In recent decades,genetic advances in yield improvement in the major cereal crops,including wheat,has stagnated or proceeded at a slower rate than is required to meet future global food demand,particularly in the face of climate *** reverse this situation,and in view of the future climate scenario,there is a need to increase the genetic diversity of wheat to increase its productivity,quality,stability,and adaptation to local *** abundant genetic resources and literature are a basis for wheat ***,many species,such as wild relatives,landraces,and old cultivars have not been studied beyond their agronomic characteristics,highlighting the lack of understanding of the physiological and metabolic processes(and their integration) associated with higher productivity and resilience in limiting *** studies using wheat ancestors and modern cultivars may identify novel traits that have not previously been considered,or have been underestimated,during domestication and breeding,but that may contribute to future food *** review describes existing wheat genetic diversity and changes that occurred during domestication and breeding,and considers whether mining natural variation among wheat ancestors offers an opportunity to enhance wheat agronomic performance,spike architecture,canopy-and organ-level photosynthetic capacity,and responses to abiotic stress,as well as to develop new wheat hybrids.

Solid-state lithium metal batteries(SSLMBs)are considered an auspicious technology to develop high energy density and safe energy storage *** double layer polymer electrolyte(DLPE)is a rational approach for engineering high-performance SSLMBs addressing electrolyte requirements with specifically designed polymers at the positive electrode and as *** this work,SSLMBs were assembled with poly(propylene carbonate)(PPC),offering stability toward oxidation at the positive electrode,and a gel polymer electrolyte with polyethyleneglycol dimethylether(PEGDME)as separator,offering high ionic conductivity at low temperature and sufficient interfacial stability with Li *** electrochemical properties and performance of cells with LiFePO_(4) and Li[Ni_(0.6)Mn_(0.2)Co_(0.2)]O_(2) positive electrodes are thoroughly investigated as function of the operating temperature by using a host of characterization ***-voltage cells with an areal capacity of 0.7 mAh·cm^(−2)cycled at 40℃ exhibit a higher capacity retention than the cells cycled at 70℃.To understand such differences,a three-electrode setup is applied to discriminate anodic processes from cathodic as function of the *** elucidate the ageing and interfacial evolution for DLPE cells with gel polymer electrolytes paving the way for building performance solid state batteries.

July coincides with the beginning of the academic year in teaching hospitals across the United States of America (USA).The increased responsibility assumed by trainees transitioning to a higher role in the healthcare team is hypothesized to lead to poorer patient outcomes,termed the“July Effect”.The consequence of a“July Effect”might be more severe in critical care settings,where the complexity of patients requires a higher level of experience and *** only studies evaluating the“July Effect”in the ICU were published in the early 2000’s.;Since that time,several resident work-hour regulations have been implemented by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).;These regulations have resulted in more frequent sign-outs,reduced continuity of care,and less clinical time for trainees,which in theory could increase the risk of errors among young trainees at the time they are most vulnerable.

In plastic and reconstructive surgery there is an increasing demand for malleable implants to repair soft tissue congenital defects, or those resulting from aging, traumatic injury and tumour resection. However, currently available methods present a number of limitations such as volume loss over time and eventual resorption of the graft. Tissue engineering techniques provide promising therapeutic solutions to these inconveniences through development of engineered equivalents that best imitate adipose tissue, both structurally and functionally. Here we review the latest achievements in the human adipose tissue engineering field, with a focus on its regenerative potential for a number of clinical applications.

recurrent Ventricular Tachycardia, or Electrical Storm, is a relatively common cause of mortality and morbidity after myocardial infarction. We present a case in which left stellate ganglion blocks were performed under ultrasound guidance in order to alleviate recurrent ventricular tachycardia in a patient requiring extracorpeal membrane oxygenation after myocardial infarction. A medically complex 54-year-old male after two weeks removed from an acute ST elevation myocardial infarction status post stenting and intra-aortic balloon pump placement presented in the cardiovascular intensive care unit with recurrent unstable ventricular tachycardia while on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and multiple vasoactive infusions. Our acute pain service was consulted by the cardiac electrophysiology service to provide left stellate ganglion blocks in attempt to attenuate electrical storm. Multiple single shot left stellate ganglion blocks were performed on subsequent days with increasing local anesthetic concentrations and volumes successfully providing temporary relief of electrical storm. A left stellate ganglion catheter was eventually placed, and a continuous infusion of local anesthesia was started. The patient experienced complete relief from unstable ventricular tachycardia and no further defibrillations were required. The catheter remained in place for 14 days allowing for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation decannulation without the return of electrical storm. We believe ultrasound guided left stellate ganglion blocks to be a relatively safe means to provide temporary relief of recurrent ventricular tachycardia.

It is commonly known that cortical bone exhibits viscoelastic-viscoplastic behavior which affects the biomechanical response when an implant is subjected to an external load. In addition, long term effects such as creep, relaxation and remodeling affect the success of the implant over time. Constitutive material models are commonly derived from data obtained in in vitro experiments. However during function, remodeling of bone greatly affects the bone material over time. Hence it is essential to include long term in vivo effects in a constitutive model of bone. This paper proposes a constitutive material model for cortical bone incorporating viscoelasticity, viscoplasticity, creep and remodeling to predict stress-strain at various strain rates as well as the behavior of bone over time in vivo. The rheological model and its parameters explain the behavior of bone subjected to longitudinal loading. By a proper set of model parameters, for a specific cortical bone, the present model can be used for prediction of the behavior of this bone under specific loading conditions. In addition simulation with the proposed model demonstrates excellent agreement to in vitro and in vivo experimental results in the literature.
