling middle-aged and older adults: A randomized controlled trial

Objective:To evaluate the effects of Ving Tsun(VT)sticking-hand training on upper-limb joint position sense and muscular performance in community-dwelling middle-aged and older ***:Thirty-three adults were randomly allocated to either a VT group or a control *** VT group received VT sticking-hand training twice per week for 3 *** were taken before and after the intervention *** primary outcome was elbow-joint repositioning error,which was measured by an elbow-joint passive positioning and active repositioning test using a universal *** outcomes were upper-limb muscles'peak force and time taken to reach peak force as measured by a hand-held ***:No significant time,group or time-by-group interaction effects were found for elbow-joint repositioning error or upper-limb muscle peak force *** flexor time to peak force decreased by 33.8%from pre-test to post-test in the VT group(P=0.007).Shoulder abductor,internal and external rotator,and elbow extensor times to peak force decreased by 30.0%-35.9%in the VT%roup(Py 30.4%-37.1%in the control group(Pconclusions:VT sticking-hand training does not improve elbow-joint position sense or the maximum strength of upper-limb muscles in middle-aged and older ***,VT can improve shoulder flexor muscles'time to reach peak force in these *** had no obvious effect on the time required to reach peak force in other shoulder muscles and elbow extensors.

Social determinants of health(SDOH)affect quality of *** investigated SDOH impacts on self-perceived resilience among people with adult congenital heart disease(AcHD).Secondary analysis of data from two com-plementary studies:a survey study conducted May 2021–June 2022 and a qualitative study conducted June 2020–August *** was assessed through cD-RISc10 score(range 0–40,higher scores reﬂect greater self-perceived resilience)and interview *** and SDOH(education,employment,living situa-tion,monetary stability,ﬁnancial dependency,area deprivation index)data were collected by healthcare record review and *** used linear regression with robust standard errors to analyze survey data and performed a thematic analysis of interview *** participants(N=127)mean age was 42±14 years;51%were female,87%*** was moderate(75%)or complex(25%);41%functional class c or ***(mean 30±7)varied by monetary stability:compared to people with difﬁculty paying bills,resilience was 15.0 points higher(95%cI:6.9–23.1,py and 14.2 points higher(95%cI:5.9–22.4,p=0.001)for those reporting just enough *** participants’(N=25)mean age was 32 years(range 22–44);52%were female,72%*** was moderate(56%)or complex(44%);76%functional class c or *** discussed factors affecting resilience aligned with each of the major SDOH,prominently,economic stability and healthcare access and *** stability may be important for supporting self-perceived resi-lience in *** knowledge can inform the development of resilience interventions for this population.

Parametric modeling simulation for an origami shaped canopy

MicroRNA-142-3p and microRNA-142-5p are downregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma and exhibit synergistic effects on cell motility

MicroRNAs （miRNAs）, an important class of small non-coding RNAs, regulate gene expression at the post-transcriptional level, miRNAs are involved in a wide range of biological processes and implicated in different diseases, including cancers. In this study, miRNA profiling and qRT-PcR validation revealed that miR-142-3p and miR-142-5p were significantly downregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma （Hcc） and their expression levels decreased as the disease progressed. The ectopic expression of miR-142 significantly reduced Hcc cell migration and invasion. Overexpression of either miR-142-3p or miR-142-5p suppressed Hcc cell migration, and overexpression of both synergistically inhibited cell migration, which indicated that miR-142-3p and miR-142-5p may cooperatively regulate cell movement, miR-142-3p and miR-142-5p, which are mature miRNAs derived from the 3＇- and 5＇-strands of the precursor miR-142, target distinct pools of genes because of their different seed sequences. Pathway enrichment analysis showed a strong association of the putative gene targets of miR-142-3p and miR-142-5p with several cell motility-associated pathways, including those regulating actin cytoskeleton, adherens junctions, and focal adhesion. Importantly, a number of the putative gene targets were also significantly upregulated in human Hcc cells. Moreover, overexpression of miR-142 significantly abrogated stress fiber formation in Hcc cells and led to cell shrinkage. This study shows that mature miR-142 pairs collaboratively regulate different components of distinct signaling cascades and therefore affects the motility of Hcc cells.

Does endoscopic intervention prevent subsequent gastrointestinal bleeding in patients with left ventricular assist devices?A retrospective study

Lifelog is a digital record of an individual’s daily *** collects,records,and archives a large amount of unstructured data;therefore,techniques are required to organize and summarize those data for easy *** has been utilized for diverse applications including healthcare,self-tracking,and entertainment,among *** regard to the imagebased lifelogging,even though most users prefer to present photos with facial expressions that allow us to infer their emotions,there have been few studies on lifelogging techniques that focus upon users’*** this paper,we develop a system that extracts users’own photos from their smartphones and congures their lifelogs with a focus on their *** design an emotion classier based on convolutional neural networks(cNN)to predict the users’*** train the model,we create a new dataset by collecting facial images from the celebFaces Attributes(celebA)dataset and labeling their facial emotion expressions,and by integrating parts of the Radboud Faces Database(RaFD).Our dataset consists of 4,715 high-resolution *** propose Representative Emotional Data Extraction Scheme(REDES)to select representative photos based on inferring users’emotions from their facial *** addition,we develop a system that allows users to easily congure diaries for a special day and summaize their *** experimental results show that our method is able to effectively incorporate emotions into lifelog,allowing an enriched experience.
