A Framework for Exploring the Dynamics of Autonomous work Groups in Manufacturing Organizations

Nowadays, new paradigm of enterprise organization i s constantly changing due to the emergence of the global marketplace, the rise of information technology, and the emphasis of the social developments. This re quires a more flexible form of organization that are more adaptable to rapid cha nges in business environment such as autonomous work groups (AwGs) in order to achieve higher productivity and effectiveness. AwGs are work units responsib le for the production of goods and the provision of services. They involve team members in making decisions that are traditionally the responsibility of the sup ervisors and managers (Cohen & Bailey, 1997). Team members of AwGs are allowed t o self-regulate their behavior on jobs such as task assignments, methods for ca rrying out the work, and scheduling of activities etc. (Cohen & Ledford, 1994). For example, Motorola achieved a high organizational performance due to the succ essful implementation of AwGs in quality management (Piczak & Hauser, 1996). Xer ox also reported their operational successes based on the team-oriented work gr oups (wageman, 1997). In recent years many organizations have replaced the traditional layers of manag ement with autonomous team-based work arrangements. Surveys indicated that the adoption of AwGs has soared in responding to the competitive business challenges . Many enterprises are making a deliberate effort to use AwGs to carry out work and operational processes as an alternative for hierarchical approaches (Lawler et al., 1995). There is a growing body of evidence that AwGs are more effective than traditionally managed groups and they contributes to organizational perform ance, such as improvement in operational performance, productivity, quality, cos t savings, employee attitude and behavior, and employee satisfaction (e.g. Pears on, 1992; Cohen & Ledford, 1994; Seers et al. 1995). work-team has emerged as an important unit composi ng the organization today. The concepts relating to the properties of team-role t hat fit with today’s business environment have attracted much attention from the theorists and researchers. A team having a balanced composition of team-ro les is called a balanced team. Theoretically, a balanced team usually renders a better team performance. Therefore, to improve the performance of the team, mana gement needs to ensure that their work teams are composed of appropriate team me mbers with complementary skills, playing different roles, together forming a bal anced team. However, in certain situation, a balanced team can hardly be formed. For example , companies in Hong kong are mostly the small-to-medium sized enterprises. The number of team-members is usually smaller than the required number for formula ting a balanced team. Also, as team members are required to travel often across borders, stable team can hardly be maintained. To resolve this problem, a different paradigm of team-role prevails here. Team -members autonomously supplant the roles of those missing members. we call this phenomenon the kinetic team role behavior. By using the methodology adopted from psychotherapy study, we propose a way to investigate this interesting and important characteristics of team-role.

Ultrafast 3D imaging is indispensable for visualizing complex and dynamic biological *** scanning-based techniques necessitate an inherent trade-off between acquisition speed and space-bandwidth product(SBP).Emerging single-shot 3D wide-field techniques offer a promising alternative but are bottlenecked by the synchronous readout constraints of conventional CMOS systems,thus restricting data throughput to maintain high SBP at limited frame *** address this,we introduce EventLFM,a straightforward and cost-effective system that overcomes these challenges by integrating an event camera with Fourier light field microscopy(LFM),a state-of-theart single-shot 3D wide-field imaging *** event camera operates on a novel asynchronous readout architecture,thereby bypassing the frame rate limitations inherent to conventional CMOS *** further develop a simple and robust event-driven LFM reconstruction algorithm that can reliably reconstruct 3D dynamics from the unique spatiotemporal measurements captured by *** results demonstrate that EventLFM can robustly reconstruct fast-moving and rapidly blinking 3D fluorescent samples at kHz frame ***,we highlight EventLFM’s capability for imaging of blinking neuronal signals in scattering mouse brain tissues and 3D tracking of GFP-labeled neurons in freely moving *** believe that the combined ultrafast speed and large 3D SBP offered by EventLFM may open up new possibilities across many biomedical applications.

A composite scaffold composed of a porous scaffold and hydrogel filling can facilitate engraftment,survival,and retention in cell transplantation *** study presents a composite scaffold made of poly(ε-caprolactone)(PCL)and methacrylated hyaluronic acid(MeHA)hydrogel and describes the corresponding physical properties(surface area,porosity,and mechanical strength)and host response(angiogenesis and fibrosis)after subcutaneous ***,we synthesise MeHA with different degrees of substitution and fabricate a PCL scaffold with different ***,we construct a series of PCL/MeHA composite scaffolds by combining these hydrogels and *** experiments with mice,the scaffold composed of 3%PCL and 10-100 kDa,degree of substitution 70%MeHA results in the least fibrosis and a higher degree of *** study highlights the potential of PCL/MeHA composite scaffolds for subcutaneous cell transplantation,given their desirable physical properties and host response.

