A joint effort between the Connecticut Department of transportation and the University of Connecticut has been underway for more than 20 years to utilize various structural monitoring approaches to assess different bridges in Connecticut. this has been done to determine the performance of existing bridges, refine techniques needed to evaluate different bridge components, and develop approaches that can be used to provide a continuous status of a bridge＇s structural integrity. this paper briefly introduces the background of these studies, with emphasis on recent research and the development of structural health monitoring concepts. this paper presents the results from three different bridge types： a post-tensioned curved concrete box girder bridge, a curved steel box-girder bridge, and a steel multi-girder bridge. the structural health monitoring approaches to be discussed have been successfully tested using field data collected during multi-year monitoring periods, and are based on vibrations, rotations and strains. the goal has been to develop cost-effective strategies to provide critical information needed to manage the State of Connecticut＇s bridge infrastructure.

Chrome steels are used in bearings since they possess high strength and wear ***,when those parts are in service,failure happens due to sliding friction before the *** improve the durability of the American Iron and Steel Institute(AISI)52100 chromium steel,in this work,the effect of laser surface texturing(LSt)was *** the different patterns of circle and ellipse comparing with the untextured samples,the wear behavior was investigated using the pin-on-disc *** lubricant used for wear analysis is semisolid lithium grease National Lubricating Grease Institute lubricant(SKF NLGI-3).Sliding wear analysis was conducted at different loads of 10 N,30 N and 50 N for the sliding speed of 750 r/min and 1400 r/*** wear morphology was analyzed using a scanning electron microscope(SEM).the roughness of the samples was found using a white light *** effect of different patterns like circle and ellipse,alter the friction and wear properties of chromium alloy was observed compared with the untextured *** shows considerable reduction in friction and wear for ellipsoidal pattern compared with the circular pattern because of wear debris and lubricant getting trapped.

Obtaining accurate estimates of machine learning model uncertainties on newly predicted data is essential for understanding the accuracy of the model and whether its predictions can be trusted.A common approach to such uncertainty quantification is to estimate the variance from an ensemble of models,which are often generated by the generally applicable bootstrap *** this work,we demonstrate that the direct bootstrap ensemble standard deviation is not an accurate estimate of uncertainty but that it can be simply calibrated to dramatically improve its *** demonstrate the effectiveness of this calibration method for both synthetic data and numerous physical datasets from the field of Materials Science and *** approach is motivated by applications in physical and biological science but is quite general and should be applicable for uncertainty quantification in a wide range of machine learning regression models.

the current health information systems have many challenges such as lack of standard user interfaces,data security and privacy issues,inability to uniquely identify patients across multiple hospital information systems,probable misuse of patient data,high technological costs,resistance to technology deployments in hospital management,lack of data gathering,processing and analysis *** these challenges,among others hamper either the acceptance of the health information systems,operational efficiency or expose patient information to cyber *** this paper,an enhanced information systems success model for patient information assurance is developed using an amalgamation of technology Acceptance Model(tAM)and Information Systems Success Model(ISS).this involved the usage of Linear Structured Relationship(LISREL)software to model a combination of ISS and Intention to Use(ItU),tAM and ItU,ISS and user satisfaction(US),and finally tAM and *** sample size of 110 respondents was obtained based on the total population of 221 using the Conhrans ***,simple random sampling was employed to select members within each category of employees to take part in the *** questionnaire as a research tool was checked for reliability via Cronbach’s *** results obtained showed that for ISS and ItU modeling,only perceived ease of use,system features,response time,flexibility,timeliness,accuracy,responsiveness and user training positively influenced the intention to ***,for the tAM and ItU modeling,only tAM’s measures such as timely information,efficiency,increased transparency,and proper patient identification had a positive effect on intension to *** ISS and US modeling revealed that perceived ease of use had the greatest impact on user satisfaction while response time had the least effect on user *** its part,the tAM and US modeling showed that timely information,effectiveness,consistency,enhanced communication,and prope

Various methods have been developed to measure the strength of a Lewis acid.A major challenge for these measurements lies in the complexity that arises from variable solvent interactions and perturbations of Lewis acids as their reaction environment ***,we investigate the impact of solvent effects on Lewis acids for the first time as measured by the fluorescent Lewis adduct(FLA)*** binding of a Lewis acid in various solvents reveals a measurable dichotomy between both polarity and donor ability of the *** not strictly separable,we observe that the influence of solvent polarity on Lewis acid unit(LAU)values is distinctly opposite to the influence of donor *** dichotomy was confirmed by titration data,illustrating that solvation effects can be appropriately and precisely gauged by the FLA method.

