Theα/βcomponent of the T-cell antigen receptor(TCR)is a transmembrane heterodimer containing genetically variable(V)domains and constant domains within each polypeptide chain.1 The Vαand Vβdomains bind with a clonally unique(clonotypic)interface angle,2 and the complementary determining regions(CDR1,CDR2,and CDR3)manifest as‘loops’between anti-parallelβ-strands of the overall sandwich ofβ-sheets with a central disulfide *** with immunoglobulins,the CDR1 and CDR2 loops are encoded in the germline via the particular V-region DNA segment involved in the RAG1/RAG2 recombination mechanism responsible for somatic construction,together with the D-and/or J-segment,of the third loop,CDR3.1,3 As shown by multiple solved X-ray crystallography structures,the CDRs contain the closest amino acid(a.a.)contacts with the peptide(p)plus the major histocompatibility complex(MHC)protein(together abbrev.,pMHC)composite *** rigorous selection in the thymus for only those TCRs that should function properly in the particular individual after birth(MHC restriction),4 T cells function clonally as well,i.e.,different T-cell clones display differential responses to not only different pMHC ligands but also perhaps more importantly,to the same pMHC ligands.5,6 A long-standing question is how(not whether)TCR V-domain binding to pMHC is ultimately responsible for such vast biological outcomes as protection *** to infectious diseases,atopy,the onset of autoimmune diseases,and the success of various types of transplantation.

simultaneous effect of hydrostatic pressure and polaronic mass on the binding energies of the ground and excited states of an on-center hydrogenic impurity confined in a GaAs/GaA1As spherical quantum dot are theoretically investigated by the variational method within the effective mass approximation. The binding energy is calculated as a function of dot radius and pressure. Our findings proved that the hydrostatic pressure led to the decrease of confined energy and the increase of donor binding energy. Conduction band non-parabolicity and the polaron masses are effective in the donor binding energy which is significant for narrow dots not in the confined energy. The maximum donor binding energy achieved by the polaronic mass in the ground and excited states are 2%-19% for the narrow dots. The confined and donor binding energies approach zero as the dot size approaches infinity.

Nearly all illuminating classic hypersonic flow theories address aerodynamic phenomena as a perfect gas in the high-speed range and at the upper limit of continuum gas *** hypersonic flow is quantitatively defined by the Mach number independent principle,which is derived from the asymptotes of the Rankine-Hugoniot ***,most hypersonic flows encounter strong shock-wave compressions resulting in a high enthalpy gas environment that always associates with nonequilibrium thermodynamic and quantum chemical-physics *** this circumstance,the theoretic linkage between the microscopic particle dynamics and macroscopic thermodynamics properties of gas is *** the air mixture is ionized to become an electrically conducting medium,the governing physics now ventures into the regimes of quantum physics and ***,the hypersonic flows are no longer a pure aerodynamics subject but a multidisciplinary *** order to better understand the realistic hypersonic flows,all pertaining disciplines such as the nonequilibrium chemical kinetics,quantum physics,radiative heat transfer,and electromagnetics need to bring forth.

In our continuous effort to explore the lichens in new and interesting areas FEEDs campus and sBG garden located in Manipur,a north-eastern state of India are *** study resulted in 47 species in FEEDs campus and 80 species in sB garden respectively,while both areas shared 22 species in *** crustose lichens were more dominant in the area represented by Graphidaceae(16 spp.)and Pyrenulaceae(15 spp.).The species composition in both the sites represented photophilic communities such as graphidaceous,physcioid and parmelioid *** campus had open areas with cultivated plants where as sBG garden had semi-evergreen forest at its initial stage of *** study also added 55 lichen species as new distributional records to Manipur.

Purpose:The purpose of this study is to report a single center experience with portable digital radiographically(DR)guided bedside IVC filters placed in intensive care unit(ICU)patients with high ICP and elevated head of bed(HOB).Materials and methods:A retrospective chart review was conducted on all bedside IVC filters placed from January 1,2010 to september 16,*** with high ICP and elevated head of bed requirements were *** were reviewed for filter type,common femoral vein(CFV)access,filter location,pre procedure imaging,pre and post filter ICPs,glascow coma scale,number of radiographs taken,and filter *** were obtained 1 h prior to procedure and 2 h post procedure and analyzed with a paired T *** were placed by reviewing prior CT scan for IVC size,caval variants,renal and iliac veins and vertebral body ***,CFV access was obtained and a Bentson wire was advanced 30-40 cm.A radiograph was used to confirm adequate position of the of the *** filter sheath was advanced and serial radiographs were used to position the filter sheath at the final predetermined position below the renal veins and above the iliac *** filter was deployed,and a radiograph was obtained to confirm filter ***:A total of 9 DR guided bedside IVC filters were placed(4 Denali,3 Option Elite,2 Celect).Indications included prophylactic placement(n=8)and acute DVT(n=1).The average patient age was 35.8 years(range:18-56 years)CT abdomen and pelvis was used to assess for the level of renal veins in all patients(n=9).No caval variants were encountered on pre-procedural *** average pre,intraprocedural,and post procedure intracranial pressure was 16 mmHg,13 mmHg,and 16 mmHg,*** of placement after final placement was available in 7 patients(4 DR,2 CT and one fluoroscopic examination).Two non-procedural related deaths *** success,defined as successful placement of IVC filter at the

The present study enumerates the diversity of corticolous lichens from Kokrajhar district of Assam *** study records 54 species of lichens belonging to 21 genera and 14 *** of the species are crustose(44 species)and 10 are *** of the species,Astrothelium alboverrucoides is a new record to India while five species viz.,Graphis sayeri,Hemithecium croceum,Malmidea piperis,Ocellularia allosporoides and Porina belanospora are new additions to the lichen biota of *** the species,nine are endemic to *** is the dominant family and Dirinaria consimilis is frequently found in all the study *** indicates its scope for future applications in other studies related to lichens in the region.

AIM:To examine whether acupuncture can prevent prolonged postoperative ileus(PPOI)after intraperitoneal surgery for colon cancer. METHODs:Ninety patients were recruited from the Fudan University Cancer Hospital,shanghai,China. After surgery,patients were randomized to receive acupuncture(once daily,starting on postoperative day 1, for up to six consecutive days)or usual *** was defined as an inability to pass flatus or have a bowel movement by 96 h after *** main outcomes were time to first flatus,time to first bowel movement, and *** outcomes were quality of life(QOL)measures,including pain, nausea,insomnia,abdominal distension/fullness,and sense of well-being. REsULTs:No significant differences in PPOI on day 4 (P=0.71)or QOL measures were found between the *** were also no group differences when the data were analyzed by examining those whose PPOI had resolved by day 5(P=0.69)or day 6(P= 0.88).No adverse events related to acupuncture were reported. CONCLUsION:Acupuncture did not prevent PPOI andwas not useful for treating PPOI once it had developed in this population.
