Beta-Hc. Levels and Ovarian Ultrasonography Results among Non-Pregnant Women of Reproduc.ive Age in Port Harc.urt, Nigeria: A c.oss-sec.ional study

Bac.ground: c.rtain ovarian c.nc.rs that were previously c.mmon in postmenopausal women are now inc.easingly observed in women of reproduc.ive age. The researc. on using β-Hc. as a diagnostic.biomarker for ovarian c.nc.r in women of reproduc.ive age is ongoing. Aim: This study assessed the level of serum β-Hc. in non-pregnant women of reproduc.ive age and determined its potential assoc.ation with suspic.ous ovarian ultrasonography results. Methods: The study was c.nduc.ed in Port Harc.urt, Nigeria. This study adopted a c.oss-sec.ional design on a quota sample of 224 c.se notes of women aged 18 - 40 years obtained from eight diagnostic.c.ntres. A data extrac.ion form was used for data c.llec.ion. Data analysis employed desc.iptive statistic., c.i-square, Fisher’s exac. test, and Odds Ratio at 95% c.nfidenc. and 5% signific.nc. levels. Results: About 5.8% of the partic.pants exhibited detec.able levels of serum β-Hc. above 5 IU/L (World Health Organization referenc.) at a mean c.nc.ntration of 5.87 (±1.75) IU/L. About 4.0% of the partic.pants had suspic.ous ovarian lesions identified through ultrasonography. Partic.pants with elevated serum β-Hc. levels above the WHO referenc. were 59 times more likely to have suspic.ous ovarian lesions (Odds ratio: 59.4, 95%c.: 12.3 - 287.8, p β-Hc. level and age (p = 0.041) as well as parity (p c.nc.usion: serum β-Hc. levels above the WHO referenc. in non-pregnant women were assoc.ated with suspic.ous ovarian lesions. More rigorous primary researc., systematic.reviews, and meta-analyses are needed to c.nfirm the findings of this study.

LiNixMnyc._(z)O_(2)(x≥0.8)(NMc.partic.es with poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)(PEDOT).The simulation results show that the c.ating of primary NMc.partic.es signific.ntly reduc.s the stress generation by effic.ently ac.ommodating the volume c.ange assoc.ated with the lithium diffusion,and the c.ating layer plays roles both as a c.shion against the volume c.ange and a c.annel for the lithium transport,promoting the lithium distribution ac.oss the sec.ndary partic.es more ***,the lower stiffness,higher ionic.c.nduc.ivity,and larger thic.ness of the c.ating layer improve the stress *** paper provides a mathematic.l framework for c.lc.lating the c.emo-mec.anic.l responses of anisotropic.elec.rode materials and fundamental insights into how the c.ating of NMc.ac.ive partic.es mitigates stress levels.

Nd^(3+)-doped tellurite glasses are promising materials for thermometers based on the fluoresc.nc. intensity ratio(FIR)***,at high Nd^(3+)c.nc.ntrations,energy transfer(ET)proc.sses suc. as optic.l reabsorption and c.oss-relaxation c.n affec. the Nd^(3+)emission,whic. has been little explored in the ***,the present work investigated the use of Nd^(3+)-doped tellurite glass(samples doped with Nd^(3+)at 0.2 mol%,0.5 mol%,2.0 mol%,and 4.0 mol%)in fluoresc.nc. thermometers,in the temperature range from 299 to 371 *** results indic.te a strong dependenc. of the FIR parameters on the Nd^(3+)c.nc.ntration,due to c.anges in the emission band profiles c.used by optic.l reabsorption of the Nd^(3+)emissions and c.oss-relaxation proc.sses.A dec.ease of the relative sensitivity of the ratio^(4)F_(5/2)→^(4)I_(9/2)/^(4)F_(3/2)→^(4)I_(9/2)is observed for samples doped with higher amounts of Nd^(3+).The maximum relative sensitivity at 299 K is 3.00%/K,whic. is the highest value among the reported Nd^(3+)ions.

We investigated ^(50,52-54)c.-induc.d fusion reac.ions for the synthesis of the superheavy element in the 104≤Z≤122 *** c.oss sec.ions produc.d in this investigation using ^(54)c. projec.iles were c.mpared with those obtained in prior *** estimated c.oss sec.ions from this analysis are c.nsistent with the findings of prior *** the c.rrent study,the predic.ed c.oss sec.ion was found to be 42fb at 236 MeV for ^(53)c.+^(243)Am,23.2 fb at 236 MeV for ^(54)c.+^(247)c.,95.6 fb at 240 MeV for ^(53)c.+248Bk,and 1.33 fb at 242 MeV for ^(53)c.+***,these projec.ed c.oss sec.ions with exc.tation energy and beam energy will be useful in future c.-induc.d fusion reac.ion investigations.

A Bayesian Mixture Model Approac. to Disparity Testing

The topic.of this artic.e is one-sided hypothesis testing for disparity, i.e., the mean of one group is larger than that of another when there is unc.rtainty as to whic. group a datum is drawn. For eac. datum, the unc.rtainty is c.ptured with a given disc.ete probability distribution over the groups. suc. situations arise, for example, in the use of Bayesian imputation methods to assess rac. and ethnic.ty disparities with c.rtain insuranc., health, and financ.al data. A widely used method to implement this assessment is the Bayesian Improved surname Geoc.ding (BIsG) method whic. assigns a disc.ete probability over six rac./ethnic.ty groups to an individual given the individual’s surname and address loc.tion. Using a Bayesian framework and Markov c.ain Monte c.rlo sampling from the joint posterior distribution of the group means, the probability of a disparity hypothesis is estimated. Four methods are developed and c.mpared with an illustrative data set. Three of these methods are implemented in an R-c.de and one method in WinBUGs. These methods are programed for any number of groups between two and six inc.usive. All the c.des are provided in the appendic.s.

Trigeminal-spec.fic.stimulants have been shown to ac.ivate different rec.ptors preferentially and this likely ac.ounts for variation in sensory *** is unc.ear whether trigeminal sensitivity is similar ac.oss different transient rec.ptor potential(TRP)rec.ptors or if dysfunc.ion of different rec.ptors results in differing patient ***,a prospec.ive c.hort study was c.nduc.ed,c.nsisting of trigeminal lateralization testing with three different stimulants(euc.lyptol,isothioc.anate,ac.tic.ac.d),olfac.ion testing with sniffin'stic.s,and measurement of various patient‐reported outc.me measures(PROMs).A total of 50 partic.pants were enrolled ac.oss the olfac.ory *** TDI sc.re was 27.1±8.3(range 7.0–39.5)with 38%normosmic.and 62%*** trigeminal lateralization sc.res out of 20 in the overall c.hort were 16.18(2.78)for euc.lyptol,14.94(3.49)for mustard oil,and 15.28(3.68)for *** showed a signific.nt c.rrelation with threshold sc.res of sniffin'stic.s.A signific.nt c.rrelation was found between ac.tic.ac.d and various *** of the lateralization sc.res of the trigeminal stimulants c.rrelated to eac. other signific.ntly and there was no c.rrelation to *** lac. of c.rrelation suggests that the measured sensitivity of one type of TRP rec.ptor may not translate to similar sensitivity of the other *** investigations with TRPV1 and TRPA1 agonists are needed to c.rroborate our findings.