Neuroendocrine(NE)transformation is a mechanism of resistance to targeted therapy in lung and prostate adenocarcinomas leading to poor *** to date,even if patients at high risk of transformation can be identified by the occurrence of Tumor Protein P53(TP53)and Retinoblastoma Transcriptional Corepressor 1(RB1)mutations in their tumors,no therapeutic strategies are available to prevent or delay histological *** of the cell cycle kinase Cell Division Cycle 7(CDC7)occurred in tumors during the initial steps of NE transformation,already after TP53/RB1 co-inactivation,leading to induced sensitivity to the CDC7 inhibitor ***7 inhibition suppressed NE transdifferentiation and extended response to targeted therapy in in vivo models of NE transformation by inducing the proteasome-mediated degradation of the MYC Proto-Oncogen(MYC),implicated in stemness and histological *** overexpression of a degradation-resistant MYC isoform reestablished the NE transformation phenotype observed on targeted therapy,even in the presence of ***7 inhibition also markedly extended response to standard cytotoxics(cisplatin,irinotecan)in lung and prostate small cell carcinoma *** results nominate CDC7 inhibition as a therapeutic strategy to constrain lineage plasticity,as well as to effectively treat NE tumors de novo or after *** simurosertib clinical efficacy trials are ongoing,this concept could be readily translated for patients at risk oftransformation.

Modified Block Iterative Method for Solving Convex Feasibility Problem, Equilibrium Problems and Variational Inequality Problems

The purpose of this paper is by using the modified block iterative method to propose an algorithm for finding a common element in the intersection of the set of common fixed points of an infinite family of quasi-C-asymptotically nonexpansive and the set of solutions to an equilibrium problem and the set of solutions to a variational inequality. Under suitable conditions some strong convergence theorems are established in 2-uniformly convex and uniformly smooth Banach spaces. As applications we utilize the results presented in the paper to solving the convex feasibility problem （CFP） and zero point problem of maximal monotone mappings in Banach spaces. The results presented in the paper improve and extend the corresponding results announced by many authors.

Approximation of Nearest Common Fixed Point of Nonexpansive Mappings in Hilbert Spaces

The purpose of this paper is to study the convergence problem of the iteration scheme xn＋l = λn＋1y ＋（1 - λn＋1）Tn＋1xn for a family of infinitely many nonexpansive mappings T1, T2,... in a Hilbert space. It is proved that under suitable conditions this iteration scheme converges strongly to the nearest common fixed point of this family of nonexpansive mappings. The results presented in this paper extend and improve some recent results.

Phenolic constituents and anticancer properties of Morus alba(white mulberry) leaves

Flavonoids are by far the most dominant class of phenolic compounds isolated from Morus alba leaves(MAL). Other classes of compounds are benzofurans, phenolic acids, alkaloids, coumarins, chalcones and stilbenes. Major flavonoids are kuwanons, moracinflavans, moragrols and morkotins. Other major compounds include moracins(benzofurans), caffeoylquinic acids(phenolic acids) and morachalcones(chalcones). Research on the anticancer properties of MAL entailed in vitro and in vivo cytotoxicity of extracts or isolated compounds. Flavonoids, benzofurans, chalcones and alkaloids are classes of compounds from MAL that have been found to be cytotoxic towards human cancer cell lines. Further studies on the phytochemistry and anticancer of MAL are suggested. Effect of oral erythromycin on gastric and small bowel transit time of capsule endoscopy

AIM： To determine the effect of oral erythromycin on gastric and small bowel transit time of capsule endoscopy. METHODS： Consecutive patients who underwent capsule endoscopy during the 16-mo study period were either given 250 mg oral erythromycin, 1 h prior to swallowing the capsule endoscope or nothing. The gastric and small bowel transit time, and the small bowel image quality were compared. RESULTS： Twenty-four patients received oral erythromycin whereas 14 patients were not given any prokinetic agent. Patients who received erythromycin had a significantly lower gastric transit time than control （16 min vs70 min, P= 0.005）, whereas the small bowel transit time was comparable between the two groups （227 rain vs 183 min, P= 0.18）. Incomplete small bowel examination was found in three patients of the control group and in one patient of the erythromycin group. There was no significant difference in the overall quality of small bowel images between the two groups. A marked reduction in gastric transit time was noted in two patients who had repeat capsule endoscopy after oral erythromycin. CONCLUSION： Use of oral erythromycin significantly reduces the gastric transit time of capsule endoscopy.

This review article summarizes the new research in solid-state physical chemistry understanding of the microstructure characteristics of semiconductor tin oxide thin films made in the last years in our group. The work mainly focuses on the fabrication technology of semiconductor tin oxides thin films by using pulsed laser deposition （PLD） as well as the application of this technology on new micro- and nanostructured materials. It is an interdisciplinary work that integrates the areas of physics, chemistry and materials science.
