Anato.y, a fo.emo.t basic medical science (BMS) has evo.ved in co.tent and co.text, while remaining the mo.t fundamental BMS subject. Stakeho.ders have co.tinually made effo.ts especially in recent time to.achieve an evo.utio. o. this subject. The primary aim o. this wo.k was to.study the perceptio.s and experiences o. Anato.ists to.ards co.tributing to.pro.ramme and career advancements. Fo.lo.ing ethical appro.al, structured questio.naire was administered to.Nigerian anato.ists using a Go.gle fo.m. It is a to.al po.ulatio. study. The questio.naire had 13 sectio.s, with each sectio. addressing a theme that was integral to.the subject o. research interest. The last sectio. co.lected free respo.ses as qualitative info.matio.. After indicating info.med co.sent, 106 anato.ists pro.erly co.pleted and returned the questio.naires. Statistical and quantitative analyses o. results were do.e. The mo.t po.ular field amo.gst respo.dents was Neuro.cience (60.9%);fo.lo.ed by Histo.o.y o. Micro.co.ic Anato.y (53.6%), Embryo.o.y o. develo.mental anato.y (35.5%), Gro.s anato.y (34.5%) and Histo.hemistry (30.9%). Abo.t half o. Nigerian anato.ists invo.ved in the study had a PhD degree. Training emphasized the co.nitive do.ains the mo.t. Co.sequently, emphasis sho.ld be laid o. the psycho.o.o. (skills) and the affective do.ain (attitude) to.impro.e capacity, co.petences, and the jo. pro.pects o. trainees. The co.sensus was that the pro.ramme trained students and prepared graduates as medical educato.s, scientists, and researchers. Anato.y has significant po.ential to.co.tribute to.develo.ment with pro.er pro.ramme design, emphasis o. research, teaching and applied services co.petencies, effective po.icy fo.mulatio. and implementatio. and adherence to.best practices.

This study delves into.the charge transfer mechanism o. bo.o. (B)-do.ed 3C-SiC thro.gh first-principles investigatio.s. We explo.e the effects o. B do.ing o. the electro.ic pro.erties o. 3C-SiC, fo.using o. a 12.5% impurity co.centratio.. o.r co.prehensive analysis enco.passes structural pro.erties, electro.ic band structures, and charge density distributio.s. The o.timized lattice co.stant and band gap energy o. 3C-SiC were fo.nd to.be 4.373 Å and 1.36 eV respectively, which is in agreement with previo.s research (Bui, 2012;Muchiri et al., 2018). o.r results sho. that B do.ing narro.s the band gap, enhances electrical co.ductivity, and influences charge transfer interactio.s. The charge density analysis reveals substantial interactio.s between B do.ants and surro.nding carbo. ato.s. This wo.k no. o.ly enhances o.r understanding o. the material’s electro.ic pro.erties, but also.highlights the impo.tance o. charge density analysis fo. characterizing charge transfer mechanisms and their implicatio.s in the 3C-SiC semico.ducto.s.

Antibio.ics are indispensable to.maintaining human health, ho.ever, their o.eruse has resulted in resistant o.ganisms which present a significantly higher burden to.the lo. to.middle inco.e co.ntries, due to.the high incidence o. co.municable diseases. Insufficient antimicro.ial-related training fo. physicians during their undergraduate educatio. co.ld have a negative impact o. their prescribing. This study assessed the kno.ledge, attitudes and practices o. antibio.ic use and antimicro.ial resistance amo.g medical students in a private university in Do.inica, a reso.rce-limited co.ntry, in o.der to.facilitate mo.e effective educatio. o. these future prescribers. A cro.s-sectio.al study was undertaken with the medical students fro. February 2021 to.April 2021 using a 36-item questio.naire. Data analysis was achieved using descriptive statistics. A to.al o. 85 students participated in the study, majo.ity (70%) were female, African, aged 23.8 ± 4.6 years and single. Between 64 and 99% o. the respo.dents repo.ted no.risk facto.s fo. co.municable diseases and demo.strated a lo. to.mo.erate (10% - 40%) negative respo.se to.kno.ledge-related questio.s. The majo.ity (70%) o. the respo.dents who.had used antibio.ics in the past 12 mo.ths repo.ted efficacy and limited side-effects, but co.firmed lack o. kno.ledge abo.t the classes o. antibio.ics prescribed to.them. Almo.t half o. the medical students (48%) repo.ted having abused antibio.ics, while abo.t a third (35%) o. the respo.dents repo.ted sharing antibio.ics with friends o. lo.ed o.es in the past. There was no.significant asso.iatio. between age, gender, and the medical students’ kno.ledge o. antibio.ic resistance (p > 0.05). Ho.ever, they repo.ted that they wo.ld like mo.e educatio. o. antimicro.ial use and resistance. The medical students in this study sho.ed kno.ledge o. antimicro.ial resistance, but lacked co.prehensio. o. co.po.ents o. antimicro.ial stewardship, including preventio. o. inappro.riate use and classes

Methicillin-resistant Staphylo.o.cus aureus (MRSA) is a majo. patho.en causing infectio.s resulting in severe mo.bidity and mo.tality wo.ldwide. To.date, the true nature and extent o. MRSA infectio.s in the Caribbean are no. well understo.d. This is a review o. the limited studies in the Caribbean describing the prevalence, epidemio.o.y, and mo.ecular characteristics o. MRSA in ho.pitalized and no.-ho.pitalized patients. Relevant articles were searched and extracted fro. PubMed and Mendeley and a narrative review o. the findings was co.structed. An aggregate o. 24 articles, fro. 1999 to.2020, was fo.nd fro. 10 o. 27 co.ntries. Majo.ity o. the studies were fro. Trinidad and To.ago.(29%) and Jamaica (21%) while 50% were fro. Barbado., Do.inican Republic, Martinique, Haiti, Cuba, St. Kits & Nevis, Guadelo.pe, and Guyana. Appro.imately 75% o. investigatio.s were co.ducted o. ho.pitalized patients versus 20% o. o.tpatients. The data revealed geo.raphical differences in the prevalence o. MRSA within the Caribbean;20% - 100% o. Staphylo.o.cus aureus clinical iso.ates fro. ho.pitalized patients and o.tpatients were resistant to.methicillin, macro.ides, and fluo.o.uino.o.es, but susceptible to.several no.-beta lactam antibio.ics, due to.the widespread o.currence o. CA-MRSA clo.e ST8 SCCmec IV, PVL po.itive. There was mo.erate prevalence o. ST72 SCCmec V (14% - 25%) in bo.h ho.pital and co.munity settings in a few o. the co.ntries while ST30 SCCmec IV, PVL po.itive, was mo.erately prevalent (27%) o.ly in Do.inican Republic. Also. there was mo.erate prevalence o. HA-MRSA ST5 SCCmec II (18%) in co.munity settings in the Do.inican Republic and Martinique, but high prevalence o. HA-MRSA ST239 SCCmec III (60%) in ho.pitalized patients in Cuba and Trinidad & To.ago. The epidemio.o.ic pro.ile o. MRSA in bo.h ho.pital and co.munity settings is changing in the Caribbean.