ELL2 (eleven-nineteen lysine-rich leukemia transcription elongation factor), a component of a larger complex with ptEFb (cyclin t and CDK9) and AF4, is up-regulated in plasma cells where it influences mRNA processing by increasing exon skipping and enhancing proximal poly (A) site use. ELL2 is needed to produce the secretory-specific Ig heavy chain mRNA while ELL1 mRNA does not change in abundance with B cell stages. to investigate the potential interactions of other proteins with the ELL1 and ELL2 proteins, we preformed yeast two-hybrid studies. HSP40 and testin were found to bind to ELL2 in its amino-terminal half. PCNA binds to ELL2 in a region encompassing amino acids 186 - 344. the potent transcription factors HIF1 α and ZNF622 interact with both ELL1 and 2 in the central, proline rich region. Meanwhile, BBS2 and ING3 interact with ELL1 but not ELL2 in this central proline-rich region. Many of the ELL-interacting-proteins uncovered in the two-hybrid screen are tumour suppressors that may work through the ELL: ptEFb complex to suppress or activate sets of genes in plasma cells.

Correlation of stress radiographs to injuries associated with lateral ankle instability

BACKGROUND Stress radiographs have demonstrated superior efficacy in the evaluation of ankle *** to determine if there is a degree of instability evidenced by stress radiographs that is associated with pathology concomitant with ankle ligamentous *** A retrospective review of 87 consecutive patients aged 18-74 who had stress radiographs performed at a single institution between 2014 and 2020 was *** manual radiographic stress views were then correlated with magnetic resonance imaging and operative *** A statistically significant association was determined for the mean and median stress radiographic values and the presence of peroneal pathology(P=0.008 for tendonitis and P=0.020 for peroneal tendon tears).A significant inverse relationship was found between the presence of an osteochondral defect and increasing degrees of instability(P=0.043).CONCLUSION Although valuable in the clinical evaluation of ankle instability,stress radiographs are not an independent predictor of conditions associated with ankle in-stability.

Evaluation of age, weaning weight, body condition score, and reproductive tract score in pre-selected beef heifers relative to reproductive potential

Background: Artificial insemination is a preferred breeding method for beef heifers as it advances the genetic background, produces a predictive and profitable calving season, and extends the heifer’s reproductive life *** reproductive efficiency in heifers is key for the success of beef cattle production systems, following artificial insemination, heifers are exposed to a bull for the remainder of the breeding season. Altogether, up to 95% of heifers might become pregnant in their first breeding season. Heifers that do not become pregnant at the end of the breeding season represent an irreparable economical loss. Additionally, heifers conceiving late in the breeding season to natural service, although acceptable, poses serious losses to producers. to minimize losses due to reproductive failure, different phenotypic parameters can be assessed and utilized as selection tools. Here, we tested the hypothesis that in a group of pre-selected heifers, records of weaning weight, age at weaning, age at artificial insemination, and age of dam differ among heifers of varied reproductive outcomes during the first breeding ***: None of the parameters tested presented predictive ability to discriminate the heifers based on the response variable(‘pregnant to artificial insemination’, ‘pregnant to natural service’, ‘not pregnant’). Heifers categorized with body condition score = 6 and reproductive tract score ≥ 4 had the greatest proportion of pregnancy to artificial insemination(49% and 44%, respectively). Furthermore, it was notable that heifers presenting body condition score = 6 and reproductive tract score = 5 presented the greatest pregnancy rate at end of the breeding season(89%). Heifers younger than 368 d at the start of the breeding season did not become pregnant to artificial insemination. those young heifers had 12.5% chance to become pregnant in their first breeding season,compared to 87.5% if the heifers were older than 368 ***: Our results
